Mid-size SUVs continue to dominate the Indian car market. The same was seen in last month's sale also. In May 2026, the top-10 cars of this segment attracted a total of 88,176 new customers. This figure shows an annual increase of 48.4% (average growth) compared to the total 59,390 units sold in May 2025.

If we look at the sales report, Mahindra Scorpio was the best selling SUV in its segment last month. Whereas Hyundai Creta and Maruti Suzuki Victoris have got a lot of customers. Apart from this, MG Windsor was the only car in the top-10 list whose sales have declined. Let's take a look at the model-wise sales report of the segment.

Mahindra Scorpio/N

Mahindra Scorpio and Scorpio N remain at the first position in the list with impressive sales of 15,774 units. It has registered a strong annual (YoY) growth of 9.5% compared to last year. It is clear from this strong performance that the dominance of this vehicle in the Indian SUV market and its craze among the customers is still intact.

Scorpio N is priced between ₹13.49 lakh to ₹24.95 lakh (ex-showroom). This is a bold and muscular body-on-frame SUV, which has modern LED lights. It has the option of 2.0 liter petrol (200 hp) or 2.2 liter diesel (175 hp) engine. Mileage ranges from 12-18 kmpl. Features include panoramic sunroof, 360° camera and premium audio. For safety, 5-star GNCAP rating, 6 airbags and ADAS are available.

Hyundai Creta

Hyundai Creta has secured second position by selling 15,235 units in May 2026. Although its annual growth has increased only marginally by 2.5%, it still remains one of the most reliable and preferred vehicles in its segment. Creta is continuously giving tough competition in the mid-size SUV market.

Maruti Suzuki Victoris

Maruti Suzuki's new Victoris has created a stir as soon as it arrived in the market and has directly captured the third position with sales of 10,853 units. Since this is a completely new model (NEW), it cannot be compared with last year, but the initial figures show its bumper success.

Kia Seltos

Kia Seltos has secured the fourth position with sales of 10,597 units in May 2026. This vehicle registered a very impressive and aggressive growth of 74.2% on annual basis. On the basis of new updates and features, Seltos has seen a tremendous surge in its demand, which is attracting a lot of its customers.

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara managed to make its place in the top-5 with 9,366 units. This car has achieved an explosive annual growth of 80.2%, which is the highest among the top-5 cars. Due to its hybrid options and excellent fuel efficiency, its demand among customers is continuously increasing.

Apart from the top-5 SUVs of the segment mentioned above, last month 9,338 units of Mahindra XUV 7XO, 8,664 units of Toyota Hyrider, 3,502 units of Mahindra

Maruti Suzuki arrives right for the Victoris festive season, inspired by more competitive prices for GST improvement.
