Make Kia Carens Clavis EV yours by paying only ₹ 51 thousand, company brings special BaaS plan

Kia India has launched the Battery as a Service (BaaS) finance program for its first made-in-India electric car, the Kia Carens Clavis EV. This initiative has been started with the aim of making EVs more affordable for common customers. Under the BaaS model, different loan options are available for the vehicle chassis and battery, which significantly reduces the upfront cost.

Under this program, ownership of Carens Clavis EV can start with a down payment of just ₹ 51,520. There is a transparent subscription charge of ₹ 3.3 per kilometer for the battery. This dual loan structure gives more flexibility to customers and makes the path to EV adoption easier. Major financiers like ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bajaj Finserv are associated with this program.

How will this scheme work?

In the BaaS program, separate finance accounts are created for the vehicle body (chassis) and battery. With this, customers can manage battery costs separately. The ex-showroom price of the Standard Pack (42 kWh battery) is ₹ 17.99 lakh, while the Extended Range Pack (51.4 kWh) is priced at ₹ 21.99 lakh. The effective price of the chassis under BaaS comes to around ₹12.84 lakh for Standard and ₹15.94 lakh for Extended.

Down payment starts from ₹51,520 for the Standard pack, while ₹60,452 for the Extended. EMI for chassis loan can start from ₹26,650. Battery payment is usage-based at ₹3.3 per km. The tenure of body loan is available up to 60 months and the tenure of battery loan is available up to 96 months. This will reduce the monthly burden and customers can pay as per their driving.

Features and safety

The Carens Clavis EV is a practical 6/7-seater family MPV, designed keeping everyday needs in mind. It has premium features like dual 12.3-inch panoramic display, wireless phone projection, 64-color ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof, wireless charger and retractable seatback table. With ADAS level 2.0 support, it makes driving safe and easy.

It is very strong in terms of safety. The 18 standard safety features include 6 airbags (front, side and curtain), ABS, ESC, Hill Start Assist, TPMS, all wheel disc brakes, ISOFIX, rear occupant alert and impact sensing door unlock. IP67 rated battery pack provides extra protection. With rollover sensor and other advanced systems, it is a reliable option for the family.

Battery, Motor and Range

Carens Clavis EV is available in two battery options. The ARAI-certified range of the first 42 kWh battery (standard) pack is 404 km. Its front-mounted motor produces approximately 135 hp power and 255 Nm torque. The second 51.4 kWh battery (extended range) pack is capable of delivering an ARAI certified range of 490 KM. It can reach the speed of 0-100 kmph in about 8.4 seconds.

The 100 kW DC fast charger allows 10-80% charging in just 39 minutes. Full charge with 11 kW AC charger is completed in 4 to 4.75 hours. One-pedal driving is also enjoyed with 5 levels of regenerative braking and i-Pedal mode. Eco, Normal and Sport drive modes allow customization of the driving experience.
