It received a major generation update in 2024, which saw many changes in the car, style and safety features. However, it did not perform well in the crash test conducted by Australian Encap. The fourth generation Swift could only get a star safety rating. However, it got 3 stars in the Euro Encap Crash Test. The updated made-in-India Swift has now been crashed again by ANCAP.

Silent update
Suzuki recently updated Swift's species quietly, and these changes have proved to be helpful in improving safety ratings. Interestingly, both ANCAP and Suzuki have kept silence about these changes/updates made in the vehicle. Despite these changes, the price of Australia-Spec Swift remains the same.

Features separate from India-spec model

According to the information we have, these safety updates are included in the Swift sold since September 2025. The official website of the Australian Encap confirms that the new rating applies to all variants, except base-spec GL. The hatchback contains dual front, side chest and side cutting airbags (which occur for safety of passengers during the collision) come as standard fitments. Center airbags have not been given among the front passengers.

Safety score
The updated Swift scored 26.87 out of 40 in the Adult Occupant Protection Test – which is about 67% safety. It got 3.52/8 marks in the frontal offset test, 5.51/6 in side impact test and in the Obluge Poll Test. In the Child Occupant Protection Test, it got 32.28 out of 49. Safety was judged 65% here. The vehicle scored 8.51 points out of 16 in the front dynamic test and 5.54/8 in the side dynamic test. Valnarbal Road user protection was higher at 76%, as the vehicle scored 48 out of 63.

How long will it be launched?
The Honda Hybrid SUV for India is planning to enter the Japanese and Hybrid SUV segment in 2026-2027. Its first Hybrid SUV in India will be Honda Elevate, which will probably debut during the festive season in the second half of 2026. While official powertrain details have not yet been revealed, Honda Eleivet Hybrid's City E: HEV is expected to share the Atkinson Cycle 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engine.

Two electric motors

In the sedan, this motor comes with two electric motors – one acts as a generator and the other provides propulsion. The setup with the E-CVT gearbox offers 26.5kmpl mileage and a driving range of about 1,000km.

Honda Electric SUV for India will hit the roads between Honda's first electric SUV April 2026 – March 2027. Unlike earlier media reports, Takashi Nakajima, president and CEO of HCIL, has confirmed that it will not be a base on the elevate.   • The third generation Renault Duster will come to India in early 2026. SUV will get important design changes and more premium interior inspired by Dacia Bigster. A hybrid version is expected to arrive about 6 months after the Ice variant.
  • The new generation Maruti Baleno will be the first model of the brand's in-house Strong Hybrid Povertrain. It can be introduced with a series hybrid system, with a 1.2L Z-Series petrol engine. According to reports, it is likely to give fuel efficiency of more than 35kmpl.
  • The popular Mahindra Bolero SUV will finally get a much awaited generative upgrade in 2026. This is expected to be the first production model to feature Mahindra's new NU_IQ platform. While the SUV can retain the existing diesel engine, the interior will be significantly upgraded.
