Renault India has launched its popular sub-compact SUV Kiger with an updated version. More than 35 design and feature upgrades have been given in the new Kiger, which make it more aggressive in the segment. The special thing is that now the turbo petrol manual transmission (MT) variant is starting at ₹ 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom), making it one of the most affordable turbo-powered SUV options.

This update is based on Renault's 'Rethink Performance' philosophy, in which style, performance, fuel efficiency and safety have been balanced. The length of the sub-4 meter SUV remains 3991 mm, wheelbase is 2500 mm and ground clearance is 205 mm, which performs well in both city and highway. The new model comes with attractive colors, new Renault logo and sporty elements. The variants available include Authentic, Evolution, Techno and Emotion. Features like 360° camera, ventilated seats and premium audio are available in the top variants.

Design and interior

The exterior of the new Kiger is quite bold and refreshed. New front and rear bumpers, additional fog lights in the split headlamps, new Renault logo, new graphics on the C-pillar and 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels give it a premium look. Special turbo badges and red brake callipers are available on turbo variants. The black cladding and LED light package add to the sporty appeal. The new Kiger is feature-packed. There are two engine options available in it. The first is a 1.0-litre NA petrol (72 PS / 96 Nm), which comes with a 5-speed MT or AMT. Second, there is 1.0-litre turbo petrol (100 PS / 160 Nm MT, 152 Nm CVT). The turbo engine gives spirited performance, especially in highway overtaking. The mileage claimed in Turbo MT is around 20.38 kmpl. Ride quality and handling are balanced, making it a family SUV worth enjoying.
