2026 Tata Tiago vs Maruti Celerio: Within the Indian car market, both Tata Tiago and Maruti Celerio give tough competition in the entry-level hatchback segment. Ex-showroom prices for the Tiago start at ₹4.69 lakh (going up to ₹8.55 lakh for the top variant), while the Celerio also starts at ₹4.70 lakh and goes up to ₹6.73 lakh.

Design and interior

Engine and Mileage

Tata Tiago has a 1.2L Revotron petrol engine (85 bhp), which is powerful and responsive. CNG option is also available. The Celerio's 1.0L K10C engine (66-67 bhp) is light and smooth. Celerio is ahead in mileage. 25-26 kmpl (ARAI) in petrol, 34+ km/kg in CNG. Whereas, Tiago gives a mileage of around 19-23 kmpl in petrol. Celerio is more economical in the city, while Tiago is better in highway and performance.

Our advice: If you want safety, premium feel and features then choose Tata Tiago. Maruti Celerio is better for pure mileage and low expenses. Both are reliable, but the 2026 Tata Tiago offers more value.

2026 Tata Tiago ICE and Electric Facelift has been officially unveiled. Tata Motors has released the teaser of the facelift model of its popular entry-level hatchback Tiago in both variants (ICE and EV), which reveals the new design language, updated features and improved safety. The launch is scheduled to take place on 28 May 2026.

Looking at the expected pricing, the ICE variant could start around ₹4.8 lakh to ₹8 lakh (ex-showroom), while the Tiago EV could start from ₹8 lakh and go up to ₹11-12 lakh. The price is expected to increase slightly due to new features and design changes. It will compete with vehicles like Maruti Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and WagonR.

Design (Exterior)

In the teaser and spy images, Tiago's look has become quite sharp, aged and modern. The old curvy lines have now been replaced by sleek and aggressive designs. Let us know where and what changes have taken place?

Front: The Nexon looks aggressive with a blanked-out glossy black fascia (in place of the grille), slim rectangular LED headlamps, a large lower air dam with vertical slats.

Side: New alloy wheels, sharp lines.

Rear: Connected LED taillamps.

What was seen in the photos?

The teaser images mainly show the front and side profiles, in which the new LED lighting, blank front and overall aged silhouette are clearly visible. The design of both EV and ICE is quite similar, the closed front will be more noticeable in EV.

You will get good mileage in petrol (claimed around 20+ kmpl), it will be even better in CNG. Slight improvement is possible with new tuning.

  • Battery: 19.2 kWh (medium range) and 24 kWh (long range) options.
  • Motor: 60 bhp / 110 Nm in 19.2 kWh, 74 bhp / 114 Nm in 24 kWh.
  • Range: 223 km (19.2 kWh) and 293 km (24 kWh) at MIDC. In real-world range can be achieved up to 180-220 km.
  • Charging: 10-80% about 58 minutes on DC fast charger.

Overall, the 2026 Tata Tiago facelift is bringing a major update in the entry-level segment. New design, better features and standard 6 airbags will make it value for money.
