It is accompanied by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) with 47.7 kW (64 hp) and 250 Nm torque, which runs on a 1.49 kWh battery pack. It has a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard, while an all-wheel drive system is optional. With a total of 176 kW (236 hp) power and 380 Nm torque, the Sorento Hybrid accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds (2WD)/9.0 seconds (AWD). Its top speed is 196 km/h, while in electric mode it can go up to 120 km/h. According to Europe's WLTP, this hybrid SUV gives a mileage of 15.2 km/liter (2WD)/14.3 km/liter (AWD).

Tata Sierra EV:
Sierra EV will be launched in the first quarter of 2026
Although the Sierra has just been revived for the modern era, Tata Motors' plans for the nameplate are far from over as it looks to launch a battery electric version of the SUV in the first quarter of 2026. It is expected to come with 55 kWh and 65 kWh battery pack variants, which will enable both rear and all-wheel drive versions. Although official details are not available yet, the Sierra EV is expected to offer a single-charge range of between 450 and 500 km. Prices are expected to hover in the range of from 20 lakhs Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki will enter the growing Indian passenger EV market with the launch of the e Vitara in January 2026, marking the beginning of the carmaker's electric strategy. Based on the HEARTECT-e architecture, it will be offered in 49 kWh and 61 kWh battery packs, offering a single-charge range of between 344 and 543 km (ARAI). The e Vitara will also debut Suzuki's ALLGRIP-e electric 4WD system on the 61 kWh variant, with independent front and rear axles. These variants will offer a dedicated Trail mode that employs selective braking and torque distribution to improve off-road performance.

VinFast has confirmed its plans to explore full-scale expansion in India's EV sector and is looking to bring its entire global portfolio to our shores. Leading the charge will be the VinFast Limo Green, a seven-seat electric MPV that will rival the Kia Carens Clavis EV. It gets a 60.13 kWh battery pack that powers a 150 kW motor that produces 280 Nm of peak torque and a single-charge driving range of up to 450 km.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Facelift:
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift electric SUV has been introduced for global markets with a bigger battery that promises more range.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift will be launched in India around June 2026 and will come with several cosmetic changes as well as functional enhancements. There will be changes to the front and rear fascias, which will likely result in a revised bumper and front grille design. Talking about the inside, it will provide physical controls for essential vehicle functions. Although it comes in both RWD and AWD versions, the Indian market will likely get the larger 84 kWh battery pack that sends power to the rear. Maruti Suzuki plans electric vehicles, flex-fuel models and a facelift for 2026, the FrontX hybrid will arrive in 2027, a new hybrid MPV will also be launched in 2029.
New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki plans several new product launches for 2026, including electric vehicles, flex-fuel models and facelifts. Earlier there were reports that Maruti Frontex hybrid compact crossover may hit the Indian roads next year. However, now the company has postponed its launch till 2027. Front Hybrid will be the first model of Maruti Suzuki which will get in-house developed strong hybrid powertrain.
Why is there a delay? According to reports, Maruti Suzuki's new series hybrid powertrain (codenamed HEV) will include the tried-and-tested 1.2L Z12, three-cylinder petrol engine, 1.5-2kWh battery pack and an electric motor. But the company is facing packaging problems in fitting these three components in a limited space, due to which the launch is getting delayed.
What is a series hybrid powertrain? In the series hybrid system, the petrol engine works only to generate electricity and does not directly drive the wheels like a conventional engine. The generated electricity is either used to charge the battery or directly power the electric motor. Only the electric motor drives the wheels. This setup makes driving smooth and provides better fuel efficiency in stop-go traffic.
How will Maruti's hybrid system be different? Maruti Suzuki's series hybrid system is considered to be much more economical than Toyota's Atkinson Strong Hybrid setup, which currently powers the Victoris, Grand Vitara and Invicto. It will be specially designed for Maruti Suzuki's mass-market models like Baleno, Swift and Brezza. The Indo-Japanese automaker is also planning to launch a new hybrid MPV in 2029, which will be based on the Suzuki Solio.
There will be competition with them Upcoming Maruti Hybrid MPV Codenamed YVF, the new Maruti hybrid MPV will be launched against the Renault Triber and the upcoming Nissan Gravit. It will be based on Suzuki Solio and its length will be less than 4 meters. Powered sliding rear doors and other premium features can be provided in it. The Japan-spec Suzuki Solio gets a 1.2L, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol hybrid powertrain and a CVT gearbox. This setup gives a claimed fuel efficiency of 22kmpl under the WLTC test cycle.

There won't be much change in design and features, but the EV version may get some EV-specific software upgrades and badges.
New Tata Punch EV Facelift The 2026 Tata Punch EV may see mild design changes and feature upgrades, while the existing powertrain options will remain intact. There is talk that the updated model may get the 45kWh battery pack of the Nexon EV, which gives an ARAI range of 489 km on full charge.
