If you want to buy Tata Punch then wait for a while, SUV is coming in a new style in the new year

New Delhi. Tata Punch has been one of the brand's most successful models since its launch, recording consistently good sales over the years. Tata Motors has updated the features of this SUV from time to time, but its overall design has mostly remained the same. Now the company is preparing to bring a facelift version of this model to keep up with its new design language, and recent spy shots show that it is very close to production.

Waiting for new Tata Punch
In the new spy shots, two Punch facelift (ICE) test mules have been spotted on a public road, showing dual-tone roof and Punch EV-like styling elements. These prototypes appear to be almost in production form, which suggests that Tata is in the final stages of testing before launch. The launch is expected in the first half of 2026.

What was shown in the spy image?
Despite the heavy camouflage, several design updates can be seen. At the front, the 2026 Tata Punch facelift has a new bumper, which will give a new look to the model. The main grille has two horizontal slits for air intake, and the LED DRLs look slimmer than before. The headlamps are vertically stacked, similar to the Punch EV, and some trims may also get fog lamps with cornering function. The design of the alloy wheels is new, but has been completely covered in the spy images.

360 degree camera
The SUV gets thick black body cladding, which is unpainted, just like the current model. A 360-degree camera has also been seen in a test mule, which can help in blind-spot monitoring and enhance the safety features of the Punch. Interior updates, which were seen in earlier spy shots, include a new steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo, a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen and a new dashboard layout. Features may include ventilated front seats, 10.25-inch driver display and possibly Level 2 ADAS.

engine
Talking about the engine, the existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is likely to be available in the Punch facelift, along with this, a CNG variant will also be available with this engine. The dual-CNG-tank setup and transmission options, which include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT, may continue.

Maruti Suzuki Hybrid will have to wait longer, the company had to postpone the launch due to this reason

Maruti Suzuki Hybrid will have to wait longer, the company had to postpone the launch due to this reason

Last Updated:

Maruti Suzuki plans electric vehicles, flex-fuel models and a facelift for 2026, the FrontX hybrid will arrive in 2027, a new hybrid MPV will also be launched in 2029.

New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki plans several new product launches for 2026, including electric vehicles, flex-fuel models and facelifts. Earlier there were reports that Maruti Frontex hybrid compact crossover may hit the Indian roads next year. However, now the company has postponed its launch till 2027. Front Hybrid will be the first model of Maruti Suzuki which will get in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain.

Why is there a delay?
According to reports, Maruti Suzuki's new series hybrid powertrain (codenamed HEV) will include the tried-and-tested 1.2L Z12, three-cylinder petrol engine, 1.5-2kWh battery pack and an electric motor. But the company is facing packaging problems in fitting these three components in a limited space, due to which the launch is getting delayed.

What is a series hybrid powertrain?
In the series hybrid system, the petrol engine works only to generate electricity and does not directly drive the wheels like a conventional engine. The generated electricity is either used to charge the battery or directly power the electric motor. Only the electric motor drives the wheels. This setup makes driving smooth and provides better fuel efficiency in stop-go traffic.

How will Maruti's hybrid system be different?
Maruti Suzuki's series hybrid system is considered to be much more economical than Toyota's Atkinson Strong Hybrid setup, which currently powers the Victoris, Grand Vitara and Invicto. It will be specially designed for Maruti Suzuki's mass-market models like Baleno, Swift and Brezza. The Indo-Japanese automaker is also planning to launch a new hybrid MPV in 2029, which will be based on the Suzuki Solio.

There will be competition with them
Upcoming Maruti Hybrid MPV Codenamed YVF, the new Maruti hybrid MPV will be launched against the Renault Triber and the upcoming Nissan Gravit. It will be based on Suzuki Solio and its length will be less than 4 meters. Powered sliding rear doors and other premium features can be provided in it. The Japan-spec Suzuki Solio gets a 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol hybrid powertrain and a CVT gearbox. This setup gives a claimed fuel efficiency of 22kmpl under the WLTC test cycle.

After Baleno, now Maruti Franks faces trouble abroad, got only 1 star in ANCAP crash test

After Baleno, now Maruti Franks faces trouble abroad, got only 1 star in ANCAP crash test

Last Updated:

Suzuki Fronx Crash Test: ANCAP gave only one star safety rating to the Indian made Suzuki Fronx, whereas it got four and five stars in Japan NCAP and ASEAN NCAP. The biggest reason behind the low score was the defect in the seat belt. Earlier, Baleno was also tested abroad. Baleno got only 2 stars in crash test.

New Delhi. The Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) has tested the Indian-made Suzuki Franxx and its results are considered worrying. Based on the tests conducted by the safety rating agency, this car has received only one star rating. This rating applies to the variants sold in the markets of Australia and New Zealand. In contrast, the variants tested by Japan NCAP and ASEAN NCAP received four and five star ratings respectively. Earlier, Baleno has got 2 star rating in crash test.

suzuki franco safety rating
Franks performed averagely in four main assessment categories. It scored 48 percent in adult occupant protection, 40 percent in child occupant protection, 65 percent in vulnerable road user protection and 55 percent in safety assist. Although the car performed well in some tests, a serious flaw had a major impact on its safety rating. The biggest problem came to light during the full-length frontal crash assessment. A malfunction in the rear passenger seat belt retractor caused the belt to suddenly unbuckle, causing the rear crash test dummy to move forward without any restraint and collide with the front seat.

Child Occupant Protection
The Ford scored a 40 percent score for child occupant protection, mainly due to the lack of rear seat belt pre-tensioners. ANCAP found that the child dummy did not provide adequate protection during frontal and side impact tests. Child head and chest protection remained weak to average, resulting in low scores in many test scenarios. There are ISOFIX anchors and top tether points for the rear seats, but the score is further reduced due to the lack of seat belt pre-tensioners and child presence detection system.

pedestrian safety
The Autonomous Emergency Braking System performed well in most scenarios involving pedestrians and cyclists, and it performed well for motorcyclists as well. However, this system does not work when reversing, which limits its effectiveness in certain real-world situations.

suzuki franks
Safety Features Many driver assistance features have been provided in the front, such as autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, emergency lane keeping, blind spot monitoring and speed assistance system. AEB performed well in car-to-car and junction scenarios and reduced the likelihood of collision. This vehicle does not have the facility of head-on AEB nor is it provided with direct driver monitoring system. There are seat belt reminders for all seating positions, but no occupant detection for the rear center seat.

According to data from CPCB's 'Sameer' app, 16 out of 40 monitoring stations in the city recorded 'severe' air quality, while the remaining stations recorded 'very poor' levels. According to CPCB data, AQI falls in 0-50 'good', 51-100 'satisfactory', 101-200 'moderate', 201-300 'poor', 301-400 'very poor' and 401-500 'severe' categories. To deal with this problem, Tesla has released a video of the capacity of the air purifier of its car Tesla Model Y and claimed that Tesla's HEPA purifier is capable of providing up to 99.97 percent clean air.

Tesla's HEPA purifier
Elon Musk-led electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has highlighted the problem of air quality through a video. This video shows the functionality of the Tesla Model Y's HEPA filter. The video shows a big bubble in which Tesla Model Y and BMW X3 are kept. When smoke bombs are released inside the bubble, the Tesla activates its HEPA-equipped bioweapon defense mode, while the BMW relies on its normal filtration system. This test proves that Tesla's advanced air-purification technology is better than traditional systems.

When Maruti 800 changed the face of Indian roads, changed the definition of buying a car.

When Maruti 800 changed the face of Indian roads, changed the definition of buying a car.

New Delhi. Today, when Indian roads are full of SUVs and premium cars, it is difficult to remember that there was a time when cars were considered only for the rich. Till the early 1980s, buying a car was no less than a dream for an ordinary Indian family. It was during this period that the Maruti 800 arrived, which not only changed the face of Indian roads but also decided that a car would no longer be a luxury but could be a necessity.

A new beginning in the era of license raj
Maruti 800 was born at a time when the Indian automobile sector was in the grip of the license raj. The options were very limited – Hindustan Ambassador and Fiat Padmini. Both the cars were expensive, low mileage and backward in terms of technology. The waiting period used to be of years and getting delivery was like winning a lottery. In this environment, Maruti 800 entered in 1983. This small car, made in collaboration with Japan's Suzuki, may have been compact in size, but the idea behind it was very big – a car for the common man.

The trio of price, mileage and reliability
The biggest strength of Maruti 800 was its price. While other cars were out of the reach of the middle class, the Maruti 800 gave the assurance for the first time that even a low-paid person could own a car. Low maintenance cost and excellent mileage made it more attractive. This was the period when the price of petrol affected the budget of every family. In such a situation, the mileage of Maruti 800 was no less than a boon for the people. On top of that, the engine was reliable because of Japanese technology. Start and go, this became its identity.

First car, first freedom
The Maruti 800 was not just a vehicle, it was the first car for millions of Indian families. Be it dropping children to school, visiting relatives or taking a long trip to the village, Maruti 800 was present everywhere. Cutting the ribbon of a new car at weddings, pujas and festivals became an emotional moment. For many people, this was the first time that they were traveling by their own car instead of bus or train. This is the reason why Maruti 800 made the Indian middle class feel a new freedom.

Service network won hearts
Another major achievement of Maruti was its service network. At that time, car breakdown meant weeks of trips to the garage. Maruti ensured availability of service centers and spare parts across the country. The result was that car ownership became easier and more reliable. Maruti's reach in rural and small towns made it the choice of every class.

The changed face of Indian roads
After the arrival of Maruti 800, the number of cars on Indian roads increased rapidly. Where earlier seeing a car was a special thing, now it has become a common sight. Traffic, parking and driving culture, everything started changing. This car not only promoted personal transportation but also intensified competition in the auto industry. Other companies were also forced to make cheap, affordable and reliable cars.

An icon that lives on in memories
With time, technology changed, new standards of safety and features came and Maruti 800 gradually left the roads. But its memories are still alive in the hearts of millions of people. In many homes, this car was like a family member, and eyes would become moist while selling it. Maruti 800 not only gave India a car, but also changed the definition of car buying. It proved that with the right idea, right price and trust, any product can change the face of society.

Planning to buy a new car? Don't buy these 3 very popular SUVs this year, this is the reason

Planning to buy a new car? Don't buy these 3 very popular SUVs this year, this is the reason

New Delhi. The year 2025 is about to end and potential buyers will try to buy their favorite car before the beginning of the new year. Why? Because many automobile companies are going to increase the prices of most of their cars from the beginning of 2026. In such a situation, you can buy your favorite SUV this month. However, we would advise you to avoid buying these 3 most popular SUVs for the next few months. Why? Let us tell.

tata punch
Tata Punch Trust me, we wouldn't recommend you buying one of India's best-selling SUVs, the Tata Punch, for the next few months. On-road prices in Mumbai range between Rs 6.39 lakh to Rs 10.63 lakh. Punch has also made a dent in the sales of popular cars like Maruti Wagon R. In this price range, Punch offers excellent value for money to the customers. It is packed with features and despite being an entry-level compact car, it offers a high seating driving experience. Also, this is one of those Tata SUVs which faces almost no major issues. Then why are we advising you not to buy such a great car?

Why not buy?
Actually, Punch is a great package, but Tata Motors may launch an even better version of it in early 2026. We hope that the facelift version of Tata Punch will be launched by February 2026. With the facelift, a new design will be seen in the exterior and interior of the SUV. If you liked the design of Punch.ev and want the same look in the petrol version, then wait for a few months. The design of Punch facelift will be similar to the EV version. Features like 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 2-spoke steering wheel and touch-based AC control can also be found in the interior.

scorpio n
Scorpio N The next SUV that we recommend you buy is Mahindra's best selling SUV – Scorpio N. This SUV is so powerful that you can forget about a car like Fortuner, but still would not recommend buying it in 2025. Why? Because like the Punch facelift, major changes are going to come in Scorpio N too. The SUV has been spotted testing several times and its launch may take place around February 2026. But if you wait for a few months, what new will you get in the SUV?

Why not buy?
With the facelift, the front profile of the Scorpio N may become even more aggressive, which will include new headlamps, grille and bumper. At the same time, changes can also be seen in the interior, especially in the dashboard, which will now get a floating 10.25 inch touchscreen system. Apart from this, features like Harman Kardon sound system, panoramic sunroof and new interior color theme can also be added.

Mahindra XUV 700
The next name in this list is another popular SUV of Mahindra – XUV. Ever since it was launched in 2021, this SUV has taken the Indian auto market by storm due to its advanced technology. Even today it is the best selling SUV in its segment. Then why are we advising you to ignore such a wonderful car? The reason is – Mahindra XUV 7XO.

Why not buy?
Mahindra XUV 7XO is not a separate product, but an advanced version of the XUV700. XUV700 has been renamed as XUV 7XO, which is scheduled to be launched on January 5, 2026. But why should you wait for the XUV 7XO? Actually, while converting XUV700 into XUV 7XO, Mahindra has made major changes in the design of the SUV. According to teasers and spy shots, the SUV will get new headlamps, new front grille, new taillamps and redesigned bumpers. This will make the SUV look more stylish than before. At the same time, there will be changes in the interior and new features like – triple screen layout, Harmon Kardon sound system, powered co-driver seat, ventilated second row seats and many more will be available.
