2027 Toyota Innova Hycross has been spotted testing.

The facelifted version of Toyota Innova Hycross has again been spotted testing. This highly camouflaged prototype may come with a new avatar in 2027. This will be a mid-cycle refresh after the current model launched in late 2022, which is likely to bring major changes in design, interior and features. The front fascia is clearly visible in the recent spy shots, which seems to be inspired by the new generation HiLex.

It is expected to get an SUV-like stance with slim LED headlights, revised grille and upright bumper. The side profile will remain almost the same, while there may be minor changes at the rear. Inside, a larger touchscreen, better digital cluster and advanced ADAS features are coming. There will be no major changes in the powertrain, but flex fuel option is also under discussion. This update will further strengthen the leadership of Innova Hycross in the premium MPV segment. Let's take a look at the possible updates from design to interior.

design details

The biggest design change is likely to be seen at the front. Despite the camouflage, slim lighting units are clearly visible at higher positions, a new grille design (possibly a honeycomb pattern) and a redesigned bumper. The bonnet is more upright, which will strengthen the road presence. The wheel arch cladding and sharp lines on the sides will remain intact, while the alloy wheels may see minor finish changes. There is a possibility of mild updates in the taillights and bumper at the rear, but the boxy shape will remain the same.

Talking about the interior, the spy shots show a larger freestanding central touchscreen (about 12 inches), which will be bigger than the current 10.1-inch unit. The fully digital instrument cluster may also get an upgrade, possibly with a dual screen setup like the new HiLex. Expect an improved 360-degree camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, updated connected car features and better NVH levels. Higher variants may also come with second-row ventilated seats and Dolby Atmos sound system.

Features and safety

There is said to be improvement in the Toyota Safety Sense package. Enhanced ADAS functionality, such as improved lane keep assist and collision avoidance systems, may be included. There is not going to be any major change in engine and performance. The 2.0-litre petrol (about 170 bhp) and 2.0-litre strong hybrid (about 186 bhp) powertrains will continue. Flex fuel or high ethanol blend (up to E85) support may also be available.

Overall, the 2027 Innova Hycross facelift design will come with SUV-like looks, modern interior and better safety-features, while the reliability and efficiency will remain intact. Launch is expected in early 2027.

Toyota Innova Hycross is in highest demand.

Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) has achieved the important milestone of 3 lakh units of hybrid vehicle sales in India. This achievement reflects the growing popularity of self-charging strong hybrid technology. Especially when Indian buyers are looking for a practical option between petrol cars and full electric vehicles. No need for external charging, better mileage and lower running costs have made hybrids mainstream.

Models like the Urban Cruiser Hyrider and Innova Hycross popularized hybrids beyond the premium segment to the family and mid-size segments. This milestone proves the success of Toyota's multi-pathway strategy, which is promoting sustainable mobility. The demand for hybrid is increasing rapidly in the Indian market, because this technology is proving to be most suitable for city traffic and long drives.

Hybrid car sales report

Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently announced that the total sales of its hybrid vehicles have crossed 3 lakh units. Urban Cruiser Hyrider and Innova Hycross have played the biggest role in this and both these models account for about 78% of the total hybrid sales. Premium models like Camry Hybrid and Vellfire have also contributed. This milestone is only for Strong Hybrids (self-charging), which also includes an 8-year hybrid battery warranty. The company said that this achievement shows customer confidence and acceptance of hybrid technology.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrider

This is the company's first mainstream hybrid SUV, which popularized hybrids in the mid-size SUV segment. Since its launch in 2022, this model is known for its excellent mileage and low fuel consumption. Its strong hybrid system runs mostly on electric mode in stop-go traffic of the city, which saves a lot of running cost. The Hyrider not only increased Toyota's hybrid sales but also created a strong position against competing hybrid SUVs like the Maruti Grand Vitara. This model is popular among family users and those who want an SUV but also want better economy.

Toyota Innova Hycross

Innova Hycross completely changed the MPV segment. The Innova name is already synonymous with reliability, but the Hycross takes it to the next level with hybrid technology. It has sold more than 1 lakh units since its launch and is on top in overall hybrid sales. Its 2.0L hybrid system is ideal for long drives and family use, where up to 60% of the time can be run in electric mode. Hycross attracted diesel MPV users because it offers low maintenance, better comfort and superior fuel efficiency. This model has brought hybrid from luxury to mainstream segment.

Toyota Camry Hybrid

The Camry Hybrid has been a part of Toyota's hybrid lineup for a long time. This sedan marks the beginning of hybrid technology in the premium segment. With great looks, luxury features and good mileage, Camry is a favorite for executives and families who want both comfort and economy. Although its sales are not as high as Hyryder and Hycross, it contributes significantly to the total 3 lakh milestone. The Camry showed that hybrid technology could be successful even in luxury cars.

Toyota Vellfire

Vellfire is the company's luxury hybrid MPV, which targets the chauffeur-driven market. With premium interior, advanced features and powerful hybrid powertrain, it is for those who want a combination of luxury and economy. Vellfire has also recently crossed the milestone of sales of 5,000 units. Although its numbers are small, it helps in increasing the acceptance of hybrids in the high-end segment.

Toyota Innova Hycross has crossed the 2 lakh unit sales mark.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM)'s premium MPV Innova Hycross has crossed the milestone of sales of 2 lakh units in just three and a half years of its launch in India. Launched in November 2022, this hybrid MPV has recorded total sales of 2,00,000 units by April 2026. This achievement reflects the increasing popularity and changing trends of hybrid technology.

The Innova Hycross is built on the TNGA-C platform, which makes it strong, comfortable and modern. It has a 5th generation self-charging strong hybrid system with a 2.0 liter petrol engine, which provides a total of 186 PS power and excellent mileage (up to 23 kmpl).

Hybrid variants offer smooth performance with e-drive system. Customers can choose between 7-seater and 8-seater options. Talking about the features, it has large touchscreen infotainment, panoramic sunroof, ADAS safety suite, ventilated seats, automatic doors and premium cabin.

Beats Innova Crysta

The Hycross gained market share faster than the diesel Crysta. In 2023, the HiCross sold 45,916 units, which was ahead of the Crysta. HiCross overtakes Crysta in FY2024 (52,997 vs 45,183). Hycross's share to reach 58-59% in FY2025. HiCross's share in total Innova sales in the first six months of 2025 was 63%, while Crysta's was only 37%. Even in Q1 FY2026, HiCross sold 15,483 units, overtaking Crysta (9,900 units) by more than two-thirds of its sales. The hybrid variant now dominates the total Innova sales.

success story

The main reason for this success is the low running costs of the hybrid. Amid rising petrol-diesel prices and strict emission norms, customers are shifting towards hybrids. The Hycross proved to be quiet, powerful and fuel efficient in both urban and highway driving. Toyota's reliability, low maintenance and resale value have also boosted sales.

What did the company say?

Senior officials of Toyota Kirloskar Motor expressed happiness over this achievement. He said that Hycross has redefined the premium MPV segment. The company is planning to bring more hybrid models in the future. Innova Hycross prices start at ₹19.53 lakh (ex-showroom). It is perfect for family, corporate and tourist use. The diesel Crysta is still liked by some customers for its torque and long range capability, but the hybrid trend is clearly visible.
