The French carmaker is struggling with low sales in India.Basalt Coupe became the company's best performing car.579 units of Basalt sold in August 2024.

New Delhi. French carmaker Citroen's position in India has not been very strong so far. Looking at the sales figures, it seemed that the company might shut down its operations in the Indian market as its sales were continuously falling. But now the Basalt SUV (Citroen Basalt) has performed brilliantly, breathing new life into the company's sales. Its tremendous sales in August 2024 have taken the company's total sales figure past 1,200 units.

Two petrol engine options are given in Basalt. The first is a naturally aspirated 1.2 liter petrol engine, which gives 81 bhp and 115 Nm of torque. It is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The second is a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine, which generates 108 bhp power and 195 Nm torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. In India, it competes with models like Tata Curve as well as Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. Now let's take a look at the company's sales report.

Citroen's sales were highest in August
The chart above shows Citroen's sales report for the last 6 months, from which it is clear that as soon as the Basalt SUV was launched, the company's sales jumped sharply. If we look at the report of August 2024 only, then it has been the highest sales month in the last six months. The biggest contribution to this sale is from the Basalt Coupe SUV.

The company's total sales stood at 1,275 units, of which the Basalt Coupe SUV alone sold 579 units. This is a clear indication of the sudden increase in the company's sales. It seems that Basalt has given a new direction to the company, because in the last five months, Citroen's sales were around 500 units only. But with the launch of Basalt, this figure has reached above 1,200 units.

What is the price?
This clearly shows that the Basalt SUV has given a boost to Citroen's sales. Now it will be interesting to see whether this surge is just a result of the launch of Basalt or whether the sales of the company's other cars will also grow at the same pace in the coming months.

Talking about Citroen Basalt, its price starts from Rs 7.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 13.83 lakh (ex-showroom).

Just do this for 40 seconds while starting the car, the life of the engine will double, 90% people do not know this trick

Highlights

After starting the car in the morning, it should not be driven immediately. It is very important to increase the cold running life of the car's engine.30-40 seconds of cold running increases both the engine life and mileage.

New Delhi. Many people complain that their car is not too old, but it has started having many problems. Actually, there are many precautions regarding the car which people generally do not know and they keep making the same mistake again and again, the effect of which starts showing on their car after some time.

In the morning people are in a hurry to go to office or work and in this hurry we forget to do what is very important for the car. But from starting the car to driving, there are many things which if paid attention to can increase the life of the car's engine. Often many people start the car and leave, but if you give only 40 seconds to your car at this time, then the chances of engine problems are reduced by 90%. Most people ignore this and regret later. So let's know what you should do first after starting the car in the morning.

Do this work for 40 seconds in the morning
Let us tell you that after starting the car in the morning, it should be idling. Idling means running the engine without putting the car in gear. Actually, when the car is parked overnight, the engine oil collects at one place inside its engine. But when we idle the engine for a while after starting the car, the engine oil reaches every part inside and the engine gets lubricated. When we start the car immediately and start driving, the engine is not lubricated properly. Due to lack of lubrication, the internal parts wear out, which reduces the life of the engine.

However, if you allow the engine to warm up for just 30-40 seconds after starting the car, the engine performance improves and the car also starts giving good mileage.

RPM meter gives indication
You can look at the RPM meter to know whether the lubrication of the car's engine is done properly or not and when to stop idling. After starting the car, the needle of its RPM meter remains around 1000 RPM. You do not have to put the car in gear at this time. During this time, wait for the RPM to come down below 1000. In a few seconds, the RPM will come between 700-800, then it is okay to put the car in gear and drive.

If your car is parked for a long time and you are going to drive it, then in this situation also you should follow this rule. This keeps the engine lubricated and the parts do not get damaged.

The dealer may sell you a bad car during the festive season, keep these things in mind before delivery

The dealer may sell you a bad car during the festive season, keep these things in mind before delivery

Highlights

During the festive season, many dealers sell bad cars to people. To avoid this, PDI must be done before taking delivery of the car.Along with inspecting the car in PDI, you can also check its documents.

New Delhi. The festive season is about to start in the country. In such a situation, many people have started planning to buy a car. Many of these people will also be buying a car for the first time and this will be the first car in their family. In such a situation, people expect that they get the full value of the car they are buying. But it is also important to keep some things in mind while buying a new car. Let us tell you that many times dealers sell defective cars to people under the guise of festive season. Due to which later customers have to face a lot of trouble in getting it fixed. If you have also booked a new car and are waiting for delivery, then keep some things in mind before taking delivery of the car.

Here we are telling you what precautions should be taken before buying a car. How to deal with the car dealer and why Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI) is necessary before taking delivery of the car from the showroom and how it is done. Let's know…

Dealers hand over defective cars to the showroom
There are four ways in which dealers sell defective cars at the showroom
(1) Car dealers keep test models of some cars in their showrooms which are used to give test drives to customers. These cars get damaged due to being driven by many people and some of their parts also get damaged. Dealers cleverly repair these cars and sell them to new customers.

(2) There are some vehicles that get damaged during transportation or have dents on their exterior. Some dealers repair these cars and sell them without informing the customer.

(3) Due to low demand, cars often remain parked in the dealer's stockyard. Due to the effect of weather, these cars start rusting, the paint gets damaged and the tyres also start getting damaged. The dealers hide all these defects and sell the cars to the customers.

(4) Sometimes the waiting period for some variants of vehicles is long. In such a situation, the pressure to complete the supply of vehicles increases. Vehicles supplied in a hurry have some defects, which are later repaired and sold to the customer.

Why is PDI necessary and when should it be done?
PDI means Pre Delivery Inspection. This is a process in which inspection facility is available before the delivery of the car. In this, the interior, exterior, engine and all the features of the car are checked to see if they are working properly or not. By doing PDI, it can be known whether there is any problem in the car or not. The car dealer knows in advance what the problem is in the car and how to hide it from the customer before delivery. Therefore, PDI of the car should be done before the car is registered.

The dealer himself does the PDI. After a thorough check, a PDI badge is put on the car, which indicates that the car is ready for delivery. Before taking delivery of the car from the dealer, the customer can also do the PDI of the car himself and check everything at his level.

Know how to do PDI…
First of all, make a checklist. In this list, note down every point to be checked in the car like- engine, exterior, interior, tyres, features, paint of the car etc. The advantage of this list will be that no thing will be missed.

Check the exterior like this…
-Walk around the car and see if there are any scratches or dents in it. Pay special attention to the bumper and the edges of the car.
–To hide small scratches, dealers polish the car. These scratches become visible after washing it once or twice.
–For this, try running your hand over the entire body of the car. This will help you spot any dents or scratches. This will make the paintwork visible.
-Look at the body from a very close and side angle. This will show the color difference if it has been re-painted somewhere.
–Look carefully at all the corners of the car such as door edges and panel gaps, edges around windows and the front bumper.
–When a car is parked for a long time, the tyres become flat. Even new car tyres can get worn out.
–Check all four tyres, also check the rim and alloy wheel. Check the stepney properly, also check the jack and other tools.

Check the interior like this…
–Check the dashboard, upholstery, seats and glovebox thoroughly inside the car.
–Remove the floor mats and check if there is any moisture or dirt in the carpet.
–Also check all the mirrors of the car to see if there are any cracks or scratches in them.
–Check all the switches in the car. Make sure they are working properly or not.
–Switch on the air conditioner (AC) and check if the cabin cools down quickly.

Engine, Odometer and Fuel
–Open the bonnet of the car and check its fluid levels. Engine oil, coolant, brake fluid and windscreen washing fluid should be filled.
–Start the engine and let it run for a while. Check under the bonnet for any leaks or unusual noises or vibrations.
– Apart from this, keep your foot on the accelerator pedal and accelerate two or three times and listen to the sound of the engine. Black smoke is not coming out of the engine.
–The odometer reading of a new car should not be more than 30-50 km. If the reading is more than 30-50 km, then talk to the dealer about it.

Also verify the car documents
–Check all the papers of the car like- registration certificate, insurance cover, manuals, warranty card, roadside assistance number and service book.
–Take 'Form 22' from the dealer and check it. It contains the information of the car's engine number, chassis number and the month and year of car manufacturing.
–Check if the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), Engine Number and Chassis Number of the car matches with the documents provided by the dealer.

take a test drive
–Take a test drive once with the dealer representative. During the test drive, check the steering, gear shifter, brakes and suspension of the car.
–Make sure that the car is not making too much noise and check if the car is not vibrating too much. Also notice the engine noise.

Make a video of the inspection
Register the car in your name only after checking everything. Keep an eye on the car after registration. Do not let the car go back inside the service center. If the car has to be sent inside, send it with another car. If you want to be more secure, make a video of the entire inspection.

Also know these important tips…
-If the dealer refuses to do PDI then understand that there is something wrong with the car. You can refuse to buy such a car.
–If any major problem is found in PDI then it is wise not to buy such a car. This will not lighten your pocket in the future.
–The biggest advantage of doing a pre-delivery inspection is that you avoid buying a bad or damaged vehicle.
–Many times, due to a small mistake, one has to suffer loss or has to visit the showroom again later.

Tax of 7 lakhs on SUV worth 14.50 lakhs! The person expressed his pain by showing the receipt of the car

New Delhi. You pay tax on whatever goods you buy. Tax is the main source of income for the government. The Product and Service Tax (GST) was implemented on 1 July 2017 by removing various types of taxes imposed on products and goods in India. Currently, four types of tax slabs have been created under GST according to the product, which include tax slabs of 5%, 12%, 18% and 28%. Let us tell you that you have to pay 28% GST on vehicles sold in the country. At the same time, a separate cess is also levied according to the size, engine capacity and fuel type of the vehicles.

In the case of vehicles, this tax goes above 50%. If you buy an SUV in India, you pay more than 50% tax to the government through GST. Recently, a picture of the price breakup receipt of an SUV shared by a person on X went viral, after which it has become a topic of discussion.

Tax on SUVs is more than 50%
Let us tell you that the government levies 28% GST on big vehicles like SUVs. In this, the central tax and the state government have an equal share. At the same time, an additional cess of 20-22% is also levied on SUVs. This makes the tax on an SUV almost 50%.

A person named Sumit Bahl shared a picture on his Instagram handle in which information was given about the tax imposed on the ex-showroom price of the diesel model of Mahindra XUV700. According to the post, the actual price of the SUV is Rs 14,58,738.78, while a total cess of Rs 4,08,459.46 has been imposed on it at the rate of 28% GST and Rs 2,91,756.76 at the rate of 20% cess. If the tax is combined, then this SUV worth about 14.50 lakhs is available to the customer for Rs 21,59,000 with GST. At the same time, the customer is paying a tax of about Rs 7 lakh.

It has been more than 9 years since Maruti Ciaz was launched in the market. In all this time, the company has not made any major changes in this car. Let us tell you that during this time, three generations of Hyundai Verna and Honda City have been launched. Another big reason for the low sales of Ciaz is its outdated engine. Someone please buy it! More than 7 lakh cars are waiting for customers, buy now and get discount up to 12 lakhs

Someone please buy it! More than 7 lakh cars are waiting for customers, buy now and get discount up to 12 lakhs

Highlights

More than 7 lakh cars are parked with the dealers.Car companies reduced the speed of production.Companies are offering huge discounts to reduce the stock of vehicles.

New Delhi. The festive season begins in the country with Rakshabandhan. During this time, the sales of car companies start increasing and it lasts till the end of the year. However, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) has said that the inventory of cars with dealers in the country has reached around 7 lakhs. These are the cars that have not been sold and are standing at the dealership. FADA says that this is a matter of concern for the world's third largest car market. Despite it being the festive season, people are buying fewer cars, due to which the inventory of dealers is increasing and they are incurring losses.

According to the latest reports, this stock is more than two months old. According to market experts, 30 days of inventory is considered normal, but in the current situation the inventory has reached about 60-70 days. In such a situation, the cost of maintaining these cars is increasing on the dealers. Seeing the increasing stock level with the dealers, some car companies have slowed down their production.

Cars worth Rs 73,000 crore are parked at dealerships
According to reports, 7 lakh cars are parked at dealerships across the country, whose total value is approximately Rs 73,000 crore. FADA says that if this situation continues for a long time, then the dealers may have to suffer huge losses. Dealers have to spend lakhs of rupees every month in the maintenance of cars parked in their stock yard. Apart from this, the loan on the cars and the rent for the space also have to be paid on time. If the demand in the market remains low, then the dealers will suffer direct loss.

FADA says that it has seen the inventory of cars increase from 65-67 days at the beginning of July 2024 to around 70-75 days as of today. Dealers currently have around 7,30,000 vehicles on hand, which is equivalent to about 2 months of sales. However, the Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association (SIAM) estimates this figure to be around 4,00,000 units of cars. Vehicle manufacturers can reduce production and increase the sales network for better inventory management.

Why did vehicle sales decline?
Auto experts are giving several reasons for the decline in vehicle sales. The sales have slowed down due to the intense heat in the country for the last few months and heavy rains in some states after that. At the same time, people are buying fewer vehicles right now in anticipation of getting good discounts in the upcoming festive season.

In July 2024, except Mahindra, Kia and Toyota, most car companies have registered a decline in sales. Maruti Suzuki's sales in July were about 9.65% less than in July last year. At the same time, Hyundai, Tata Motors and Honda have also registered a decline. Tata Motors' electric vehicle sales have also seen a sharp decline. Electric car sales have seen a decline of 7% year-on-year in the April-June quarter. At the same time, sales of Tata Motors, which is called the leader of the EV segment, have fallen by 21% in July.

Vehicle companies are giving huge discounts
At this time, most car companies are offering huge discounts on their vehicles. Tata Motors is offering discounts of lakhs of rupees on its Safari, Harrier and even Nexon. Hyundai is also offering discounts on its models like Venue and Exeter this month. Jeep India is offering a discount of Rs 12 lakh on its Grand Cherokee model. Now its starting price has become Rs 68.50 lakh. Earlier its price used to be Rs 80.50 lakh.
