Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series have always been top competitors in the Indian luxury sedan segment. Mercedes is planning to launch the S-Class facelift with a PHEV powertrain in 2026, while the BMW 7 Series is already present with a bold design and driver-focused performance. The S-Class focuses on rear seat comfort, quiet and traditional luxury. Whereas BMW 7 Series attracts with modern tech, sporty handling and innovative features.

The ex-showroom price of the S-Class in the Indian market ranges from ₹2.20 crore to ₹2.38 crore (S 450e variants), while the price of the BMW 7 Series starts at ₹1.83 crore. Hybrid/electrified options are available in both. If you are planning to buy one of these two luxury cars, then know which one can be a wiser decision to buy.

Design and Interior

The design of the Mercedes S-Class is timeless and elegant. It remains a status symbol with the new illuminated grille, DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps and sleek profile. The look of BMW 7 Series is more bold and controversial. The road presence is strong with a large kidney grille, sharp LED lights and a long wheelbase. Indian buyers find the S-Class to be more classic, while the 7 Series feels younger and sporty.

The cabin of the S-Class is extremely refined. There is high-quality leather, wood/metal inserts, multi-motor seats and a great entertainment system for the rear passengers. The new MBUX Superscreen and AI 'Hey Mercedes' assistant are amazing. Engine and Performance

Mercedes S 450e (PHEV) has 3.0L Turbo I6 + electric motor. Together it produces 435 hp power and 680 Nm torque and is mated to a 9-speed AT. It reaches the speed of 0-100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds. Its EV range is 115 KM.

The first 3.0 liter I6 petrol engine is available in BMW 7 Series, which is capable of producing power of 380 hp. At the same time, another option is 3.0L diesel engine, which produces 300 hp. It also takes only 5-6 seconds for 0-100 km/h. The BMW's handling is sportier and more dynamic, while the S-Class is better in highway and city comfort.
