The e-scooter shows a more rounded styling, as well as its new bar-type, LED headlamp placed at the bottom of the apron, which reminds us of the TVS iQube. The large body shell and seat are evident. The water wading test demonstrates the vehicle’s ability to ride through flooded areas without the water penetrating critical components.

The teaser video shows the battery undergoing a 40-foot drop test to demonstrate the durability of the component that will power the upcoming Rizta family electric scooter.
Ather Energy will reveal the new Rizta electric scooter on April 6, 2024, at the Ather Community Day. Ahead of the debut, the company is slowly revealing little details about the upcoming offering in a bid to keep buyers excited. The latest teaser video has now dropped on Ather’s social media and shows the new battery pack on the Rizta.
The teaser video shows the battery undergoing a 40-foot drop test to demonstrate the durability of the component. The video ends with the battery pack successfully withstanding the impact at the end of the test. The company says that the drop test showcases the battery pack’s ability to withstand shocks when going over bad roads. That’s all the details the company has shared so far without giving out numbers on the capacity or range. The flat design though hints at the battery going under the floorboard, similar to the Ather 450X, which would ensure maximum space under the seat.
Details remain scarce but Ather has promised the biggest seat in the segment and under-seat storage for the Rizta family e-scooter. The company currently builds battery packs in the 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh capacities respectively. The former promises a range of 111 km, while the latter offers a range of 150 km (certified) on a single charge. It needs to be seen if the Rizta will get the same battery pack or if the company opt for something larger in the interest of a higher range.
The bigger battery pack will also increase the weight of the scooter, which will be another challenge for the company. Hence, it needs to be seen how the Rizta is engineered to accommodate the needs of the family scooter buyer. Complete details on the Rizta should be available early next month. Make sure to keep watching this space for all the action.

From Ather to Ola and everything in between, there is something from every major EV player coming up in 2024.
2023 was a particularly challenging year for the electric two-wheeler segment. While demand soared on one end, manufacturers also faced challenges with the revision of the FAME II subsidy hiking prices across the EV space. Nevertheless, the demand continues to be on the rise for electric two-wheelers and manufacturers – new and traditional alike – are gearing up to introduce many new models in the coming year.
With electric two-wheeler sales exceeding the 8.3 lakh mark in 2023, the number is only expected to increase further in 2024. So if you are looking to bring a new electric scooter or motorcycle home next year, this should be the list to watch out for. From Ather to Ola and everything in between, there is something for everyone in this space. Here are the top 10 electric two-wheeler launches lined up in 2024.
Kicking off the new year will be the Ather 450 Apex. The new electric scooter arrives on January 6 and will be a new limited-run model line based on the 450X. The teaser images promise the transparent side panels from the 450X Series 1 limited edition, as well as a boost in performance. Expect to see visual upgrades as well when the 450 Apex arrives next month, albeit in limited numbers.
2. Ampere NXG
Ampere Electric Mobility, the EV arm of Greaves Cotton, previewed the NXG electric scooter at the 2023 Auto Expo and the model is slated to arrive in 2024. Showcased as a concept, the Ampere NXG is expected to stick close to the concept in shape and form while packing a 7-inch TFT screen, PMS mid-drive electric motor and a host of other features. The Ampere NXG will be the new flagship offering from the company and will take on the Ather 450X, Ola S1 Pro and Simple One presently on sale.
3. TVS iQube ST
While the TVS iQube is one of the best-selling electric scooters on sale, the much-awaited iQube ST continues to elude the market. The model was even showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. The TVS iQube ST will be the top-spec variant of the electric scooter and packs a larger 4.56 kWh battery pack with a longer range of 145 km in Eco mode and 110 km in Power mode. The iQube ST also gets a higher top speed of 82 kmph as against 78 kmph on the iQube S. The e-scooter will come with a 950W charger powering the battery from 0-80 per cent in 4 hours and 6 minutes, while the company will also offer a 1,500W charger that’ll shorten the charging time to 2 hours and 30 minutes. The ST variant will be 3 kg heavier and will also get a price bump upon arrival.
4. 2024 Bajaj Chetak Premium
The 2024 Chetak Urbane was launched recently with a subtle refresh and you can expect the more premium Chetak Premium variant to arrive over the next few weeks. According to leaked documents, the 2024 Chetak Premium will carry a larger 3.2 kWh fixed battery promising a longer range of 126 km on a single charge. The electric scooter will also get a new 7-inch touchscreen console that will bring features like turn-by-turn navigation and notification alerts. The top speed will also increase to 73 kmph on the top variant. The 2024 Bajaj Chetak Premium should be more competitively equipped to take on the Ather 450S, Ola S1 Air, Simple Dot One and the like in the segment.
5. Ather Family Scooter
Also coming from the house of Ather Energy next year will be the family electric scooter. Ather Energy has been testing its new offering and the e-scooter is expected to grace showrooms in 2024. Details are scarce about the new family electric scooter but the model is expected to be more rounded and appealing to a wider audience and will give Ather a stronger product to level up its volume game. The new family e-scooter is also likely to be more affordable than the 450X.
6. Honda Electric Scooter & Motorcycle
Making its debut in the electric mobility segment will be Honda Two-Wheelers India with its maiden electric offering. The company has already announced its plans to bring two electric scooters with fixed and swappable batteries respectively. Honda Global also announced recently that an electric motorcycle will be made in India and is slated to arrive in 2024. India will play a major role in Honda’s electric mobility plans going forward, especially in producing mass-market EVs. Honda’s maiden electric scooter should arrive by March 2024.
7. Tork Kratos X
The Tork Kratos X was first unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo and was slated to arrive in June 2023. However, the FAME II subsidy revisions threw a spanner in the works of the Pune-based start-up. Tork Motors now plans to bring the Kratos X by mid-2024 and the electric motorcycle will see key changes over the one showcased at the expo. The X will be the flagship offering but will also come with an upgraded motor for better power and torque output. It needs to be seen if the aluminium swingarm, 7-inch TFT screen and winglets will be carried over on the updated version.
8. Ola M1 Electric Motorcycle
Ola Electric announced a foray into the electric motorcycle segment in August this year and we expect to see the first offering from the company arrive towards the end of 2024. Dubbed the M1 electric motorcycle range, the company showcased four concepts – roadster, cruiser, adventure and supersport – and we could see the final production versions arrive next year. Ola did not share any technical details on the upcoming e-motorcycles but promised that the bikes will see the biggest battery pack and motor on any Indian electric two-wheeler. At present, the UltravioletteF77 has the biggest battery pack at 10.5 kWh.
9. Matter Aera
Having launched its maiden e-bike earlier this year, Ahmedabad-based Matter will finally begin deliveries of the Aera electric motorcycle next year. The Matter Aera is priced from ₹1.73 lakh to ₹1.83 lakh (ex-showroom) and the reservation window is currently open. The Matter Aera is powered by a 10.5 kW (14 bhp) mid-mounted motor with 520 Nm of torque at the wheel. The e-motorcycle packs a 5 kWh battery pack promising a range of 150 km on a single charge. The Aera will be the first electric motorcycle to get a liquid-cooled motor and battery, and a functional 4-speed gearbox. Deliveries should begin from March 2024 onwards.
10. Kinetic Green e-Luna
Making a comeback in an all-electric avatar, Kinetic Green will revive the Luna name for its upcoming electric two-wheeler called the ‘e-Luna.’ The electric moped promises to be as functional as its yester-year ICE version and will pack a host of features as well. The company has not revealed more details about the e-Luna but the model is expected to arrive in the first half of 2024.
It’s the last month of the calendar year and we are all set to get some exciting launches in the market, especially in the electric mobility space. From new variants to special editions and a new brand identity, electric two-wheeler makers have plenty of new offerings lined up, making sure December 2023 will be a busy month for us.

We bring together all the major upcoming electric scooter launches that you can look forward to in December.
Bajaj Chetak Urbane
Kickstarting this month has been Bajaj Auto with the updated Chetak Urbane. The new base variant gets a revised range, drum brakes, and a single Eco riding mode. It also gets a more affordable price tag starting at ₹1.15 lakh, going up to ₹1.21 (all prices, ex-showroom) for the Tecpac with more connectivity options, electronic aids and an additional riding mode. Expect the Bajaj Chetak Premium to be updated soon as well.
Ather Energy has announced its plans to launch the 450 Apex soon. The new offering promises to be the fastest iteration of the 450X with impressive acceleration and performance numbers. We wait to see how the new scooter will shape in terms of the hardware and will the upgrades come at a significant premium.
Simple Dot One
Simple Energy may be slow in delivering its maiden electric scooter but that hasn’t stopped the company from announcing its second electric offering. The Simple Dot One is expected to be the start-up’s most accessible model and is likely to share the underpinnings with the One. More details on the Dot One will be available in the coming days.
4. Kinetic Green electric scooter
Kinetic Green is all set to introduce a new electric scooter on December 11, which will mark a new chapter for the company. While details are scarce about the new e-scooter, the company promises to announce a new brand identity with the upcoming model, making it all that special. More details on Kinetic Green’s upcoming electric scooter will be available soon.
5. Gogoro Crossover
Taiwanese electric mobility company Gogoro is all set to bring its first electric offering to the Indian market in the form of the Crossover e-scooter. Making its debut earlier this year, the Gogoro Crossover is a rugged little offering that packs several off-road friendly components that aid in tackling rough terrain easily. Gogoro has not confirmed if it will be making any changes to the e-scooter for the Indian market but we do know that the model will be made in India and is being targeted at B2B users, due to its versatility.
Multi-brand EV platform BLive has deployed 30 Ather electric scooters that will be used for last-mile deliveries in the city of Ahmedabad. The move is a part of BLive and Zomato’s partnership that began in July this year and will see the former electrify the food delivery aggregator’s last-mile delivery needs. The first such initiative was taken in Hyderabad and BLive is looking to expand the same to other cities. BLive aims to expand its EV fleet across 20 cities in the future.
By: HT Auto Desk | Updated on: 16 Nov 2023, 19:15 PM
Not just Ather electric scooters but BLive manages over 40 brands on its digital platform including electric two-, three- and four-wheelers. The company is looking to expand its footprint to 100 premium multi-brand stores by 2024, offering a range of EVs and services. The company also facilitates EV adoption for personal and business use, as in the case of Zomato, by offering charging infrastructure, post-sales service and easy financing options.
Speaking about the announcement, Samarth Kholkar – CEO and co-founder – BLive, “In our ongoing commitment to fostering green mobility solutions, BLive is thrilled to join forces with Zomato and Ather to introduce 30 Ather electric vehicles for food delivery in Ahmedabad. Our objective is to transform the way deliveries are made, setting a new standard in the industry by integrating EVs into Zomato’s operations. We are excited to bring this sustainable initiative to Ahmedabad, a city that is already showing great enthusiasm for green delivery solutions. This partnership marks a significant step towards a cleaner and greener future in the delivery ecosystem, showcasing BLive’s commitment to environmental sustainability and business innovation.”

Nikhil Patil, Head – Corporate Sales at Ather Energy, said, “We are delighted to partner with BLive and Zomato to contribute to a more sustainable and eco-friendly future for food delivery in Ahmedabad. Electric vehicles are not only known for their performance but also for their environmental impact. Our vision aligns perfectly with this initiative, and we look forward to witnessing the positive change our electric scooters will bring to the delivery landscape in the city.”
Ather Energy presently retails two electric scooters – 450S and 450X. Retail pricing on electric scooters starts at ₹1.30 lakh for the 450S and ₹1.38 lakh for the 450X. All prices are ex-showroom, Bengaluru. The Ather 450S makes do with fewer features and a smaller 2.9 kWh battery pack, while the 450X is available with the 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh battery pack options.
Electric vehicle manufacturer Ather Energy has taken to its X handle to help customers reboot their scooter dashboard if it has got stuck after receiving an emergency alert test notification from the government. The OEM posted a YouTube video link demonstrating the procedure to reboot the dashboard. This comes after many citizens received the emergency test notification on their phones on Tuesday.
By: HT Auto Desk | Updated on: 12 Oct 2023, 17:00 PM
The EV maker said that the owner will need to reboot the scooter dashboard by holding both brakes and then pressing the start switch for 10 seconds. “If your dashboard stopped responding following the message… This should restore normal functioning,” the tweet read.
In a separate development, the company recently released a fresh OTA update for the 450X customers, which now shows energy recuperation through regeneration on the model’s digital console. The feature has been rolled out for the Ather 450X Gen3 and Gen2 customers so far.
The digital dashboard on the Ather 450X shows the regen at work whether using Active or Braking regen feature. Regenerative braking essentially allows the vehicle to convert energy lost while braking into powering the battery, which in turn extends the range of the vehicle. This is why, electric vehicles with regenerative braking will offer even better range in the city, where instances of braking are higher.
The Ather 450X is currently priced from ₹1.38 lakh onwards for the 2.9 kWh battery pack. It’s available in two variants – Core and Pro – with the latter priced at ₹1.53 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Bengaluru. The company has temporarily stopped accepting bookings for the 3.7 kWh battery pack at the moment.
Ather Energy has commenced deliveries of 450S in the Indian market. The image of the delivery was shared by Tarun Mehta, Co-founder and CEO of Ather Energy. The 450S is the most affordable electric scooter in Ather’s lineup. The 450S is priced at ₹1.30 lakh ex-showroom. It competes against the Ola S1 Air in the Indian market.

Ather started accepting bookings of the 450S back in June this year. The price of the scooter complies with the FAME 2 scheme. The customers can avail further benefits from respective states’ own electric vehicle policies. The design of the Ather 450S is identical to the 450X. However, there are some changes which have helped in dropping the costs.
Ather 450S comes equipped with a 3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that claims to offer 115 km of range on a single charge. Using home chargers, the battery pack can be charged up to 80 per cent in around six hours and 36 minutes while charging up to 100 per cent takes eight hours and 36 minutes.
The electric motor is capable of generating 7.24 bhp of peak power and 22 Nm of maximum torque. The 450S electric scooter can also run at a top speed of 90 kmph. Ather 450S offers three ride modes with the 450S which include Sport mode, Eco mode and Ride mode.
Watch: Ather 450S review: Worthy of its price tag?
Another big difference between the 450X and the 450S is the instrument cluster. The 450S uses a new coloured LCD instrument cluster. It still comes with features such as Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. But now, it uses MapMyIndia’s navigation system instead of Google Maps. Ather Energy has also added a joystick on the switch console that can be used to control the instrument cluster. Moreover, the reverse mode is simply a button. Earlier, the rider would need to swipe on the screen to get into the reverse mode.
Ather Energy is gearing up to deliver the 450S electric scooters to its customers ahead of the festive season. The Bengaluru-based EV maker has started to roll out its most affordable electric scooter from its facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Tarun Mehta, founder and CEO at Ather Energy, shared the new electric scooters being prepared for delivery today. The electric scooter, which rivals the likes of Ola S1 Air, was launched earlier this year at a price of ₹1.30 lakh (ex-showroom).

The bookings for the Ather 450S started in June this year when the electric scooter was officially launched. Ather Energy says the price complies with the revised FAME 2 scheme. The customers can avail further benefits from respective states’ own electric vehicle policies.
Ather 450S comes equipped with a 3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that claims to offer 115 kms of range on a single charge.
In terms of design, there is very little to differentiate the 450S from its more premium sibling 450X. Ather 450S gets the same curvy front cowl with the same LED headlamp as the 450X. From the side profile and rear too, it looks exactly the same as the flagship Ather electric scooter.
The big difference between the Ather 450S and 450XX is the instrument cluster. To keep the cost down, Ather replaced the unit used in 450X with an LCD panel, which lacks usual map navigation. In 450S, one needs to use the MapMyIndia-powered navigation system which offers turn-by-turn navigation.
Ather Energy has released a new teaser on social media, which reveals that they will be launching the three electric scooters on 11th August. What has been confirmed is the launch of the 450S, which will be the most affordable electric scooter in Ather’s lineup. As of now, the manufacturer is selling only the 450X in the Indian market. It is offered in two versions – with the Pro Pack and without the Pro Pack.
By: HT Auto Desk | Updated on: 08 Aug 2023, 15:43 PM
So, it can be expected that the two remaining scooters will be updated versions of the 450X electric scooter. One gripe that many people have reported is the charging time of the Ather 450X without the Pro Pack. So, there is a possibility that Ather might just reduce the battery size to reduce charging times. Apart from this, there is a possibility that Ather will also update the 450X electric scooter. However, nothing has been confirmed yet. The manufacturer will not be introducing a new design language or platform as of now. This was confirmed when Ather launched Atherstack 5.0.
Speaking of the new scooter, the Ather 450S will look more or less the same as the 450X. However, it will come with a new LCD display with coloured elements. So, it is expected that the 450S will miss out on Google Maps and connected technology. Ather is promising a claimed range of 115 km on a single charge and a top speed of 90 kmph. It is expected that the 450S will use the same electric motor as the 450X, considering the top speed of both electric scooters is the same.
Ather Energy has already revealed the pricing details of the upcoming 450S electric scooter. It will be available at an introductory price of ₹129,999 (ex-showroom). Ather has not revealed to what extent the introductory pricing will be available for consumers.
Ather Energy is all set to unveil its next big electric scooter on August 3. The EV startup has been teasing its upcoming Ather 450S for the last few weeks. Slated to be unveiled on August 11, the Ather 450S is going to be the brand’s most affordable electric scooter, which will compete with rivals like Ola S1 Air, just like the Ather 450X competes with the Ola S1 Pro. The upcoming electric scooter will arrive as a toned-down and cheaper version of the manufacturer’s flagship model 450X.

Ather Energy has already revealed the pricing details of the upcoming 450S electric scooter. It will be available at an introductory price of ₹129,999 (ex-showroom). Ather has not revealed to what extent the introductory pricing will be available for the consumers. The design of the upcoming 450S remains a mystery.

Ather has revealed that the Ather 450S will come featuring a different instrument cluster compared to the 450X. It would feature an LCD panel with a lack of connectivity and navigational features compared to 450X. It could miss out on cloud connectivity, Google Map functionality and Bluetooth connectivity as well. Also, expect it to come with a joystick for controlling the screen.
The Ather 450S is claimed to come promising a 115 km range on a single charge, at a top speed of 90 kmph. However, the EV manufacturer has not revealed any further specification details of the upcoming scooter. Considering the top speed of the 450S same as the 450X, it could come powered by the same motor as the flagship model. The electric motor is capable of churning out 8.58 bhp of peak power and 26 Nm of maximum torque. Ather 450X gets energy from a 3.7 kWh battery pack that delivers a 146 km range on a single charge. Considering the fact that 450S will offer a 115 km range on a full charge, it could come powered by a smaller 3 kWh battery pack.
