Toyota Hyrider becomes the company's best selling car, demand for Innova-Fortuner decreased!

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has registered sales of 28,441 units in the domestic market in June 2026, which shows an annual growth of 7.52% as compared to 26,453 units in June 2025 last year. The company has sold 1,988 more units during this period. However, there was a monthly decline of 6.98% in June as compared to 30,574 units in May 2026. The urban cruiser Highrider again maintained its dominance in Toyota's portfolio and this model alone contributed 32.01% of the company's total sales.

This month both SUV and MPV segments have given mixed performance. On one hand, Hyrider and Glanza showed strong growth. At the same time, there was a decline in the sales of popular vehicles like Innova Hycross, Crysta and Fortuner. In such a situation, it can be estimated that the demand for hybrid and compact models is increasing in the Indian market. Let's take a look at the company's model-wise sales report.

Toyota Hyrider

Toyota's best-selling car, the Urban Cruiser Highrider, has sold 9,104 units in June 2026, which is an increase of 22% compared to 7,462 units last year. This model accounts for 32% of the company's total monthly sales. It also increased by 5% compared to May. Due to hybrid powertrain, modern features and SUV styling, Hyrider remains very popular among the customers.

Toyota Innova Hycross

Innova Hycross, which was in second position, sold a total of 4,510 units, but there was a decline of 21.51% in sales on an annual basis. In June last year, its sales were 5,746 units. Even on monthly basis, a huge decline of 32.91% was recorded. The company is working on a facelift version of the HiCross, which may boost sales in the future.

Toyota Glanza

Toyota Glanza stood third with sales of 3,512 units, showing a year-on-year growth of 19.54%. There was also an improvement of 9.82% compared to May. Glanza is quite popular among young buyers in the hatchback segment due to its reliability and fuel efficiency.

Toyota Innova Crysta

2,822 units of Innova Crysta have been sold, but there was an annual decline of 7.66% in sales. It is still strong in the MPV segment, but is feeling some pressure due to increasing competition. There was also a decline of 21.68% on monthly basis.

Toyota Fortuner

Fortuner sold 2,514 units, showing a decline of 8.35% year-on-year and 13.46% month-on-month. Despite strong competition in the premium SUV segment, it remains Toyota's favorite off-roader vehicle.

Apart from the top-5 cars of the company mentioned above, last month 2483 units of Taisor, 2376 units of Rumion, 459 units of Ebella, 289 units of Hilux, 191 units of Camry, 140 units of Vellfire and only 41 units of LC300 were sold.

Sales of hybrid vehicles in the Indian automobile market looked quite mixed in June 2026. Flagship models from companies like Toyota and Maruti Suzuki led this segment, although a decline was also recorded in some models. Total hybrid sales in June came in with a different performance compared to the previous month. In the SUV and crossover categories, the Toyota Hyrider posted strong growth, while the Innova Hycross also made good gains. Maruti Suzuki models showed strong monthly growth, with Victoris especially attracting attention with a 91.4% increase.

This trend shows that Indian customers are now increasingly turning towards petrol-electric hybrid technology. Demand for hybrid vehicles is increasing due to fuel savings, low emissions and government incentives. The figures for June 2026 are also showing positive signs compared to last year. Auto industry experts believe that the hybrid segment will strengthen in the coming months as customers are shifting from traditional ICE vehicles to hybrids. Let's take a look at the model wise sales report of this segment.

Toyota Hyrider

Toyota Hyrider performed brilliantly in the SUV and crossover segment in June 2026. Its sales stood at 3,550 units, which is 13.7% more than 3,123 units in May 2026. The popularity of this model is due to its attractive design, powerful hybrid powertrain and excellent mileage. Hyryder remains the first choice of customers in the mid-size SUV segment. The company's strong dealer network and marketing strategy has also helped in increasing sales. This increase reflects the increasing confidence in hybrid technology.

Toyota Innova Hycross

Innova Hycross sold 2,702 units in June 2026, which is 36.3% less than 4,240 units in May. This drop is surprising as the Innova Hycross is touted as the premium hybrid option in the MPV segment. Sales were probably affected due to seasonal effects, stock shortage or competition. Nevertheless, demand for this model remains strong in the long run. Toyota will have to focus on new offers and promotions to improve its sales in the coming months.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

Maruti Grand Vitara recorded sales of 723 units in June 2026, up 21.7% from 594 units in May. This increase is due to the model's reliability, affordable price and good fuel efficiency. Grand Vitara is popular among young buyers and family users. This success of Maruti shows that the company is giving tough competition to Toyota in the hybrid segment.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris

Maruti Victoris made the most impressive performance in June 2026. Its sales stood at 515 units, which is a huge increase of 91.4% from 269 units in May. This figure makes Victoris the star of the hybrid segment. Its demand has suddenly increased due to its attractive features, spacious interior and excellent driving experience.

Maruti Suzuki Invicto

Maruti Invicto sold 349 units in June 2026, which is 15.9% more than 301 units in May. Invicto offers the best combination of ride comfort and hybrid technology in the premium MPV segment. This stable growth shows the strong positioning of the company. Although the sales volume is still less than other models, the trend is positive.

Apart from the top-5 cars of the segment mentioned above, 191 units of Toyota Camry, 152 units of Honda City and only 140 units of Toyota Vellfire were sold last month. In this way, a total of 8,322 units have been sold within the segment, which shows a monthly decline of 8.1 percent as compared to May 2026.
