Toyota has launched its new premium electric SUV Urban Cruiser Ebella in the Indian EV market. Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella has been launched with an expensive price.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched its first mainstream electric SUV Urban Cruiser Ebella in India. Its ex-showroom price has been kept at ₹ 23.60 lakh (single top-spec E3 variant). Ebella is a rebadged version of the already existing Maruti eVitara, which comes with a 61 kWh battery.

It is quite expensive compared to other electric SUVs in the segment (like Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV etc.) and especially Maruti e-Vitara. Despite the eVitara being almost ₹ 3.5 lakh more expensive than the top variant, Toyota is offering it with premium positioning, better features and brand value. Design and interior

Toyota Ebella is based on the new Urban Tech design philosophy. It has a bold SUV stance, hammerhead inspired front, full-LED lighting, aerodynamic body, dual-tone color option and 18-inch alloy wheels. Its look is futuristic and premium, which is suitable for both city and highway.

The cabin is spacious and dual-tone. Premium finish, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting with 12 color options, panoramic sunroof, JBL premium sound system and sliding and reclining rear seats add to the comfort. There is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.

Features and safety

Its feature list includes panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, JBL audio, multi-color ambient lighting, wireless charging and connected technologies (remote charging control through Toyota i-Connect app, battery monitoring etc.). For safety, it gets Level 2 ADAS, 7 airbags, 360° camera, electronic stability control and high-tensile steel body.

Both Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5 are premium electric SUVs, which are becoming quite popular in the Indian car market. Ex-showroom price of Tesla Model Y starts at ₹59.89 lakh (RWD variant), while goes up to ₹67.89 lakh for the top variant. The starting price of Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift is ₹55.70 lakh (ex-showroom), which is slightly cheaper than the Model Y.

The Model Y is available in RWD, Long Range and LWB AWD (6-seater option), while the Ioniq 5 mainly comes in a fully loaded single variant. Both EVs offer stylish design, advanced technology and strong performance. While Tesla is ahead in performance and software, Ioniq 5 is a strong competitor in value for money and range. Design and interior

Tesla Model Y has larger battery packs ranging from 60 kWh, capable of providing a range of 500 km to 681 km. Tesla's dual-motor AWD variant offers better acceleration, while the Ioniq 5 supports ultra-fast 800V charging. Both perform brilliantly in the real world.

Our advice: If you want technology, performance and brand then Tesla Model Y is a better option. Hyundai Ioniq 5 can be a good option for value, range and unique design. Your choice depends on budget, driving needs and preferences. Before buying either of them, definitely take a test drive.
