Tata Sierra is better diesel or petrol? Know

If you are thinking of buying Tata Sierra, then the decision of diesel or petrol will depend on your annual running, driving style and budget. This mid-size SUV competes with vehicles like Creta and Seltos in the Indian market. Bold retro-modern design, loaded features, 5-star safety and three engine options (1.5 liter NA petrol, 1.5 liter turbo petrol and 1.5 liter diesel) make it special.

The petrol version is smooth, low noise and easy to maintain, while the diesel gives better mileage and torque. Petrol may be convenient for those who drive less in the city, diesel may be a wise decision for those who drive more on long distances and on the highway. Features and safety are almost similar in both. Let us know which of the two would be better to choose?

Which is better between diesel and petrol?

If we analyze the mileage, according to ARAI the diesel manual is capable of giving a mileage of up to 19-21 kmpl, while the petrol is capable of giving a mileage of up to 15-17 kmpl. In real world, diesel gives 14-17 kmpl in city and 18-21 kmpl on highway. Petrol is capable of giving efficiency of 11-14 kmpl in city and 15-17 kmpl in highway.

On running 12 thousand to 15 thousand KM annually, the per km cost of diesel is less (₹ 5-6/km vs ₹ 7-9/km) and savings can be up to Rs 1-1.5 lakh. Petrol is better on short running because its maintenance is cheaper and the vehicle can run for 15 years, whereas the limit of diesel engine car is only 10 years.

Diesel for what?

  • For heavy highway/long driving
  • Running 12,000+ KM annually
  • Need for better torque and load
  • For those looking for low running costs

Petrol for what?

  • Running low in most cities
  • For smooth, quiet and responsive driving
  • Low maintenance and easy servicing
  • Turbo petrol for performance lovers

Design and interior

The retro-modern look of Tata Sierra is a head-turner with the bold grille, strong wheel arches and LED lights. Its design gives more road presence and premium feel than Creta. The interior has a triple screen setup, premium materials, panoramic sunroof, JBL sound system and good spacing. Its cabin is quiet and family-friendly with comfortable seats.

Features and safety

It can be purchased with Level-2 ADAS, 360° camera, ventilated seats, wireless charging, powered tailgate. With a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, the Sierra gets 6-7 airbags, ESP, strong body and ADAS. From design to features, both the engine options are almost similar. The bottom line is that choose diesel for high running, petrol can be a better option for low running and city use.

People with how much salary should buy Tata Sierra diesel, know the calculation of down payment and EMI

Tata Sierra has a huge craze in the market. The company has launched it at a starting ex-showroom price of only ₹ 11,49,000. However, if you buy Sierra with diesel engine, then you will have to pay an ex-showroom price of ₹ 12,99,000 in the capital Delhi.

If you are planning to buy the new Tata Sierra with the desire for better pickup, good performance and more mileage, then you have reached the right address. In this article, we have brought details related to on-road price and EMI of Tata Sierra Diesel. We will also take a look at its features, safety and performance details.

Tata Sierra Diesel On Road Price

As told to you, the ex-showroom price of Sierra Diesel starts from Rs 12.99 lakh. If you want to buy it in the capital Delhi, then you will have to pay RTO fee of Rs 1,62,375 on its base variant. Apart from this, you may have to pay insurance amount of Rs 60,561 and other charges of Rs 12,990. In this way the on road price of Tata Sierra Diesel becomes Rs 15,60,926.

Tata Sierra Diesel Down Payment & EMI Details

If you give a down payment of Rs 2 lakh while buying a new Tata Sierra Diesel, then you will have to apply for a car loan on the remaining Rs 13,60,926. If your monthly income is good and your credit score is in good condition, then you will easily get this loan at an interest rate of 10 percent.

Let us assume that you will get this loan for 5 years. In this way, at 10 percent interest rate, you can repay your car loan by paying a total of 60 EMIs of Rs 28,916. In this way you will pay total installment of Rs 17,34,939. If the down payment of Rs 2 lakh is included, its price will be Rs 19,34,939 (after interest and EMI).

Our suggestion: The on road price and EMI details of Tata Sierra EV mentioned here are just an example. This figure can change depending on the city, dealership, vehicle model, insurance company and interest rate. If you earn up to Rs 1 lakh per month and do not already have any big loan, then buy the new Sierra on installment (EMI) only.
