New Delhi. The discount offers given during Navratri and Dussehra are now over, but many automobile companies have extended their festival offers till Diwali. Additionally, additional discounts are also being given on stock clearance models available with some dealers. Hyundai's electric car Kona EV is also included in this list, on which benefits of up to Rs 2 lakh are available.

Hyundai has removed Kona EV from its website and is now selling only Hyundai Ioniq 5 in this segment. However, Kona EV stock is still available with many dealers and heavy discounts are being given to clear it. The starting price of this car is Rs 23.84 lakh (ex-showroom).

Kona EV sales decline
Hyundai Kona EV is considered to be the company's first electric model in the Indian market, which was launched in 2019. However, no major updates have been made in it since then and its sales have been declining for the last few months. Even despite huge discounts, there was no improvement in its sales. According to reports, the company is preparing to launch Creta EV soon, due to which the sale of Kona EV is being stopped.

Features of the new Kona EV
The new Hyundai Kona EV will be offered with two battery pack options of 48.4 kWh and 65.4 kWh. The company claims that this car will give a WLTP range of 490 kilometers once fully charged. The EV crossover will be launched in standard and long range models. It will have modern features like 12.3-inch dual-screen dashboard, ADAS, LED lighting and electronic gear selector.

Its front has a wraparound light bar and pixel graphics exterior, sharp lines and split LED headlamps like the Ioniq 5. The length of the car is 4,355 mm, which is 150 mm more than the old Kona EV, while the wheelbase has been extended by 25 mm.

Safety and Technology
Hyundai Kona EV has been provided with advanced safety features like ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), Blind-spot Collision Avoidance Assist, High Beam Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Forward Collision Avoidance Assist. Apart from this, the car also has premium features like Bose's 8-speaker sound system, keyless entry, OTA updates, heads-up display, connected car technology and power tail gate.

New Delhi. The demand for SUV segment is increasing rapidly in the Indian market. Proof of this is that the SUV segment will account for 52 percent of total car sales in the first half of 2024. If we talk about the first half of the current financial year 2025, Tata Punch was the best selling SUV during this period. Tata Punch sold 1,01,120 units between April and September 2024, compared to 72,626 units in the first half of the last financial year. In this way, an annual increase of 40.19 percent was recorded in the sales of Tata Punch.

Hyundai Creta stood second in terms of sales, selling 96,416 units with an annual growth of 15.20 percent. At the same time, Maruti Suzuki Brezza was at third place, which sold 93,659 units and its annual growth during this period was 14.31 percent.

Scorpio sales increased by 35%
Mahindra Scorpio stood at the fourth position, which sold 81,293 units with an annual growth of 35.83 percent. At the same time, Maruti Suzuki Suzuki stood at fifth position, which sold 73,841 units with an increase of 16.32 percent.

At sixth place was Tata Nexon, whose sales were 72,350 units with an annual decline of 8.38 percent. Hyundai Venue was at seventh place, with sales of 56,521 units and an annual decline of 10.81 percent was recorded.

Grand Vitara sales declined
At eighth place was Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, whose sales declined by 6.67 percent and 55,751 units were sold. Kia Sonet stood at the ninth position with sales of 55,017 units, a growth of 40.83 percent. At the tenth place was Mahindra XUV 300, whose sales were 50,501 units with an annual increase of 69.65 percent.

Tata Punch was successful in maintaining its lead in the segment, while other SUV models also continued to register their presence in the market with their own growth and decline.

Ola Cabs will have to change customer refund policy, option of bank account will have to be given to return the money.

New Delhi. Cab service providing company Ola Cabs will now have to give customers the right to choose between bank account or coupon in the refund process.

The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) issued this order to the company on Sunday (October 13). Currently, when a customer complains for a refund on the Ola app, the company gives him the refund in the form of a coupon, which he can use only for the next ride on the Ola app.

Highlights of the order
The Consumer Ministry has clarified that not giving the option for refund is a violation of consumer rights. Due to this the company is forcing the customers to take the next ride. CCPA Chief Commissioner Nidhi Khare has directed Ola to provide bills, receipts or invoices to customers for all auto rides booked on its platform.

The regulator also pointed out that if a customer wants to get an invoice for an auto ride booked on the platform, the app refuses to do so citing “change in auto service rules”.

Number of complaints increased
Till October 9 this year, 2,061 complaints were lodged against Ola on the National Consumer Helpline (NCH), most of which were related to fares exceeding the time of booking and non-refund of the amount to customers.

Last week, CCPA had also issued a show cause notice to Ola Electric Mobility for alleged violation of consumer rights, misleading advertising and unfair trade practices. More than 10,000 complaints have been filed against the listed company on NCH.

Indian automaker, Mahindra & Mahindra is preparing to launch several electric vehicles in the coming years. The company intends to offer its EV under two nameplates – XUV and BE monikers. The platform can house battery packs with capacities between 60 kWh and 80 kWh. The battery pack is compatible with Blade batteries as well as Prismatic battery packs. These batteries can charge at speeds up to 175 kWh, so a 0-80 percent battery can be charged in less than 30 minutes.
