Kia India has opened pre-bookings for three new powertrain variants of its MPV lineup — the Carens CNG, Carens Clavis CNG and Carnival Limousine Hybrid. Bookings are currently being accepted through Kia’s authorised dealer network, while prices for all three models will be announced at a later date.
The new variants were recently showcased at Kia Inspiration Day and expand the company’s powertrain portfolio beyond conventional petrol and diesel options. The Carens and Carens Clavis get factory-fitted CNG technology, while the Carnival Limousine adds a hybrid powertrain.
Kia Carens CNG And Clavis CNG: What Changes?
Both the Carens CNG and Carens Clavis CNG use the G1.5 petrol engine paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Kia will equip the two MPVs with a factory-fitted CNG system and a 60-litre CNG tank.
The CNG versions receive several mechanical and software changes compared with their conventional counterparts. These include CNG-specific engine calibration and a modified suspension setup. Both models also get 16-inch wheels and 16-inch disc brakes.
Inside, the CNG models feature a dedicated fuel-change switch and a 4.2-inch colour TFT MID with CNG-specific distance-to-empty information. Kia has also modified the third-row seat-back frame to provide a greater recline angle.
The Carens CNG will be available in the Premium (O) G1.5 6MT specification. The Carens Clavis CNG will be offered in HTE and HTE (O) G1.5 6MT variants.
Kia will also offer CNG versions for commercial and business applications. The Carens CNG will be available in the M-Drive G1.5 6MT, while the Carens Clavis CNG will be offered in the HTM G1.5 6MT configuration.
Kia Carnival Limousine Hybrid Gets 1.6-Litre Turbo-Petrol Hybrid
The third addition is the Carnival Limousine Hybrid, which uses a G1.6T HEV powertrain paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It will be offered exclusively in the Limousine+ trim.
Unlike the CNG variants, the Carnival Hybrid is positioned as an electrified alternative within Kia’s premium MPV range. The model also gets a selection of equipment aimed at enhancing comfort and convenience.
Features include 18-inch Crystal Cut Dual Tone Aero Alloy wheels, Active Air Flaps and a Virtual Engine Sound System. The cabin gets a Smart Pure Air Purifier with an AQI display, retractable and height-adjustable seat-back tables with wireless charging, cup holders and monotone ambient lighting.
The Carnival Hybrid also features leatherette-wrapped door trims.
Prices To Be Announced
Kia has not revealed pricing for the Carens CNG, Carens Clavis CNG or Carnival Limousine Hybrid yet. The company is expected to announce prices closer to their respective market launches.
The addition of CNG variants gives Kia’s three-row MPVs another option for buyers seeking an alternative to conventional petrol and diesel powertrains, while the Carnival Hybrid broadens the company’s electrified offering at the premium end of its MPV range.
With all three variants now available for pre-booking, further details on pricing and availability are expected to follow from Kia India.
