Kia India's premium MPV Carens has achieved a big milestone. The Carnes, launched in February 2022, along with the Carnes Clavis and Clavis EV launched in 2025, has achieved a total sales record of 3 lakh units by May 2026. Apart from this, more than 32,000 units have also been exported.
The Car has now become the third best selling model in Kia India's portfolio after Seltos (6.46 lakh+) and Sonet (5.47 lakh+). In FY26, it was the third best selling MPV after Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Innova, while in the first two months of FY27 (April-May 2026) alone, 11,500+ units were sold. More than 60% buyers are choosing the petrol variant, which shows its popularity as a family car. Let's take a look at its design, powertrain and performance details.
Design
The design of Kia Carens is modern and bold. It looks attractive with the 'tiger nose' grille, sharp LED headlamps and dynamic lines. Despite being a 7-seater MPV, its silhouette is like an SUV, which gives it a premium look. The Carens Clavis variant has been given some styling updates and more attractive graphics.
interior
The cabin is spacious and luxurious. High quality materials, soft-touch dashboard and good fit-finish are available. With three-row seating, the third row is also practical, especially for family use. Panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and ventilated seats add to the comfort.
Features
Karens offers loaded features. Large touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, Bose sound system, dual zone AC, wireless charger, 360° camera and multiple USB ports. The Clavis variants also include some additional connected car technology.
Safety
There is no compromise in security. It has 6 airbags (in top variants), ABS with EBD, ESC, hill assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors and 360° camera. The strong body structure along with good ratings in Global NCAP makes it reliable for the family.
Engine and Mileage
It has several powertrain options – 1.5 liter petrol (115 PS), 1.5 liter diesel (115 PS) and turbo petrol. Transmissions include 6-speed manual, iMT, automatic and DCT. The mileage of petrol variants is around 15-16 kmpl (ARAI), while diesel can go up to 18-21 kmpl. An EV variant is also available, which offers zero-emission option. The company sells it at a starting ex-showroom price of ₹ 11.02 lakh.
