2026 Tata Tiago EV vs MG Comet EV: Same price, but who is ahead in value? before buying

2026 Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV are two popular entry-level electric cars in the Indian market, which are perfect for city commuting. Tiago EV has recently been launched with facelift and has made the entry price attractive with new design, better features and safety. Whereas MG Comet EV attracts young buyers with its compact size and premium feel.

Talking about the price, Tata Tiago EV starts at ₹ 6.99 lakh (Smart 19.2 kWh), which goes up to ₹ 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top Creative+ 24 kWh variant. In BaaS option it can start from ₹ 4.69 lakh. The price of MG Comet EV ranges between ₹7.50 lakh to ₹9.56 lakh. The Tiago EV seems slightly cheaper and more value-for-money. Now let us look at the details from their design to their range.

Design and interior

The Tiago EV now looks more modern and premium with sharp LED headlamps, connected taillights and revised bumpers. This is a 5-seater family hatchback. The Comet EV is a very compact (less than 3 metres), 4-seater car with retro-modern looks, which is easy to park in the city but has less road presence than the Tiago.

Tiago EV gets dual-tone cabin, 10.25-inch touchscreen and better space. 5 people can sit comfortably. The dual 10.25-inch screen setup in Comet EV gives a premium feel, but space is limited. Only two people can sit comfortably at the back. Tiago is more practical.

Features and safety

Both have wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, auto AC and connected tech. Tiago EV gets 360-degree camera, multi drive modes and more storage. Features like the panoramic sunroof in the Comet EV are attractive, but the Tiago seems more feature-packed overall. Tiago EV is strong. It has got 6 airbags, ESC, 360 camera and good structure. Comet EV is also safe, but Tiago's safety rating and features are considered better.

Battery, Motor and Range

The Tiago EV has 19.2 kWh (61 PS, 226 km MIDC) or 24 kWh (75 PS, 285 km MIDC) battery options. Real-world range is 160-215 KM. The Comet EV has a single 17.3 kWh battery (42 PS, 230 km MIDC) and has a real-world range of around 180-190 km. Tiago EV is more powerful, has better range and is useful on the highway. Charging supports AC/DC in both.

Overall, if you want family use and better range then Tata Tiago EV is a better option. If you just want a stylish commuter in the city then you can choose MG Comet EV. Tiago EV leads in value and practicality.
