Big decision of Maruti! This car with 5-star rating will not run in taxis, know why the company took this step

New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki vehicles are known for their low price and excellent mileage. This is the reason why these cars are also very popular among taxi operators. Especially, Maruti Dezire was bought extensively as a taxi in the compact sedan segment. But, its effect was that the customers who wanted to take it for their personal use started staying away from it. In view of this, Maruti Suzuki has taken a big decision. The company has announced that the upcoming 5-star rated new Dezire will not be sold as a taxi.

The Tour S variant of Dzire is very popular among taxi operators. This variant is specifically designed for commercial use, with priority given to features that make it suitable for use as a taxi.

Will the Tour S variant be updated?
With the launch of the new Dezire, the question is arising whether the Dezire Tour S will also be updated or not. At present, this does not seem to be happening. It may take some time for the Desire Tour S to be upgraded to the fourth generation model. Till then this variant will remain available in the market along with its current third generation model.

The Tour S variant contributes significantly to the total sales of Dezire. According to the data, more than 1.65 lakh units of Dezire were sold in the financial year 2023-24, of which about 40% was of the Tour S variant.

Better safety features in new Dezire
The new Maruti Dezire has already been tested in the Global NCAP crash test, in which the car performed brilliantly. It has received 5-star rating for adult protection and 4-star rating for child protection.
– Adult Protection Score: 31.24 points out of 34
– Child Protection Score: 39.20 points out of 42

This is the first car from Maruti to achieve 5-star safety rating.

Big change in design
The design of the new Dezire is completely different from the old model. It has a large front grille, rectangular LED headlights, and redesigned fog lamps. Y-shaped LED taillights and chrome strip at the rear make its look even better. The top variant has 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and LED lights with DRLs. Its wheelbase is 2,450 mm and ground clearance is 163 mm, making it suitable for Indian roads.

Engine and powertrain
The new Dezire has a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Z-series petrol engine. This engine generates power of 82hp and torque of 112Nm. 5-speed manual and AMT gearbox options are available in the vehicle.

This step of Maruti has been taken keeping in mind those customers who want to buy it for their personal use. The new Dezire has now become an even better option as a family sedan.
