The ex-showroom price of the S-Class in the Indian market ranges from ₹2.20 crore to ₹2.38 crore (S 450e variants), while the price of the BMW 7 Series starts at ₹1.83 crore. Design and Interior

The design of the Mercedes S-Class is timeless and elegant. It remains a status symbol with the new illuminated grille, DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps and sleek profile. The look of BMW 7 Series is more bold and controversial. The road presence is strong with a large kidney grille, sharp LED lights and a long wheelbase. Indian buyers find the S-Class to be more classic, while the 7 Series feels younger and sporty.

Mercedes-Benz has launched its flagship limousine S-Class in India with a plug-in hybrid electric variant (PHEV). Its ex-showroom price starts from ₹ 2.20 crore (Launch Edition) to ₹ 2.38 crore (Manufacturing Edition). This is a long wheelbase version, which has been introduced keeping in mind the preferences of Indian buyers. This launch is part of the 2026 facelift of the S-Class, which includes more than 2,700 new or updated components.

Mercedes has set a new standard of eco-friendly luxury by introducing PHEV technology in a full-flag sedan in India for the first time. The combination of a pure electric range of up to 115 km for urban commutes and a powerful petrol engine for long drives makes it perfect. Bookings have started and deliveries are expected to start around Diwali 2026. This model will compete with competitors like BMW 7 Series. Design and interior

The design of the new S-Class PHEV is evolutionary yet impressive. The front has a 20% larger radiator grille, which has three-pointed star inserts and an optional illuminated frame. The Digital Light LED headlamps feature Micro-LED technology, providing 40% more illumination and a high-beam range of up to 600 metres. Star-themed DRLs give it a unique look. The side profile features new alloy wheel design and manufacturer paint options. At the rear, the slimmer taillamps come with three-pointed star LED motifs and animated lighting. Overall, it strengthens its presence on the road.

The interior is the new benchmark of luxury. The MBUX SuperScreen setup includes a 12.3-inch driver display, 14.4-inch central OLED touchscreen and 12.3-inch passenger display. The latest MB.OS software comes with AI-powered 'Hey Mercedes' virtual assistant, natural dialogue, Google Maps navigation and AR head-up display. The S 450e comes with a 3.0-litre M256 Evo turbo petrol engine (326 hp, 540 Nm) paired with a 120 kW (163 hp) electric motor and a 22 kWh battery. System output is 435 hp and 680 Nm. There is a RWD setup with a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. 0-100 kmph is completed in just 5.7 seconds, while the top speed is 250 kmph (electronically limited). According to WLTP, pure EV range is 115 km and combined fuel efficiency is 32.3 kmpl. With a 60 kW DC fast charger, 10-80% charging takes place in about 20 minutes.
