Toyota Urban Cruiser EV It is going to enter the Indian auto market tomorrow i.e. on 20th January. This is a rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, but will come with Toyota's special design elements. The estimated price of this electric SUV can be kept between Rs 18 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom). In the Indian market, it is going to compete with electric cars like Hyundai Creta EV, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6 and Tata Curvv EV.
Its overall look is that of an SUV. Urban Cruiser EV length is 4285 mm, width is 1800 mm, height is 1635 mm and wheelbase is 2700 mm. Available in colors White, Red and Black. It is built on a dedicated BEV platform, which provides high rigidity and low center of gravity. The interesting thing is that the company is launching it even before Maruti Suzuki e Vitara. Toyota Urban Cruiser EV: Design
The exterior of the Urban Cruiser EV is muscular and sleek. Vertically stacked LED DRLs, LED headlamps, blanked-off grille and LED light bar will be seen in the front. The side profile includes large alloy wheels, chunky wheel cladding and Toyota-specific elements like a unique front grille, redesigned bumpers and alloy wheels. The rear has connected LED taillamps, integrated spoiler and a large diffuser.
Interior and Features
The cabin is going to be spacious and versatile. It has a dual-tone theme, full blacked-out elements and gloss finish. Apart from this, two-spoke steering wheel, dual fully digital display (10.25-inch driver display), auto-dimming IRVM and rotary dial for drive modes will also be available. The rear seats are sliding and 40:20:40 split-folding. Its load space can range from 310-566 litres. Apart from this, ambient lighting will also be available in 12 different colors.
This includes a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, powered driver seat, wireless phone charging, fixed glass roof, sunroof, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, Type-C fast charging ports, embedded navigation, cloud-based route planning and MyToyota app. You can control battery charging schedule, AC pre-operation and door locking from the app. Drive modes include Eco, Normal, Sport and Peddle (one-pedal driving).

Standard features include 7 airbags, 360-degree camera, front/rear parking sensors, TPMS, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill hold control, hill descent control and seat belt reminder. Level-2 ADAS includes Brake Support System (Vehicles/Pedestrians Detection), Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Driver Monitoring System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Monitor. Battery, Motor and Range
Like Maruti e Vitara, it can also be purchased with two LFP battery options – 49 kWh and 61 kWh. Both will have single front motor and FWD option. It will not be sold with AWD option in the Indian market. The first 49 kWh battery pack will produce 144 PS power and 192.5 Nm torque and will be capable of delivering a WLTP claimed range of 344 km.
The second is a 61 kWh battery pack, which is capable of producing 174 PS power and 192.5 Nm torque. It is capable of giving a maximum ARAI claimed range of 543 km. With the help of fast charging, it can be charged 10-80% in just 45 minutes. Battery warranty is going to be up to 8 years/1.6 lakh km.
