How beneficial is it to buy a car with zero down payment? Know the truth, your hard earned money will be saved

How beneficial is it to buy a car with zero down payment? Know the truth, your hard earned money will be saved

In today's times, it has become quite easy to bring home your favorite car. Car companies and banks to woo customers 'Zero down payment'' Present the scheme. This simply means that you do not have to pay a single rupee from your pocket for the initial price of the car or the booking amount and the entire amount is financed by the bank.

This scheme is a great opportunity for those who do not have large savings immediately available, but have a good monthly income. However, it is not as attractive as it looks. Some mathematics and conditions are also hidden behind this. Is buying a car with zero down payment a better option, or can this deal prove costly? Come, let us try to find out.

Benefits of zero down payment scheme

  • Savings remain safe: You do not need to spend your savings or emergency fund to buy a car.
  • Immediate Delivery: There is no need to wait for months or years to collect the down payment. You can finance the car immediately by going to the showroom.
  • Liquidity is maintained: The money you give as down payment, you can invest it somewhere else or save it for your other needs.

What are its hidden tricks?

The other side of the coin is that this scheme also comes with some additional burdens, which are important to understand. Come, let us look at these one by one-

more interest will be charged

Often, banks charge 0.5% to 2% more interest on zero down payment loans than normal loans.

Big EMI

Since you are taking the full value of the car on loan, your monthly installment (EMI) will be much higher than a normal loan.

Processing Fees and Taxes

Many times banks charge higher file charges or processing fees in the name of 'zero down payment'. Additionally, you may have to pay road tax and insurance in cash, which banks do not cover in 'Pure 100% On-Road' financing.

Smart tips to avoid hidden charges

If you have decided to choose this scheme, then keep these things in mind-

  • On-Road vs Ex-Showroom: Clarify whether the loan is available on the 'ex-showroom' price of the car or on the 'on-road' price. Try to include registration and insurance in the loan.
  • Fixed vs floating rate: Always check whether the interest rate is fixed or floating.
  • Foreclosure Charges: In future, if you want to repay the loan prematurely, how much penalty will the bank charge? Check this in the agreement beforehand.
  • Credit Score: The better your CIBIL score, the more discount you can get in interest rates.

Our advice: Zero down payment scheme is best for those who have a strong cash-flow position but have not been able to raise the lump sum while purchasing a car. However, in the long run you pay more in interest. Therefore, read the fine print carefully before signing the deal. If possible, you can reduce the loan and interest for the future by making as much down payment as possible.

Diesel vs CNG Car: Which fuel option will be beneficial for you? Know

Diesel vs CNG Car: Which fuel option will be beneficial for you? Know

Nowadays, buying a car has become a big decision. Especially when it comes to fuel option. Diesel and CNG are two popular fuel options, especially in cities like Delhi. Diesel cars are known for their durability and long range capability, whereas CNG cars are known for their cheap running costs and eco-friendly nature.

In such a situation the question arises that which option is better for you? It depends on your driving pattern, budget and needs. The price of diesel in Delhi in February 2026 is approximately ₹ 87.67 per liter, while the price of CNG is ₹ 77.09 per kg. Let us know about these two, so that you can take the right decision.

Price and running costs

First of all let's talk about running cost. The main advantage of CNG cars is their low cost. For example, an average CNG car gives a mileage of 25-30 km per kg. If you drive 1 km, the cost of CNG is approximately ₹ 2.77.

At the same time, diesel cars give mileage of 20-25 km per liter. The running cost of diesel is around ₹ 3.90 per km. If you drive 20,000 km annually, CNG will cost you ₹ 55,400, while diesel will cost you around ₹ 78,000. This means CNG will save ₹ 22,600 annually. However, the starting price of CNG cars is slightly higher than diesel. For example, the price of Tata Punch CNG starts from ₹ 7.3 lakh, while the diesel variant may be slightly cheaper.

Mileage and performance

CNG is ahead in terms of mileage. Popular cars like Maruti Swift CNG gives 32.85 km/kg, while diesel is better on the highway, like Hyundai Venue diesel gives 24 km/l. However, CNG has less power. Like 100hp in Nexon CNG, but more torque is available in diesel. If you drive a lot on the highway or carry heavy load, then diesel is a better option. At the same time, high mileage of CNG is beneficial for traffic in the city. In real-world tests, Tata Altroz CNG gives 25.11 km/kg, which is better than diesel's 24.2 km/litre.

Maintenance and servicing

Diesel cars are expensive in maintenance. Due to the complex parts of diesel engine, spare parts and service cost is high. This may cost Rs 10 to 15 thousand annually. Maintenance is a little more in CNG cars because the kit needs to be checked. Like frequent servicing of spark plugs and filters.

Overall, if your running is more than 15,000 km, then the savings on CNG cover the maintenance. The life of CNG engine is like petrol, but there is less wear and tear than diesel. However, CNG may require more maintenance after a year if the running is less. There is good availability of CNG stations in Delhi, but diesel is easily available everywhere.

Environment and other factors

CNG is cleaner from environmental point of view. Lower emissions, such as CO2 and particulate matter. Diesel causes more pollution, due to which diesel cars are being banned in many cities. CNG cars are the most eco-friendly option after EV in 2026. Boot space is less in CNG because of the tank, whereas there is no problem in diesel. Diesel is better in resale value if the car is in good condition, but demand for CNG is increasing. If your running is less (10,000 km/year), then diesel is of no use because maintenance will be more. At the same time, CNG gives 20-30% savings in long running.

Which one is right for you?

If you drive a lot in the city, want low running costs and care about the environment, then CNG is better. Like Maruti Ertiga CNG or Tata Nexon CNG. If you want long trips, more power and torque, then choose diesel. Like Kia Sonet Diesel. Overall, the benefits of CNG are more visible in 2026. Especially in Delhi where CNG infrastructure is strong. Before buying a car, take a test drive and calculate your budget.

Buying your first car with a budget of ₹ 10 lakh, which is better between petrol and CNG? Know

Buying your first car with a budget of ₹ 10 lakh, which is better between petrol and CNG? Know

First Car Buying Tips: Buying your first car is a dream of almost everyone. If you are also looking for your first car in the coming days in a budget of up to Rs 10 lakh and are confused about which to choose between petrol or CNG, then this article of ours is useful for you. There are good hatchbacks to small and better SUVs to choose from in the segment priced below Rs 10 lakh. First time car buyers are often confused about two things.

The smooth performance and power of the engine should be given priority or the huge savings in fuel expenses incurred every month should be kept in mind. On one hand, petrol cars are considered reliable for their refined driving and long distance journeys, while on the other hand, CNG cars with modern technology like 'twin cylinder' have solved the age-old problem of boot space to a great extent. In such a situation, let us know which fuel option will be the best option for you in the budget of ₹ 10 lakh? We will look at different facts.

1. Running Cost and Mileage

If you are buying your first car mainly for going to office or driving within the city, where the daily journey is 40-50 kilometers, then CNG is the most economical option for you. Compared to petrol, the mileage of CNG is around 25-34 km/kg, which reduces your running cost to almost half as compared to petrol. At the same time, if your car goes out only once or twice a week or the total journey in a month is less than 500 km, then the initial low price of petrol car will be more beneficial for you.

2. Performance and driving experience

Driving feel is very important for those who drive a car for the first time. Petrol engines are known for their silent working and instant pickup (torque). Petrol engines give more confidence while overtaking on the highway or climbing mountains. Although companies like Maruti and Tata have refined their CNG kits a lot, still there is a lack of 10-15% power compared to petrol.

3. Boot Space and Utilities

Often the first car is used for family trips. In old CNG cars, the boot space was completely lost due to the cylinder. But in 2026, Tata Motors' 'Twin Cylinder' technology has changed this, where the cylinders have been shifted down and there is space for luggage on top. Still, in a pure petrol car you get full cargo space without any compromise, which is essential for long trips.

4. Maintenance and Resale Value

Servicing petrol cars is usually cheap and simple. In CNG cars, it is necessary to get the cylinder checked and leakage tested every few years. Talking about resale value, in olden times the demand for petrol cars was high, but due to the rising prices of fuel, now both the demand and price of company-fitted CNG cars have started getting quite good in the second hand market.

What's right for you?

If you are fond of driving, you need more power, your running is less and you like to travel with a lot of luggage in the boot, then petrol vehicles are best for you. At the same time, if your aim is to keep fuel expenses low, your daily running is high and you spend more time in city traffic, then feel free to buy a CNG car.

Why is Stepney one inch smaller than regular tyre? 90% people don't know the real reason

Last Updated:

The small stepiness of the car is not a shortcoming, but a great wisdom. After all, why do companies offer space-saver tires instead of full-size tires? There are interesting reasons behind this related to mileage, weight, boot space and cost. Next time before you get a puncture, know the secret of this smart engineering.

Why does the stepney (spare tire) in a car often appear half to an inch smaller than the regular tire? This is not a shortcoming, but a well-thought-out design. It is also called space-saver or donut tyre. The main reasons are weight, space and cost savings. Let us know why this is done.

Weight Reduction: Making the Stepney smaller and lighter reduces the overall weight of the car. Less weight increases fuel efficiency and improves mileage. If the Stepney was as big as a regular tyre, the car would be carrying extra weight all the time, which would lead to higher petrol/diesel costs. This is also beneficial for environmental regulations.

Spare Tire in boot

Space Saving: Smaller tire occupies less space in the trunk. This provides more boot space and is convenient for storing luggage. Keeping a regular sized spare would fill the trunk quite a lot, this is especially a problem in small cars. Space-saver designs allow car manufacturers to simplify packaging.

Tire Manufacturing

Cost Cutting: Companies save money by making Stepney smaller. Smaller tire and rim are cheaper, material is less. This is only for emergencies, so there is no need to make it high-quality or expensive. With this the total price of the car can be kept low.

spare tire changing

Temporary use only: Stepney is not meant for long distance or high speed use. It is meant for use only at 70-80 km/hr speed and up to 50-100 km to reach the nearest service centre. Due to its small size, it is advisable not to use it at long distances.

spare tire use

Ease of Handling: Being small and light the stepney becomes easy to change. Especially women or people with less strength can easily lift and fit it. Changing a heavy regular tire would have been difficult. This is also a practical advantage in emergency.

punctured car tire

Are there any disadvantages: When Stepni is installed, the ground clearance of the car may reduce slightly and the handling may feel different. Therefore, keep the speed low and do not drive for long periods. Some cars have a full-size spare, but most come with a space-saver only.

Tire Replacement

Summary: Stepney being small is not a flaw, but smart engineering. This is done for weight saving, space saving, fuel efficiency, low cost and easy handling. Next time you get a puncture, remember that it has been deliberately made small, so that you can change the tire easily and the expenses are also less.

Tata Motors, one of the country's popular car companies, has recorded excellent performance in its passenger vehicle (PV) sales in February 2026. The company sold a total of 63,331 passenger vehicles, which shows an increase of 35.29% compared to last year in February 2025. In February 2025, the company had sold 46,811 units, whereas this year the difference was 16,520 units.

This growth is mainly due to strong demand in the domestic market and the boom in the electric vehicles (EV) segment. However, sales saw a decline of 11.37% compared to January 2026, where 70,222 units were sold. Let's take a look at last month's Celt report.

Demand increased in domestic market

According to Tata Motors report, 62,329 units were sold in the domestic market in February 2026, which is 34.23% more than 46,435 units in February 2025. There was a difference of 15,894 units in domestic sales. The company says that this growth is driven by the demand for popular models like Nexon, Punch and Tiago. Apart from this, Tata's strong hold in the EV segment also played an important role.

Total EV sales in February 2026 stood at 8,385 units, which is 56.93% more than last year's 5,343 units, which was an increase of 3,042 units. The popularity of models like Tata Nexon EV and Tigor EV has strengthened the company's share in the EV market.

Boom in exports too

Tata Motors also performed brilliantly in exports. 1,002 units were exported in February 2026, which is 166.49% more than 376 units in February 2025. This increase reflects the increasing demand in markets like Africa, Middle East and South Asia. Overall, this surge in PV sales is a result of Tata Motors' strategic initiatives such as the launch of new EV models and introduction of BaaS along with supply chain improvements.

monthly sales decreased

However, there has been a decline in sales on month-on-month (MOM) basis. Sales of record 70,222 units in January 2026 fell to 62,239 units (domestic) in February, showing a decline of 7,983 units. This could be due to seasonal factors, such as post-Budget uncertainty or supply chain disruptions. Nevertheless, year-on-year growth continues to maintain the company's strong position.

What did the company say?

Tata Motors MD Shailesh Chandra said that February sales reflect confidence in our EV portfolio and the domestic market. We plan to launch more innovative models in 2026, including the Curve EV and Harrier EV. The growth in the company's EV sales has also been encouraged by the EV policy and subsidy schemes of the Government of India.

Auto industry analysts say that Tata Motors remains at third position in the passenger vehicle market after Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, but it is the leader in the EV segment. The company's market share has increased to about 14% due to February sales. In the coming months, further increase in sales is expected due to Holi and summer demand.
