MG Windsor sold 3,277 units in January 2025 amidst increasing demand for electric cars in India. This car with 38kwh battery and 332 km range has more than 36 safety features.

New Delhi. There has been a flood of electric cars in India. The reason for this is that the demand for cars equipped with electric powertrain has increased rapidly among the customers. Whether it is a desi company or foreign, all companies are bringing new models in this segment. MG recently launched its MG Windsor Electric Car. This car has won the hearts of customers of India.

In January 2025, the fourth consecutive month, it achieved sales of over 3,000 units. JSW MG Motor India in January 2025 had 3,277 units of Windsor. In December 2024, 3,785 units were sold in November 2024, 3,144 units in November 2024 and 3,116 units in October 2024. MG Windsor provides a stable magnetic synchronous motor with 38kwh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, which is rated IP67- Rated. The motor develops maximum power of 136PS and peak torque of 200Nm. Once full charge is the ARAI-certified range is 332 km. The car has four driving modes – Eco+, Eco, Normal and Sport.

Futuristic design
MG Windser looks quite futuristic with its aeroglide design. It includes illuminated front logo, LED lights, flush door handle, 18-inch alloy wheels, aero-lounge seats, front ventilated seats, wireless android auto and Apple carplay with 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climatic control, PM 2.5 filter, There are features such as powered tailgate and panoramic sunroof. The rear seat has a 60:40 split with a 135-degree reclineary angle. After ZS and COMET, the third EV of JSW MG, Windser provides more than 36 standard safety features and ismart connectivity technology with more than 80 connected features. There is also a digital Bluetooth for connectivity in the car.

JSW MG Motor India has named its new upcoming luxury limousine M9 EV. The new limousine will be sold through JSW MG's new luxury brand channel called MG Select. The Majestic Limousine is scheduled to premiere at the India Mobility Global Expo 2025.

Some of the key features of the MG M9 EV are the ottoman seats placed in the second row which get eight massage modes. It also has three-zone climate control which is controlled via a touchscreen panel on the handrail. The same screen can also be used to control the massage mode.

MG M9 EV Specifications

In the global market, MG M9 EV is sold in only two colors – Black Pearl and White Pearl. The on-duty battery pack is a 90 kWh unit that offers a driving range of up to 580 km. This is the range claimed by WLTP. MG offers an 11 kW charger that takes 8.5 hours to charge the battery pack from 5 percent to 100 percent while DC fast charging can charge the battery from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. Having said that, these specifications are for the global market. The on-duty electric motor is capable of producing a maximum power of 241 bhp while the torque output is 350 Nm. The top speed of M9 EV is 180 kmph. There is a possibility that JSW MG Motor India may make some changes to the India-spec model.

MG M9 EV Dimensions

The MG M9 EV measures 5,270 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width and 1,840 mm in height. The wheelbase is 3,200 mm.

The MG M9 EV will be sold through MG Select along with Cyberstar. JSW MG Motor India reported 20 per cent year-on-year growth in sales at 6,019 units in November 2024 compared to November 2023. The company's NEV portfolio contributed 70 percent of total sales. It is important to note that sales figures are wholesale numbers. MG currently has three electric vehicles in its portfolio. There are Comet EV, ZS EV and Windsor EV.

Currently, the largest EV player in the Indian market is Tata Motors which has the largest lineup of electric vehicles. The brand sold 5,202 units of electric vehicles in November 2024, which is a 9 percent increase from 4,761 units sold by the manufacturer in November 2023. Tata Motors currently sells Tiago EV, Tigor EV, Punch EV, Nexon EV and Curve EV. The manufacturer is currently working on three more electric vehicles – Safari EV, Harrier EV and Sierra EV.

Interestingly, MG despite having a smaller portfolio than Tata Motors managed to report wholesale sales numbers which are higher than Tata Motors.

These players have been given a new electric vehicle, MG Windsor, as a gift by the company. In the Olympics 2024, Indian athletes won medals by performing brilliantly in various sports like javelin throw, pistol and rifle shooting, wrestling and hockey. New Delhi. The month of October 2024 proved to be very special for the Indian automobile sector. Major automobile manufacturers recorded record breaking sales figures this month due to festivals. Let us know which company recorded how much sales and who was ahead of whom.

Maruti Suzuki India recorded its highest ever monthly sales in October 2024. The company sold a total of 2,06,434 units, which included 1,63,130 units in the domestic market, 10,136 units to other OEMs, and 33,168 units in exports.

How were the sales of Hyundai, Mahindra and Tata Motors?
Hyundai Motor India sold a total of 70,078 units in October, which is its third best performance. This includes 55,568 units in the domestic market and 14,510 units exported, which is 2 percent more than October last year. Specifically, the company's exports recorded an increase of 6.7 percent.

Mahindra & Mahindra also recorded its highest ever sales in the SUV segment in October 2024. The company sold 54,504 units in the domestic market, which shows a growth of 25 percent year on year. Mahindra's total vehicle sales reached 96,648 units, which also includes exports. The company achieved growth of 20 percent on an annual basis.

Unlike other companies, Tata Motors faced a mild decline in October. The company's sales in the domestic passenger vehicle segment stood at 48,131 units, which is 0.42 percent less as compared to the same month last year.

Kia and Toyota also registered growth
Kia India sold 28,545 units in October 2024, which is 30 percent more than last year. The recently launched Carnival Limousine Plus model caught the attention of customers, and 54 customers purchased it on the occasion of Diwali. There was also good demand for Kia's exports and 2,042 units were sent abroad.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold total sales of 30,845 units in October, which is 41 percent more than last year. 28,138 units were sold in the domestic market and 2,707 units were exported. Encouraging growth was seen in the sales of all the models of the company.

MG Motor India's contribution to NEV segment
JSW MG Motor India sold 7,045 units in October 2024, of which New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) contributed more than 70 percent. The recently launched electric crossover Windsor performed brilliantly and sold 3,116 units in the first month.

23% decline in Honda Cars India sales
On the other hand, Honda Cars India faced a decline in sales this month. The company's total sales were 10,080 units, which is 23 percent less as compared to October last year. 5,546 units were sold in the domestic market, which is a decline of 41 percent. However, exports improved and 4,534 units were exported, which is 23.1 percent more than October last year.

The exterior appearance and styling of the Windsor EV is quite simple. The flush-type door handles and 18-inch alloy wheels are the only eye-catching elements on the exterior.

The MG Windsor is the latest electric vehicle (EV) in town and is making some pretty big promises to find a place in your garage. It may not be MG's first electric car in India, but it tries to strike a balance between the small but practical Comet EV and the premium but expensive ZS EV. The Windsor EV is unlike any other EV currently in the Indian market and that's because of its crossover profile. With a 'battery-as-a-subscription' program, is this the battery-powered car you've been waiting for?

The Windsor EV is essentially a re-badged version of the Wuling Cloud EV that is sold in several global markets. Not much has changed in the Windsor compared to the Cloud EV apart from the Wuling badge and logo. And that could be a good thing. While the design will take a lot of time to get used to, the features on the inside are this EV's biggest claim to fame.

How big is the MG Windsor EV?

The Windsor EV is deceptive in its dimensions. Its crossover body style helps it flaunt an aerodynamic profile which is extremely important for an increased range. But the MG model doesn't look big at all when viewed with the naked eye. In fact, while its 2,700 mm wheelbase is longer than the ZS EV and even the Tata Nexon, it doesn't have the road presence that many would want.

With the market for SUVs booming, the Windsor EV may be a step up in terms of its design, featuring LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels and a glass antenna. But opinions on the design are still quite divided.

How is the cabin of the MG Windsor EV?

If opinions will differ about the exterior design and styling, the cabin of the Windsor EV will please everyone. The interiors of the MG EV are premium and very comfortable, with ample cushioning on all seats. While the rear seats recline up to 130 degrees, both the front seats recline back up to almost 180 degrees for a flat-bed experience.

Flat-folding front seats mean you can take a nap while the Windsor EV is parked or charging. Just don’t try this with an EV on the go as it doesn’t have ADAS!

The front seats also have a cooling function and the Windsor EV has a large – and fixed – glass panel on the roof.

But the biggest feature of the Windsor EV is its 15.6-inch main infotainment screen, which has a bright, clear and crisp display quality. Even the feed coming from the 360-degree camera is impressive, providing a clear view of everything around the vehicle. An Infinity sound system is also connected to this screen.

On the other hand, the Windsor EV is definitely not for those who might get overwhelmed by too much technology. Although the car has physical buttons to control the air-conditioning, almost everything related to entertainment or even the car's functions is on the screen. There is a big learning curve to master everything that is in this entertainment unit.

What is the battery size and range of the MG Windsor EV?

The MG Windsor EV has a 38 kWh battery pack and has a claimed range of 330 km. In the real world, expect a range of around 300 km and this is good enough for daily drives within the city and occasional highway trips.

The drive quality itself is about par for the course as despite the Windsor EV's build it isn't as exhilarating as most EVs tend to be. There are four drive modes to choose from and for the most part, driving in the Windsor is more discreet than driving it.

Should you buy the MG Windsor EV?

The Windsor EV is priced at It is priced at Rs 13.50 Lakh and out of the three variants, the top variant is priced at Rs 13.50 Lakh. 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom) At these prices, it might make a lot of sense to invest. But then there is also the BaaS program which means the base Windsor EV can be bought for Rs 15.50 lakh. 10 lakh rupees and then pay Under the battery-subscription plan, a charge of Rs 3.50 per kilometre will be levied.

MG is also offering a buyback program on the Windsor EV after three years, with a lifetime warranty on the battery for the first owner of the Windsor EV unit. Thus, if you have always wanted to drive an electric car but don't have the budget for the ZS EV, the Windsor EV is a great option to own. However, it may still not be ideal, as this is the only car in the house and there are other options for those looking for a more radical body style and a more spirited driving experience.

The company recently launched a new variant of the ZS EV. The new variant now comes armed with level-2 autonomous driving system which offers as many as 17 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The British-origin carmaker has launched the ZS EV with ADAS at a price of ₹27.89 lakh, which makes it the most expensive among all the variants of the electric SUV. MG ZS EV rivals the likes of Hyundai Kona and BYD Atto 3 among other electric SUVs in India.

MG Motor has said that the ADAS technology introduced in the ZS EV comes with three levels of sensitivity and warning. Among the features it offers are Traffic Jam Assist which helps in hassle-free driving during congestion, Forward Collision Warning to alert driver of potential crash and applying autonomous brakes to come to a halt, Speed Assist System to prevent over speeding, lane keep assist , adaptive cruise control and more.

In a separate development, MG recently increased the price of the Hector and Gloster, two of its flagship SUVs, from this month. This is the second price increase on the two SUVs within three months. In the latest price hike, the SUVs have become costlier by up to ₹78,000 depending on the model and variant one chooses. The hike is higher than the one MG Motor implemented back in May this year.
