Tata Tiago or Hyundai Grand i10 Nios? Know which is the real value for money hatchback

2026 Tata Tiago vs Hyundai Grand i10 Nios: Tata Tiago and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios are face to face in the budget hatchback segment. Tiago has made a strong entry with the new generation, while Nios is giving a strong competition with its premium feel and features. The ex-showroom price of Tiago starts at ₹4.69 lakh (Smart Petrol), which starts at ₹5.79 lakh for CNG.

The Grand i10 Nios starts at ₹5.55 lakh (Era Petrol) and the top variant goes around ₹8 lakh. While Tiago focuses on value for money and safety, Nios offers a refined drive and stylish interiors. Both are available in 1.2 liter petrol and CNG options. Perfect for city roads, both these cars remain the choice of families and first-time buyers. Let us take a look at their design, engine and performance details.

Design

The 2026 Tata Tiago gets a completely new look. Modern appeal with sharp headlamps, new front grille and rear design. It looks compact (about 3767 mm long) and aggressive. With crisp lines and a bold front, the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios sports more sleek and premium styling. Nios is slightly longer (3815 mm), which gives more presence on the road. Tiago suits young buyers, while Nios suits family users.

interior

The cabin of the Tiago is significantly upgraded with a new dashboard, dual-tone theme, 10.25-inch touchscreen and fully digital cluster. Space is good, but may seem a little tight compared to Nios. The Grand i10 Nios offers superior material quality, spacious cabin and comfortable seats. Both have rear AC vents and USB C ports, but the finishing of Nios looks a little more premium.

Features and safety

The Tiago comes with segment-first features like 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, wireless charging and paddle shifters in AMT. The Nios also offers cruise control, good infotainment and connected car tech. Tiago is slightly ahead in features, especially in the cheaper variants. Tiago is strong in safety. Tata has given priority to safety with 6 airbags as standard, ESP, traction control and other safety features. The Nios also offers good safety, but not as comprehensive as the Tiago. Tiago will be liked by safety-conscious families.

Engine and Mileage

Both are with 1.2L engine. Tiago gives 85-86 PS power in petrol, slightly less in CNG. Nios has power around 82 PS. The Tiago's engine is punchy and fun to drive. Talking about mileage, Tiago can run up to 19-20 kmpl in petrol and 26+ km/kg in CNG. At the same time, Nios is capable of giving a mileage of 16-18 kmpl in petrol and up to 27 km/kg in CNG. If you want safety, value and lower price, then Tiago is a better option.
