BMW has introduced the updated 7 Series in India, with the luxury sedan available in a single 740 M Sport variant priced at Rs. 1.95 crores (ex-showroom). Alongside it, the company has also brought the facelifted i7 electric limousine in two variants, with prices ranging from Rs. 1.95 crores to Rs. 2.65 crores (ex-showroom).

The facelift brings a number of styling changes to BMW’s flagship sedan. At the front, the 7 Series gets a revised fascia featuring an illuminated kidney grille and a split-headlamp arrangement. The rear design has also been updated with slimmer LED tail-lights and redesigned bumpers.

The cabin continues to focus heavily on rear-seat comfort and onboard technology. Key changes include a redesigned steering wheel and a panoramic display layout, along with a 17.9-inch central infotainment screen and a 14.6-inch display for the front passenger. Rear passengers get BMW’s 31.3-inch Theatre Screen, which now supports 8K streaming.

Other equipment includes a Bowers & Wilkins audio system with Dolby Atmos, a panoramic glass roof and four-zone automatic climate control. The seats offer power adjustment, heating, ventilation and massage functions. The car also features Level 2 driver assistance systems, rear-wheel steering and adaptive suspension.

The India-spec 740 M Sport is powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The powertrain develops 395 BHP and 540 Nm and sends power through an 8-speed automatic gearbox. BMW claims a 0-100 km/hr acceleration time of 5.4 seconds, while top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/hr.

The i7 50 xDrive M Sport, meanwhile, uses a 112.4 kWh battery pack and a dual-motor electric drivetrain. It produces 455 BHP and 660 Nm, enabling a claimed 0-100 km/hr time of 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 210 km/hr. Its claimed WLTP range stands at 728 km.

At the top of the electric range is the i7 M70 xDrive, which also uses a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. It develops 680 BHP and up to 1100 Nm with its boost function. BMW claims it can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 3.8 seconds and reach 250 km/hr. The same 112.4 kWh battery provides a claimed WLTP range of 686 km.

With the facelift, BMW is offering Indian buyers a choice between a mild-hybrid petrol powertrain and two electric versions of its flagship limousine. While the 740 M Sport focuses on conventional performance with electrification assistance, the i7 variants offer different balances between range and outright performance.
