Maruti Suzuki starts export of Jimny 5-door in 2023, now more than 1 lakh units exported to 100 countries, Jimny Nomade gets 50000 bookings in Japan.
Maruti Suzuki had recently announced that the company has exported more than 1 lakh units of this offroader to foreign markets. Shipments for this car started in 2023. Made in India, the Jimny has created a huge fanbase at the international level. But, it could not be that successful in India.
Currently, the Jimny 5-door is being exported to more than 100 countries, with Japan, Mexico, Australia, South Africa and Chile being the major markets. With this feat, it has become the second most exported model of Maruti Suzuki, trailing only the Ford Figo.
Maruti Suzuki started exporting the Jimny 5-door in 2023, soon after its launch in India. Its launch in Japan earlier this year under the name “Jimny Nomade” was witnessed with extraordinary enthusiasm, registering over 50,000 bookings within a few days.
The global success of the Jimny 5-door has been tremendous given that its sales in India have been comparatively low, which raises the question as to why the SUV is succeeding abroad but struggling in the domestic market.
