Tata Motors recently introduced a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) option in the CNG variant of the premium hatchback Altroz. It is India's first and only premium hatchback to offer an automatic transmission with a CNG powertrain. Starting ex-showroom prices for the Pure variant start at ₹8.69 lakh, while the top Accomplished S variant goes up to ₹10.77 lakh.
The AMT option is ₹ 50 thousand to ₹ 60 thousand costlier than the manual. The variants available include Pure, Pure S, Creative, Creative S and Accomplished S. This launch is attractive for buyers who want convenient driving considering the increasing use of CNG infrastructure in cities. Design and Interior
The design of Tata Altroz CNG AMT is attractive and modern. It has a sporty front grille, sharp LED headlamps, sculpted body lines and roofline. 16-inch alloy wheels give it a premium look. With facelift updates, it remains a stylish option in the segment. The cabin has a premium feel.
Soft-touch dashboard, good quality materials, spacious seats and good leg room are available. Features like 7-inch or 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver display, ambient lighting and wireless charging enhance comfort. Due to the twin-cylinder setup, the boot space remains at 210 litres, which is much better for a CNG car.

It is equipped with 1.2-litre 3-cylinder iCNG engine. 73.5 PS power and 103 Nm torque is available in CNG mode, while 88 PS/115 Nm is available in petrol mode. Easy driving in the city is available with 5-speed AMT. Its ARAI claimed mileage is around 26-28 km/kg. Twin-cylinder technology is better in terms of both performance and space.
