New Delhi. September 2025 proved to be a good month for the Indian automotive industry. The wave of festivals, reduction in GST and attractive discount offers played a big role in bringing customers to the showroom, which is clearly visible in the monthly sales figures. The 7-seater family car segment saw major changes in buyer preferences, with Mahindra Scorpio (Scorpio N + Scorpio Classic) coming out on top with total sales of 18,372 units, surpassing even the very popular Maruti Ertiga.
Scorpio recorded 27% annual growth to 14,438 units in September 2024. Maruti Suzuki's Ertiga slipped to second place with 12,115 units, whereas in the same month last year this figure was 17,441 units, registering a decline of 31%. Ertiga has been the most popular car in India in its segment. Since its launch, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has consistently registered excellent sales for the company.

Toyota Innova (Innova Crysta + Innova Hycross) retained the third position and registered total sales of 9,783 units as against 8,052 units, showing an annual growth of 21%. Sales of Mahindra XUV700 7-seater SUV increased to 9,746 units in September 2025, compared to 4,956 units in August 2025 and 9,646 units in September 2024.

Kia Carens (Carens + Carens Clavis) stood at the fifth position with sales of 7,338 units as against 6,217 units in the same month last year. There was a slight difference in the sales of Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Bolero, with a difference of only 36 units. The Japanese automaker sold 2,783 units of the Fortuner, while Mahindra sold 2,747 units of the Bolero. However, Bolero sales were much lower than in August 2025.
Renault Triber
Renault Triber and Maruti XL6 stood at eighth and ninth position with sales of 2,587 units and 2,170 units respectively in September. Tata Safari secured the tenth position in the list with sales of 2,000 units.
