A big upheaval has been seen in India's SUV market in May 2026. Maruti Fronx has achieved the number-1 position, leaving behind popular SUVs like Tata Punch and Tata Nexon. Whereas Kia Seltos recorded the highest growth of 74%, while the sales of Maruti Brezza have declined. Which SUV was the biggest hit and who got the shock? Know the complete sales report of Top-10.

Maruti Fronx: In the sales report of May 2026, Maruti Fronx has secured the first position with excellent sales of 20,686 units. Last year i.e. in May 2025, about 13,609 units were sold. In this way, Franks has registered an excellent growth of 52% on annual basis. On the basis of its coupe design and great features, this car has emerged as the first choice of the customers.

Maruti FrontX Hybrid

The ex-showroom price of Maruti Franks ranges from ₹ 6.85 lakh to ₹ 11.98 lakh. It is available in 1.2 liter petrol (88 PS) and 1.0 liter turbo (100 PS) engines, in which the mileage is available from 21 to 22.89 kmpl (petrol) and 28.51 km/kg (CNG). Features include 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay and 6 airbags with 360° camera.

Top 10 CNG Cars in India

Tata Punch: Tata Punch stood at second position by selling 20,208 units this month. Last year in May 2025, it had sold 13,122 units, compared to which this year it has seen an explosive annual growth (YoY) of 54%. This big jump in the sales of Punch has happened due to the huge demand for its petrol, CNG and electric (EV) models in the micro-SUV segment.

Tata Nexon: Tata Motors' popular sub-compact SUV Nexon is firmly at the third position with sales of 19,100 units. About 13,082 units of Nexon were sold in the month of May last year. This time Nexon has achieved a strong growth of 46% on annual basis. Due to its excellent safety rating and modern cabin, it continues to be a craze among the customers.

Mahindra Scorpio: Scorpio continued its strong performance in May 2026 and recorded sales of 15,774 units. Last year in May 2025, 14,340 units were sold, due to which an annual growth of 10% has been registered in its sales this year. Due to its strong resale value and rough-and-tough image, Scorpio is still a favorite vehicle of large SUV lovers.

Hyundai Creta: Mid-size SUV king Hyundai Creta has secured the fifth position with sales of 15,253 units this month. Last year in May 2025, 14,809 units of Creta were sold, compared to which this time a slight annual growth of 3% has been recorded in its sales. Even after the entry of new competitors in this segment, Creta has maintained its dominance and volume in the market.

Maruti Brezza

Maruti Brezza: The month of May 2026 was a bit slow for Maruti Suzuki's Brezza and it stood at sixth position with sales of 13,245 units. Last year in May 2025, 15,401 units were sold. This time a decline of 14% has been recorded in the sales of Brezza on an annual basis (-14% YoY). Its sales have been slightly affected due to tough competition from new competitors.

Hyundai Venue

Hyundai Venue: Hyundai's sub-compact SUV Venue has performed amazingly in May 2026, achieving sales of 11,714 units. Last year in May 2025, only 7,509 units of Venue could be sold. In this respect, Venue has registered an excellent growth of 56% on annual basis. It has made a strong comeback in the market on the basis of its affordable price and hi-tech features.

Maruti Victoris: In this month's sales list, 'Victoris' SUV has made a new entry at the eighth position with sales of 10,853 units. Since this is a completely new model in the Indian automobile market, there is no comparative data available for the previous year (May 2025). Despite being a new launch, making it to the top-10 in the very first month shows its huge success.

Mahindra Thar On-Road Price & EMI Details

Mahindra Thar: Mahindra Thar's off-road popularity continues to remain intact in the Indian market. In May 2026, Thar achieved ninth position with sales of 10,787 units. Last year in May 2025, 10,372 units were sold. Thus, Thar has registered a positive growth of 4% on annual basis. Its 3-door and new 5-door lifestyle avatars continue to receive good response from customers.

Kia Seltos

Kia Seltos: Kia Seltos secured the last position in the top-10 list by selling 10,597 units in May 2026. Last year in May 2025, only 6,090 units of Seltos were sold. This year, Seltos has registered the highest YoY growth of 74% on annual basis. This time the customers have embraced the new updated version and premium features of the car.

Tata Motors is performing well in the Indian car market. This trend continued last month also. The company has sold 59,000 units in April 2026. This figure represents an annual increase of 31 percent compared to the total 45,199 units sold in April 2025.

If we look at the sales report, Tata Punch was the best selling car of the company last month. At the same time, there has been a huge increase in the sales of Tata Nexon and Tata Sierra. Apart from this, Tata Tiago was the only car of the company, which is included in the top-5 but its sales have decreased. Let us take a look at the company's model wise sales report.

Tata Punch

Tata Punch is at number one in terms of sales. A total of 19,107 units of this micro SUV have been sold in the last months. This figure shows an annual increase of 53 percent compared to the total 12,496 units sold in April 2025.

Ex-showroom price of Tata Punch starts from ₹5.65 lakh and goes up to ₹10.60 lakh. This micro-SUV comes with a strong, bold design, high ground clearance (193 mm) and SUV styling. The interior is premium. It can be bought with dual-tone theme, 10.25 inch touchscreen, digital cluster, sunroof and good space.

Features include 360° camera, wireless charging, iRA connected tech. For safety, it has been given features like 5-star GNCAP/BNCAP rating, 6 airbags as standard, ESP and TPMS. Talking about the engine, it can be purchased with 1.2L petrol (88 PS), turbo petrol (120 PS) and CNG options. Mileage is around 18-20 kmpl in petrol and 26+ km/kg in CNG.

Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon is at second place in the list. Last month it got a total of 18,126 new customers. This figure shows an impressive growth of 17 percent on an annual basis as compared to the total 15,457 units sold in April 2025.

Tata Sierra

Sierra's name is at number three. Not even a year has passed since this SUV arrived in the Indian market. If seen from this perspective, Sierra is getting a good number of customers. A total of 7,316 units were sold last month.

Tata Tiago

Tiago's name is at number four in terms of sales. A total of 5,488 units were sold last month. This figure shows a decline of 34 percent on an annual basis as compared to 8,277 units in April 2025.

Tata Altroz

Altroz's name is included in the top-5 list. Last month it got a total of 2,586 new customers. This figure represents an annual increase of 19 percent compared to the total 2,172 units sold in April 2025.

Apart from the top-5 cars of the company mentioned above, last month only 2,545 units of Harrier, 1,467 units of Safari, 1,403 units of Curvv and only 962 units of Tigor which was last could be sold.
