Best Selling SUVs in April 2026: Tata Motors' dominance in the Indian SUV market continued last month also. Tata Punch achieved the top position with sales of 19,107 units. Maruti Suzuki's Fronx and Tata Nexon also remained in close competition.

However, sales of Hyundai Creta and Mahindra Scorpio have decreased compared to last year. Overall, the compact and mid-size SUV segment showed strong growth, which reflects the change in customer preferences. Let us take a look at the model wise sales report.

Tata Punch

In April 2026, Tata Punch achieved the first position with sales of 19,107 units. This is a spectacular increase of 53% compared to last year in April 2025. It even left Maruti Frontex behind. The popularity of Punch reflects its attractive design, features and value for money. Its ex-showroom price starts from ₹ 5.59 lakh.

It comes with a rugged micro-SUV design, high ground clearance (193 mm) and attractive LED lights. It gets a 5-star BNCAP rating for safety, 6 airbags as standard, ESP and TPMS, along with a premium dual-tone cabin, 10.25-inch touchscreen, 7-inch digital cluster, sunroof, wireless charger, 360° camera, wireless Android Auto/CarPlay, cruise control and auto AC. It can be purchased in 1.2L petrol (88 PS), turbo (120 PS) and CNG options. Mileage ranges from 18-22 kmpl (petrol) and 26 km/kg (CNG).

Maruti Suzuki Fronx

Maruti Suzuki Fronx stood at second place, which sold 18,829 units in April 2026. This is an increase of 31% compared to April 2025. The strong sales of Fronx reflect the demand for Maruti's crossover SUV range.

Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon took the third position with sales of 18,126 units in April 2026. Compared to April last year, a growth of 17% was recorded. Safety features and updated variants have given Nexon a strong position.

Hyundai Creta

In April 2026, 15,291 units of Hyundai Creta were sold and it stood at fourth position. This is a decline of 10% compared to April 2025. Nevertheless, Creta continues to maintain a strong presence in the premium mid-size SUV segment.

Mahindra Scorpio

Mahindra Scorpio has sold 14,719 units in April 2026 and is at fifth position. There was a 5% decline compared to April last year. The Scorpio's off-road capability still attracts loyal customers.

Apart from the top-5 SUVs of April 2026 mentioned above, last month 14,124 units of Maruti Brezza, 13,701 units of Maruti Victoris, 12,420 units of Hyundai Venue, 10,566 units of Kia Seltos and 10,537 units of Kia Sonet were sold.

Tata Punch

Tata Punch is at number one in terms of sales. Last month, this micro SUV got a total of 20,977 new customers. This figure shows an annual increase of 18.42 percent compared to the total 17,714 units sold in March 2025. The ex-showroom price of Punch starts at just ₹ 5,64,990.

Its design looks quite attractive with bold micro-SUV look, muscular styling, LED headlamps and new fresh appearance. Talking about interior and features, it has 10.25 inch infotainment screen, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, 360 degree camera, auto AC, digital cluster, height adjustable seat and premium cabin.

For safety, it has 6 airbags standard, ESP, TPMS, hill hold and ISOFIX. With 5 star Bharat NCAP rating, it has become the safest SUV in the country at a price below ₹ 6 lakh. It can be purchased in 1.2 liter petrol (88 PS), new 1.2L turbo (120 PS/170 Nm) and CNG options. Mileage is around 18-20 kmpl (petrol).

Tata Nexon

Nexon is at number two in the list. A total of 19,810 new units of this SUV were sold last month. This figure represents an annual increase of 21 percent compared to the total 16,399 Tata Nexons sold in March 2025.

Maruti Brezza

Brezza is at number three in terms of sales. In March 2026, it got a total of 16,130 new customers. This figure shows a slight decline of 2.51 percent on an annual basis as compared to 16,546 units sold in March 2025.

Maruti Fronx

In terms of sales, Franks is at number four. Last month it got a total of 15,540 new customers. This figure shows an impressive increase of 13.69 percent on an annual basis as compared to 13,669 units sold in March 2025.

Kia Sonet

On the basis of explosive growth, Sonet has included itself in the top-5 list. Last month 12,012 people bought it. This figure shows an annual increase of 55.90 percent compared to the total 7705 units sold in March 2025.

Apart from the top-5 SUVs of the segment mentioned above, last month there were 11,147 units of Hyundai Venue, 9199 units of Mahindra 59 units have been sold.

Tata's car is also at second place in terms of sales. Punch got a total of 19,257 new customers in January 2026. This figure shows an annual increase of 18.64 percent compared to the total 16,231 units sold in January 2025.

Maruti Brezza

Brezza is at number three in terms of sales. 17,486 units of this Sub 4m SUV were sold in January 2026. This figure shows an annual increase of 18.57 percent compared to the total 14,737 units sold in January 2025.

Maruti Fronx

The cells of the fronds have decreased. A total of 13,353 units were sold last month. This figure shows a decline of 12 percent on an annual basis as compared to the total 15,192 units sold in January 2025.

Hyundai Venue

On the basis of increase in sales, Venue has registered its name in the top-5 list of Sub 4m SUVs. It has got 12,413 new customers last month. This figure shows an annual increase of 11.77 percent compared to the total 11,106 units sold in January 2025.

Apart from the top-5 SUVs of the segment mentioned above, last month there were 10,998 units of Kia Sonet, 8845 units of Mahindra 275 units have been sold.

New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki ended 2025 on a high note, with the company registering its highest ever sales of 1,82,165 units in the domestic market. The carmaker exported a total of 25,739 units, while other OEMs sold 9,950 units. Overall sales of the company reached 2,27,854 units. Apart from this, the company sold the highest ever sales of 23,51,139 units and exported a record 3,95,648 units in the calendar year 2025.

Best selling Maruti cars
Maruti Baleno became India's best selling car, with 22,108 units sold. This was followed by Franks, which sold a total of 20,700 units in December 2025. In the entry-level segment, Alto K10 and S-Presso registered a strong sales growth of 92 percent year-on-year. These two models together contributed 6.2 percent to the company's total monthly sales.

Maruti SUV Sales Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 73,818 SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles) in December 2025, which is an increase of 33 percent year-on-year. Mahindra remained at second place with 50,947 units. Whereas Mahindra makes only SUV cars. Currently, the company has five SUVs in its portfolio – Frankos, Jimny, Brezza, Grand Vitara and Victoris. Maruti Victoris, launched in the second last week of September 2025, is doing good sales for the company. Its 13,496 units were sold in November and more than 14,000 units were sold in December.

Over 35,000 Victories delivered
The Indo-Japanese automaker has delivered more than 35,000 Victories by the end of the year and currently has around 70,000 orders pending. These figures show that this SUV is getting tremendous response from customers. The SUV is sold exclusively through Arena dealerships and is available in six variants, priced between Rs 10.5 lakh and Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

5 star safety
After the safety leader Dezire, Maruti Victoris is the second car from the company to get 5-star safety rating in both India and Global NCAP. It has 6 airbags, 360-degree camera, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts and tire pressure monitoring system as standard safety kit. Victoris is the first car from Maruti Suzuki which has Level-2 ADAS feature.
