New-generation BMW X2 debuts with iDrive 9, promises 307 bhp power

BMW has been actively teasing the second-generation X2 crossover over the last few weeks and now, the German luxury car brand has taken the wrap off the car. The new generation BMW X2 comes with fresh styling, two powertrain options and a wide range of new technologies onboard. Slated for public debut at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo later this month, the X2 could come to India after launching in other global markets.

The new BMW X2 gets a styling that makes it significantly different from its previous iteration. The new X2 gets a coupe-like roofline that flows seamlessly into the rear. The upright front profile, flared wheel arches and muscular rear profile give the crossover a strong and bold visual appearance compared to its predecessor. The car also comes with updated LED headlamps and taillights. The optional illuminated kidney grille is another design element that sets the X2 apart from its smaller sibling X1. The new X2 is also the first compact crossover from the automaker to come with optional 21-inch wheels.

The car comes with a clean surface thanks to minimal dynamic lines at the side profile. The door handles too come integrated with the body enhancing the aerodynamic efficiency of the car. BMW claims that the new X2 has grown by 7.6 inches in length to 179.8 inches, while its wheelbase comes 0.9 inches longer than the outgoing model.

Moving inside the cabin, the new BMW X2 offers more space to the occupants than to the dimensional upgrade. With more focus on touch and voice control through the BMW Curved Display and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, the car comes equipped with BMW iDrive 9. The curved display combines a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen infotainment display into a single glass panel. Among the new features inside is a cabin-facing camera that can take photos and record videos.

On the powertrain front, the new-gen BMW X2 gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine powering the X2 xDrive28i. This is the base variant and it can churn out 237 bhp peak power and 400 Nm of maximum torque. Also, it can reach 0-96 kmph in 6.2 seconds. Powering the top variant X2 M35i xDrive is a more potent 2.0-litre engine that pumps out 307 bhp peak power and 400 Nm peak torque. This engine is capable of propelling the car to 96 kmph from a standstill position in 5.2 seconds. Both versions get a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Nissan Magnite EZ-Shift launched at ₹6.50 lakh, is the most affordable AMT SUV

Powering the Magnite EZ-Shift is a 1.0-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 71 bhp of max power and a peak torque output of 96 Nm. The new AMT transmission is a 5-speed unit. The manufacturer is claiming a fuel efficiency figure of 19.70 kmpl. When compared, the 5-speed manual gearbox has a claimed fuel efficiency of 19.35 kmpl.

The gearbox has Dual Driving mode which allows the driver to take manual control of the gearbox. Nissan is also offering a creep function which allows the car to move forward when the driver lets go off the brake. There is also an anti-stall & kick-down feature on offer. Moreover, the vehicle comes standard with Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Hill Start Assist (HSA).

Nissan recently introduced the Nissan Magnite Kuro Special Edition, starting at ₹8.27 Lakhs ex-showroom. Derived from the Japanese word for ‘Black,’ the name Kuro captures the essence of this Special Edition. The manufacturer has extensively used black for the exterior as well as the interior for the Kuro Edition.

The report claims that the problem is connected to the NFC chip inside the Apple iPhone 15 models. The NFC chip works on an ultra-low frequency and allows the iPhone 15 users to perform certain functions wirelessly. These include paying for a product or service using Apple Pay or unlocking their cars using Apple CarKey. However, the report claims that charging the iPhone 15 using the wireless charging docks of certain BMW cars may damage the phone’s ability to use the NFC chip permanently.

One of the BMW models that have caused such a problem for a user is the 3 Series. An iPhone 15 user has reportedly written on Reddit that the BMW 3 Series acted like an oven heater. The user reportedly claimed that barely charging the iPhone 15 using the wireless charger onboard a BMW 3 Series resulted in the smartphone becoming super hot. However, the report didn’t specify what other BMW cars are causing this issue for iPhone 15 models.

The wireless charging function in a car cabin is powered by a separate charging coil and it uses induction technology. The system works when the dock and the phone’s back are located close to one another. It is not clear, what is causing the malfunction in this case. The report has not revealed whether the iPhone 15 has some issues with the charging coil or the components used in the BMW cars are causing the problem.

Nissan Motor has launched the Kuro edition of the Magnite SUV in India. The carmaker has announced that the price of this special edition Magnite to commemorate ICC World Cup Cricket will start from ₹8.27 lakh (ex-showroom). The carmaker had opened the bookings for the Magnite Kuro at ₹11,000 last month. Wrapped in an all-black exterior and interior theme, Magnite Kuro will basically be the black edition of one of the most affordable SUVs in India. Kuro is a Japanese word which means Black in English. The carmaker recently unveiled the Magnite Kuro edition revealing its design and features ahead of the launch.

Nissan Magnite Kuro, based on the XV trim of the SUV, is available in three top-spec variants which include the XV MT, Turbo XV MT and Turbo XV CVT. The price of the Turbo XV MT is ₹9.65 lakh (ex-showroom) while the Turbo XV CVT will cost ₹10.46 lakh (ex-showroom). While there are no direct rivals for Magnite Kuro, it is likely to take on the Renault Kiger SUV’s Urban Knight special edition launched last month.

Nissan Magnite Kuro variants will come with similar glossy black exterior colour scheme. The Magnite Kuro will get blacked out grille, skid plates, bumpers, headlight accents, door handles and roof rails painted in black. The only chrome on the exterior is theNissan and Magnite badgings at the front and rear. The alloy wheels will come with red calipers offering some colour relief from black. Overall, there are no design changes in the Magnite Kuro edition.

The all-black theme continues inside the cabin as well. The dashboard, centre console, seats and upholstery has the monotone. Some of the elements inside the cabin have been given piano-black treatment for more premium look. The feature-list remains similar with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver display, wireless charging among others.

There are no changes under the hood of the Magnite Kuro edition either. Nissan will continue to offer the same 1.0-litre petrol and 1.0-litre turbo petrol units that power the standard versions of the SUV. The naturally-aspirated petrol motor is capable of generating 71 bhp of power and 96 Nm of peak torque. The turbo petrol engine can churn out around 99 bhp of power and 152 Nm of peak torque.

Nissan will also launch a new variant of the Magnite SUV on October 12. The new variant will come with an AMT gearbox and will be called the EZ Shift variant.

The standard variants of the Magnite SUV is offered at a starting price of ₹6 lakh (ex-showroom). The top-spec variant of the SUV costs ₹10.86 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Motors opens bookings for Harrier and Safari facelift SUVs

Tata Motors has opened the bookings for the 2023 Harrier and Safari facelift SUVs today. The carmaker will launch both these flagship SUVs in October. One can book the Harrier facelift SUV or the 2023 Safari SUV for an amount of ₹25,000 through Tata’s online portal or at nearest dealership. The deliveries are expected to start soon after Tata Motors announces the prices. While Harrier will renew its rivalry with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos among others, the Safari will lock horns with Mahindra XUV700 in the three-row SUV space.

Tata Motors has teased both Harrier and Safari facelift SUVs on its social media handles in the run-up to the launch. Both models have undergone several changes, including design, features and powertrain. Here is a look at what all has changed.

Tata Motors will offer the Harrier facelift SUV in four trims. Like the new Nexon and Nexon EV, Tata has dropped the old nomenclature to identify the model variants. The carmaker will use Smart, Pure, Adventure and Fearless names for Harrier variants too. For Safari, the top-end variant is called Accomplished.

Tata Harrier, Safari facelift: Design updates

The Harrier and Safari facelift SUVs will come with a new front face. Among the key changes are an updated grille flanked by vertically split headlight setup and LED DRLs stretched across the bonnet. The main headlamp housing is new and is now positioned vertically. At the sides, the Harrier SUV will sit on a set of redesigned alloy wheels measuring between 17 inches and 19 inches. At the rear, the Harrier gets connected light bar feature that Safari facelift has also received.

Tata Harrier, Safari facelift: Interior and features

On the inside, the 2023 Harrier will offer a new 12.30-inch infotainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster which look similar to the ones introduced in 2023 Nexon and Nexon EV. The dashboard will come with ambient lighting promising a more youthful vibe inside the cabin of the new Harrier. The new Harrier will also come with the new two-spoke steering wheel with a backlit panel showing Tata Motors’ logo and mounted controls that made its debut inside the Nexon and Nexon EV facelift SUVs.

Among other features, the Harrier facelift SUV will also offer powered tailgates, 10 JBL speaker sound system with Harmon AudioworX, paddle shifters, 360 degree camera and more.

Tata Harrier, Safari facelift: Safety features

In terms of safety, Tata Motors will offer as many as seven airbags in Harrier and Safari. Six airbags will be offered as standard across all variants. The seventh airbag, which is meant to protect the knees of the driver, will be offered in top-spec variants. Tata will also offer level-2 ADAS technology in Harrier, as well as the new Safari, with at least 11 safety features.

Tata Harrier, Safari facelift: Engine

The new Harrier and Safari SUVs will continue to be offered with Tata Motor’s trusted 2.0-litre diesel engine only. Mated to either a 6-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission options, the engine is capable of generating 167.6 bhp of power and 350 Nm of peak torque. It also offers three drive modes which include Eco, City and Sport. Besides these, Tata will also offer three traction modes – Normal, Rough and Wet.

New Lexus LS gets parallel parking, improved safety and more

Lexus LS has been soldering on its fifth-generation model at a time when several of its competitors including the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series and Audi A8 have been adopting new-generation iterations to stay relevant. While the exterior design of this car remains unchanged, Lexus has updated the LS flagship sedan with a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster that comes with new graphics. Additionally, the drive recorder of the luxury sedan now comes as a standard feature and captures footage at the front and rear using the integrated cameras. Also, the LS now comes compatible with an app that turns the user’s smartphone into a digital key allowing him or her to lock or unlock the doors or even start the car. Apart from that, the Lexus LS 500h now gets an external power supply attachment that could come in handy in case of emergencies.

While these changes make the LS sedan technologically upgraded and feature-packed, on the mechanical front, the car has gained rear-wheel steering for the AWD variant. Earlier, the four-wheel steering was available only for the rear-wheel drive models. Lexus has also said that it will install a radiator support brace on select versions to ensure body rigidity and improve steering response.

The car manufacturer claims that the updated Lexus LS will come offering better comfort to the occupants thanks to the tweaked suspension at both axles. The rubber part that supports the exhaust pipe of the car now sits at a different angle to ensure reduced vibrations.

Among other updates, the car gets an upgraded advanced drive system with support for traffic congestion at speeds of up to 40 kmph. On the safety front, the sedan gets Lexus Safety System Plus, which prevents the driver from getting dangerously close to pedestrians, bicycles, or parked vehicles. To avoid any mishap, this technology automatically steers the car and applies brakes. Another highly interesting feature introduced to the car is parallel parking, which allows the owner of the LS 500h to park the car remotely using a dedicated app.

Volkswagen India has announced its annual festivities with Volkfest 2023 which brings a host of offers and benefits for customers, right in time for the festive period. The Land Cruiser has been one of the most famous vehicles in the world for its ruggedness. However, the pickup version of the vehicle spotted in the video has pushed that limit by surviving a severe rollover crash. The video posted on the social media platform Instagram reveals the severely damaged pickup truck making its way to a Toyota dealership service workshop with its body frame mangled. It looks like the vehicle had been stomped on by a giant monster. However, despite the bad condition of the pickup truck, it can be recognizable as a single-cab pickup version of the Land Cruiser 70 Series.

The Toyota Land Cruiser pickup truck’s cabin is crumpled and both the front section as well as the rear cargo deck area are so battered that they look like in the state of ‘point of no return.’ The video was shot in Saudi Arabia and the Land Cruiser was driving somewhere in the mountainous area of the country, where the pickup truck rolled over several times but after it came to rest was found still working.

There is a chance that the wrecked Land Cruiser pickup truck or at least a few parts of it would be saved. Thanks to the ladder-frame underpinning of the vehicle, the Toyota pickup truck is still driveable despite being in such a battered condition. If the engine, frame and suspension can be repaired, the Land Cruiser could come back to life with its original parts. However, repairing the vehicle would take a lot of time and work, considering the damage is severe.

Tata Motors car sales slump 5% in September, EVs grow 57%

The homegrown automobile manufacturer claims to have sold a total of 45,317 cars last month, down five per cent from 47,864 units registered in the same month a year ago.

Tata Nexon facelift — Tata Motors is expecting to see sales growth during the festive season thanks to the new product launches.

Domestic sales of Tata Motors’ passenger vehicle sales in September were down by six per cent at 44,809 units. In comparison, the auto manufacturer sold 47,654 units in the same month last year. Export numbers in the segment have jumped 142 per cent to 508 units last month, up from 210 units registered in September last year.

Total passenger vehicle sales in the second quarter of the current financial year too were down by three per cent to 138,939 units, as compared to 142,851 units sold between July and September 2023. Domestic sales of Tata passenger vehicles were down by 2.7 per cent to 137,950 units in the same period, as compared to 142,325 units recorded in the corresponding period of last fiscal.

While the overall passenger vehicle sales slumped marginally for the homegrown automobile manufacturer, sales of electric vehicles have recorded impressive growth. Tata Motors has registered a whopping 57 per cent growth in the electric vehicle segment with its models like the Nexon EV, Tigor EV and Tiago EV. The automaker claims to have sold 6,050 electric cars last month, up from 3,864 EVs sold in the same month a year ago. In the second quarter of the current financial year, Tata Motors sold 18,615 electric cars, up 55 per cent from 12,041 units sold in the same period a year ago.

Speaking about the sales performance, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said that the PV sales remained strong in the second quarter of this financial year thanks to the new product launches. “Passenger vehicle sales remained strong in Q2 FY24 driven by new launches and pre-festive offtakes. Tata Motors posted quarterly sales of 138,939 cars and SUVs in Q2 FY24, 2.7 per cent below our highest-ever quarter, Q2 FY23. Our EV business continues its strong momentum and has posted growth of about 55 per cent year-on-year. In Q2 FY24, we extended our innovative twin-cylinder CNG offering to Tiago, Tigor and Punch, which have been received well by the market. This quarter also saw the launch of the new generation Nexon and Nexon.ev, which have received an overwhelming market response. We had proactively reduced supplies of the outgoing models this quarter to enable a smooth transition to the new generation models,” he said further adding that with the deliveries commencing of its new products, Tata Motors is expecting higher sales volumes in the festive season and beyond.

The Aston Martin DB12 comes into India via the import route but that was obvious. The supercar market in the country remains microscopic even though the likes of Ferrari and McLaren are present through a select few models of their own. Lamborghini has been ruling the tiny territory but then again, Urus SUV is quite the showstopper across the world. As such, the entry of Aston Martin DB12, in many ways, marks a new dawn.

The DB12 has a low-slung profile which is tailormade to underline its aerodynamic credentials. While from many angles, it may appear similar to the DB11, the new Aston Martin logo leaves no doubt that this here is the absolute latest that the British manufacturer has on offer.

What’s also new is the V12 from the DB11 has been replaced with a four-litre turbo V8 engine, a move necessitated by newer emission norms in many parts of the world. Make no mistake though because performance credentials remains as solid as ever – 670 bhp and 800 Nm of torque. The suspension set up is also absolutely new and features adaptive dampers. The other highlights include 21-inch Michelin Pilot Sport 5 S tires, Electronic Rear Differential (E-diff) and three drive modes – GT, Sport and Sport+. At its most capable, the Aston Martin DB12 can go from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 325 kmph.

Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the new Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S E Performance and GLC 43 coupe SUVs, which get the Affalterbach treatment. Both coupe SUVs pack more power than before via a turbocharged mild-hybrid powertrain, while the receding roofline makes them more stylish than the predecessor. The AMG GLC 63 Coupe will go on sale by early 2024, while the GLC 63 S E Performance coupe will go on sale in the second half of 2024 as a 2025 model.

The 2024 Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe draws power from a new turbo petrol mild-hybrid motor, while the GLC 63 S E Performance gets a strong hybrid turbo engine

Both versions get the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine. Both engines are paired with a 9-speed AMG Speedshift automatic transmission. The base GLC 43 coupe churns out 415 bhp with a short-term boost of 13.8 bhp via the mild-hybrid tech, while peak torque stands at 500 Nm.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S E Performance packs 671 bhp and 1,020 Nm from its hybrid engine and has an electric driving range of 12 km

On the other hand, the GLC 63 S E Performance’s 2.0-litre turbo petrol motor is paired with an electric motor that belts out a combined output of 671 bhp and 1,020 Nm of peak torque. The hybrid also claims a pure electric driving range of 12 km. 0-100 kmph comes up in 3.5 seconds and an electronically limited speed of 275 kmph.

Both versions get a rear-axle steering and AMG Ride Control suspension as part of the standard kit. Other components remain the same including the suspension setup with adjustable suspension dampers, all-wheel drive, and braking hardware. The cabin layout also stays the same with the vertically stacked infotainment screen with the MBUX system.

Mercedes-Benz is yet to confirm if the new AMG GLC coupes will make their way to the Indian market. However, considering the previous generation AMG GLC 43 coupe SUV was sold in India and was quite popular too, it’s likely that the coupe SUV will return and could be locally assembled as well.

Having announced its entry earlier this year, Skoda Auto has commenced sales in Vietnam, marking an all-new market for the Czech automaker. Skoda Auto has partnered with the TC Group for local distribution and production and a celebratory event was held earlier recently with representatives of the Vietnamese and Czech governments in attendance. Skoda has commenced operations with the sale of the Karoq and Kodiaq SUVs in Vietnam, which are being imported as Completely Built Units (CBU). The automaker plans to introduce the Kushaq compact SUV in the second half of 2024, which will be exported from India. The Skoda Kushaq will arrive in Vietnam via the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route and will be locally assembled in the country by the TC Group. Skoda Auto expects to expand to as many as 30 dealer partners and annual sales of over 40,000 units beyond 2030.

Sales for the Skoda Karoq and Kodiaq commenced on September 25 from the automaker’s first dealership in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. The company plans to open additional showrooms in central and south Vietnam with 20 outlets to be inaugurated by 2025 and 30 by 2028. Apart from the Karoq and Kodiaq, the automaker plans to introduce the Octavia and Superb soon. The Skoda Enyaq electric SUV is also slated to arrive in the market at a later date.

Starting in the second half of 2024, Škoda will be tapping into significant regional synergies. Honda Cars delivers 200 Elevate SUVs in Chennai in a single day

Honda Cars India has achieved a significant milestone for its latest product, the Elevate SUV. It delivered a total of 200 units of the mid-size SUV in Chennai in a single day at a mega event. The OEM is currently focusing on deliveries of the newly launched product to its customers across the country. The model is available at an introductory price ranging from ₹10,99,900 to ₹15,99,900 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Elevate SUV is offered in a single-engine option but with two transmission choices. The 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC petrol unit is capable of generating 119 bhp of maximum power and 145.1 Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox and an advanced CVT gearbox. Honda says that the Elevate SUV has a mileage of 15.31 kmpl in manual variants while the CVT versions will offer 16.92 kmpl of mileage.

The SUV is available in four variants – SV, V, VX, and ZX. In terms of design, it comes with a boxy front profile and a large black radiator grille, LED headlights, integrated LED DRLs, LED taillights, black fog lamp housing and large wheel arches housing sporty 17-inch alloy wheels.

The character lines at the sides, along with the black claddings, increase the model’s visual appeal. The SUV also gets a massive 220 mm of ground clearance, which is the highest in the segment.

On the inside, the SUV is spacious yet simple. There is a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system which is compatible with wireless smartphone connectivity. There is also a 7-inch HD colour TFT driver display. One also gets other features like automatic climate control, among others.

Single-tone colour options on the Elevate include Platinum White Pearl, Lunar Silver Metallic, Obsidian Blue Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, Meteoroid Gray Metallic and Phoenix Orange Pearl. There will also be three dual-tone options available on the top-end variants – Phoenix Orange Pearl with Crystal Black Pearl Roof, Platinum White Pearl with Crystal Black Pearl Roof and Radiant Red Metallic with Crystal Black Pearl Roof.

Indian Navy officers embark on 6,500-km long trip in Maruti SUVs

Maruti Suzuki India has partnered with the Indian Navy to create awareness about career opportunities amongst the Northeastern youth through ab outreach program, called the ‘Khamree Mo Sikkim’. As a part of this association, 45 Navy officials will be driving five Maruti Suzuki vehicles for the next few weeks, covering some key regions in the country such as Mhow, Jhansi, Lucknow, Varanasi and Patna.

The 6,500-km long expedition was flagged off from the Indian Navy base at Lonavala on 24 September, Sunday. As the convoy will traverse across diverse states, participants will engage with local communities and provide them with guidance on defense entrance exams at esteemed educational institutions. Along the route, participants will also visit historically significant monuments. “This initiative is a collaborative effort to contribute to the progress and well-being of Northeast India. Our primary goal is to enlighten and inspire the youth about the abundant prospects within the Navy,” said Srivastava.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has announced that it has decided to temporarily halt bookings for the new Rumion E-CNG variant in the country. This has been done due to the overwhelming response for the MPV. The Toyota Rumion is a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the company says the CNG variants are witnessing a strong demand. Toyota did not disclose the number of bookings received so far for the Rumion E-CNG.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has launched the updated i20 N Line facelift in the country bringing substantial updates to the sporty hatchback. The new Hyundai i20 N Line facelift is priced from ₹9.99 lakh for the manual, ₹20,00 cheaper than the older version, while going up to ₹12.32 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec DCT automatic N8 trim. The i20 N Line now exclusively gets the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, which was recently discontinued on the standard i20 earlier this year.

Power on the new Hyundai i20 N Line comes from the familiar 1.0-litre Kappa Turbo GDi petrol engine tuned for 118 bhp and 172 Nm of peak torque. The motor is paired with a new 6-speed manual transmission and a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) that’s now available in both N6 and N8 trims. The IMT unit has been given a miss this time in favour of a proper manual, which should appeal to enthusiasts, and also brings a lower asking price on the model.

Visual changes include the revised grille and headlamps on the i20 N Line inspired by the recently updated standard i20 hatchback. The new LED headlamps also sport a new signature LED DRL design. The bumpers have been revised as well, while the rear gets minimal changes. The cabin gets black interiors with contrast red inserts for a sporty look. Kia Seltos, Carens prices to be hiked in October. See how much you need to pay

Kia is all set to increase the prices of its flagship SUV Seltos and Carens three-row MPV. The Korean auto giant has announced that the prices of both these models will be increased from October. The carmaker has said that the Seltos and Carens prices will be hiked by up to 2 per cent. This is the second time that Kia has announced a price hike on its models during the ongoing financial year. Prices of Kia’s other models like Sonet, Carnival and EV6 will remain same for now.

Kia had launched the updated Seltos SUV in July this year at a starting price of ₹10.89 lakh (ex-showroom). On Wednesday, the carmaker introduced two new variants of the SUV to meet demands ahead of the festive season. The two variants, priced between ₹19.40 lakh and ₹19.60 lakh, will sit right under the top-spec variant of the SUV priced at ₹19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Though Kia has not specified which variants of the Seltos will receive price hike. However, a 2 per cent price increase could see the base variant’s cost go up by more than ₹20,000. In case of top variant, the price could increase by up to ₹40,000.

Kia Carens was launched as a Recreational Vehicle by the carmaker in India back in February 2022. The launch price started from ₹8.99 lakh (ex-showroom). However, after multiple hikes in the last 18 months, the price of the entry-level Carens has increased to ₹10.45 lakh (ex-showroom). The price of the top-end variant goes up to ₹18.90 lakh (ex-showroom).

Kia said the price hike became necessary amid rising costs of production. Hardeep S Brar, National Head (Sales and Marketing) at Kia India, said, “While many of the companies have already taken the price increase post-April, we, however, did not take…besides the raw material prices are going up.. and we introduced the new Seltos and a lot of investment has gone into the product..so we think it is time that we take the price increase.”

Kia had last increased the prices of its models in April after it launched the Seltos, Sonet and Carens with updated engines to meet BS6 Phase 2 emission norms.
