Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has registered sales of 28,441 units in the domestic market in June 2026, which shows an annual growth of 7.52% as compared to 26,453 units in June 2025 last year. The company has sold 1,988 more units during this period. However, there was a monthly decline of 6.98% in June as compared to 30,574 units in May 2026. The urban cruiser Highrider again maintained its dominance in Toyota's portfolio and this model alone contributed 32.01% of the company's total sales.

This month both SUV and MPV segments have given mixed performance. On one hand, Hyrider and Glanza showed strong growth. At the same time, there was a decline in the sales of popular vehicles like Innova Hycross, Crysta and Fortuner. In such a situation, it can be estimated that the demand for hybrid and compact models is increasing in the Indian market. Let's take a look at the company's model-wise sales report.

Toyota Hyrider

Toyota's best-selling car, the Urban Cruiser Highrider, has sold 9,104 units in June 2026, which is an increase of 22% compared to 7,462 units last year. This model accounts for 32% of the company's total monthly sales. It also increased by 5% compared to May. Due to hybrid powertrain, modern features and SUV styling, Hyrider remains very popular among the customers.

Toyota Innova Hycross

Innova Hycross, which was in second position, sold a total of 4,510 units, but there was a decline of 21.51% in sales on an annual basis. In June last year, its sales were 5,746 units. Even on monthly basis, a huge decline of 32.91% was recorded. The company is working on a facelift version of the HiCross, which may boost sales in the future.

Toyota Glanza

Toyota Glanza stood third with sales of 3,512 units, showing a year-on-year growth of 19.54%. There was also an improvement of 9.82% compared to May. Glanza is quite popular among young buyers in the hatchback segment due to its reliability and fuel efficiency.

Toyota Innova Crysta

2,822 units of Innova Crysta have been sold, but there was an annual decline of 7.66% in sales. It is still strong in the MPV segment, but is feeling some pressure due to increasing competition. There was also a decline of 21.68% on monthly basis.

Toyota Fortuner

Fortuner sold 2,514 units, showing a decline of 8.35% year-on-year and 13.46% month-on-month. Despite strong competition in the premium SUV segment, it remains Toyota's favorite off-roader vehicle.

Apart from the top-5 cars of the company mentioned above, last month 2483 units of Taisor, 2376 units of Rumion, 459 units of Ebella, 289 units of Hilux, 191 units of Camry, 140 units of Vellfire and only 41 units of LC300 were sold.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has issued a voluntary recall for 2,305 units of the Glanza hatchback in the country. The affected Toyota Glanza models were manufactured between April 2 and October 6, 2019, and the defect is related to a faulty fuel pump motor. Toyota said that the recall campaign is in continuation to the one conducted on July 31, 2020.

More recently, Maruti Suzuki recalled 16,000 units of the Baleno for the same reason. Both the Glanza and Baleno share the same underpinnings and are essentially badge-engineered cousins. The models are made by Suzuki for either manufacturer. Toyota said that there could be a possible issue with the fuel pump motor in the affected vehicles, which could lead to engine stalling.

Toyota Glanza
The Toyota Glanza is a badge-engineered version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and both models are built at the Suzuki plant in Gujarat

Toyota will reach out to customers of the affected vehicles and will carry out the rectification under the recall campaign procedures. The complete process will be free of cost. The popular hatchback comes with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine tuned for 89 bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. It’s paired with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT unit. Toyota also offers a CNG version, making the Glanza its most affordable CNG model in the country. The Toyota Glanza is priced from ₹6.86 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) onwards.

Toyota is all set to expand its portfolio on April 3, 2024, with another badge-engineered offering. The company will introduce the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, which will come with different styling, while carrying the same interior and underpinnings. Toyota Motor expects its sales in India to will continue to soar with rebadged Maruti Suzuki models. The Japanese auto giant, which is in a partnership with the Indo-Japanese carmaker, hopes 2023 to be the best year for Toyota in India since its debut here. Toyota currently sells at least two rebadged Maruti Suzuki models in the country. It has rebadged Maruti Baleno hatchback as Glanza and Ertiga MPV as Rumion. Around 40 per cent of Toyota’s sales in the first eight months this year has come from rebadged Maruti cars.

Speaking to news agency Reuters, Atul Sood, Vice President of Sales at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said that Maruti’s portfolio of affordable cars continue to attract buyers, helping to boost its sales. In 2022, Toyota sold more than 1.60 lakh cars in India. In comparison, the Japanese auto giant has already sold nearly 1.50 lakh vehicles till August and is on track to break its all-time annual sales record in the country this year. “We are confident of closing this calendar year with our best ever performance and setting a new benchmark. The HyRyder has given us a new set of customers who are majorly upgrading. The majority of the demand is coming from a younger profile,” Sood said.

Toyota also plans to expand its footprint across India. Sood said the Japanese carmaker will now focus on the smaller cities in various parts to reach out to more customers. Currently, Toyota has over 600 dealerships located all over the country.

Among the cars it currently sells, Toyota Glanza and Urban Cruiser HyRyder SUV are among the best-selling models from the carmaker in India. While Glanza is a rebadged Maruti car, the SUV was jointly developed with Maruti Suzuki, which the latter sells as Grand Vitara. Toyota Glanza comes at a starting price of ₹6.81 lakh and goes up to ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom). The Urban Cruiser HyRyder SUV price starts from ₹10.73 lakh and goes up to ₹19.74 lakh (ex-showroom).

Toyota recently launched the Rumion MPV, which is also a rebadged Maruti model called Ertiga. The three-row MPV was launched at ₹10.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The price of the Toyota MPV goes up to ₹13.68 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-end variant. It is also offered with CNG technology.

Besides these three, Toyota also sells Innova HyCross and Innova Crysta MPVs in India. The Innova HyCross, offered with strong hybrid tech like the HyRyder SUV, comes at a starting price of ₹19.67 lakh and goes up to ₹30.26 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti Suzuki has launched the rebadged version of the HyCross as Invicto earlier this year. The Innova Crysta and HyCross remain Toyota’s best-selling models. The Fortuner SUV is the only other SUV other than HyRyder in Toyota’s fleet. The large SUV is priced between ₹33 lakh and ₹50.74 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hilux pickup truck, launched at ₹30.40 lakh, makes up Toyota’s lineup in India.
