Toyota Ebella or Hyundai Creta Electric? Before buying, know which one has more benefits

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella and Hyundai Creta Electric are two strong mid-size electric SUVs, which are competing in the Indian market with premium feel, good range and modern features. Ebella is the company's first mass market EV, which is based on the Maruti eVitara. At the same time, Creta Electric is the electric version of the already popular Creta, which is known for its style, features and value for money.

The top E3 variant of the Ebella has been launched at ₹23.60 lakh (ex-showroom), while the lower variants are not available yet. Creta Electric starts at ₹18.02 lakh and the top variant goes up to ₹24.70 lakh. Both vehicles are attractive options for families and tech-savvy buyers, but the Ebella has the lead in range and Toyota's service network, while the Creta offers better power and a lower entry price. Let us try to understand the difference between the two.

Design and interior

The design of the Ebella is bold and modern, with sleek LED lights, clean lines and an SUV stance. The Creta Electric sports a more familiar Creta look with a sporty grille, sharp creases and a dynamic profile. The Creta looks a little longer, while the Ebella feels compact and premium.

Both have premium cabins. Ebella gets dual screens (10.25-inch digital cluster + 10.1-inch infotainment), ventilated seats, panoramic roof and JBL sound system. The Creta Electric also offers a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats and a good quality cabin. The rear seats of Ebella are more versatile (sliding and reclining), which is better for family use.

Features and safety

Creta Electric has strong V2L, wireless charging and advanced connectivity. Ebella can be purchased with Level-2 ADAS, 360° camera and smart app-based charging features. Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto is available in both.

Talking about safety, Ebella has 7 airbags and strong Toyota safety standards. Creta also offers 6-7 airbags, ADAS and good structural safety. Ebella may benefit from Toyota's long reliability.

Battery, Motor and Range

Ebella comes with two battery options (49 kWh and 61 kWh). The 61 kWh variant offers 172 bhp power, 193 Nm torque and a claimed range of 543 KM. Creta Electric has 42 kWh (420 km) and 51.4 kWh (510 km) batteries, which provide 169-171 bhp power and 255 Nm torque. Ebella leads the range, while Creta feels powerful. Both support DC fast charging.

Overall, if you want long range and Toyota reliability, go for Ebella. For style, performance and a better starting price, the Creta Electric is a more sensible option.

The current Fortuner has been ruling the Indian market for almost a decade, but now the new generation will be based on the Hilux platform, which will be more modern and advanced. Global debut may happen in mid-2026, after that it is certain to come to India.

Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: Toyota's new electric SUV creates a stir, is based on Maruti Grand E Vitara

New Delhi. Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has unveiled its new electric SUV Urban Cruiser EV. This is the first time that official pictures of this electric car have been revealed. The company had presented a glimpse of this model based on Maruti Suzuki's eVX concept SUV about a year ago.

Now its production ready version is ready for launch. A glimpse of the concept model is clearly visible in its design and features. The special thing is that it is very similar to Maruti's upcoming E Vitara electric SUV.

launch timeline
Toyota is currently focusing the Urban Cruiser EV for the European market. If reports are to be believed, it can be showcased in India at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 in January next year. Its sale in the European market is likely to start by June-July next year. The company has not yet given any confirmation regarding its launch in India, but it is believed that after the launch of Maruti Suzuki E Vitara Electric, Toyota can also launch this SUV in the Indian market.

Design and look
This SUV is basically based on Maruti Suzuki E Vitara. Despite this, many new changes have been made in it. The Urban Cruiser EV has modern LED daytime running lights, new headlamps and a redesigned rear profile. It has been given a premium look with Toyota badging.

Talking about the side profile, it has black plastic cladding and 18 or 19 inch aero-optimized wheels, which give it a sporty touch. The design of the rear door handle in the C-pillar is inspired by the Maruti Suzuki E Vitara.

Size and dimensions
The production model of the Urban Cruiser EV is slightly smaller than the concept model. Its length is 4,285 mm, width is 1,800 mm and height is 1,640 mm. Compared to the concept model, its length and width are 15 mm and 20 mm less respectively, while the height has increased by 20 mm. Its wheelbase is 2,700 mm, making it slightly larger than the Suzuki E Vitara.

Cabin and interior
The interior of the Urban Cruiser EV is equipped with excellent design and modern features. It includes a “squircle” steering wheel, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

Apart from this, the cabin has premium features like drive mode, single-zone auto climate control, wireless phone charging, powered driver seat adjustment, JBL sound system and sunroof. The rear seats have the option of sliding, reclining and 40:20:40 split-folding, ensuring more comfort for the passengers.

powertrain options
Toyota has introduced this electric SUV with two battery options. It has Lithium-Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery packs with 49kWh and 61kWh capacity. The smaller battery variant generates 144hp power and 189Nm torque, while the larger battery variant generates 174hp power and the same torque.

Safety Features
Advanced safety features have been taken care of in the Urban Cruiser EV. It has a 360-degree camera and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes pre-collision system, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and lane-departure alert. It is expected that it will also be provided with 6 airbags as standard safety.

Expected launch in Indian market
However, the company has not given any information regarding the launch date of Urban Cruiser EV for the Indian market. But it is believed that it can be introduced in the Indian market by the end of 2025. Keeping in mind the needs of Indian customers, some changes can also be made in it. This SUV of Toyota can play an important role in meeting the increasing demand for electric vehicles not only in the global market but also in India.
