Mahindra’s upcoming SUV offensive will cover a refreshed Thar, a new NU_IQ-based model and two electric SUVs through 2028
The next cycle of new SUVs for Mahindra will cover four important products for India. The company will update the three-door Thar, add a new SUV based on the Vision S concept and expand its born electric range through the BE 07 and another model inspired by the Vision T. The four products are expected to arrive over the next couple of years.
The first of the brand new products will be the Vision S based SUV which is expected in early 2027. Placed between the XUV 3XO and Scorpio N, the model will rely on Mahindra’s NU_IQ architecture. The concept’s upright proportions are expected to carry over to the production vehicle while the powertrain range could include turbo petrol and diesel engines already offered in the XUV 3XO.
Mahindra will also expand its electric portfolio above the BE 6 through the BE 07. The larger SUV will sit on the INGLO skateboard architecture and is expected to receive a larger battery pack than its sibling. Multiple motor configurations could will be part of the range while the cabin is expected to get three 12.3-inch screens. Features such as Level 2 ADAS and bi-directional charging are also expected.
An all-new off-road based electric SUV will take design inspiration from the Vision T concept and is expected to arrive in 2028. An upright and boxy profile should distinguish it from Mahindra’s other electric SUVs while elements inspired by the Thar Roxx could feature in its exterior design. It will rely on fully electric powertrains including dual e-motors to form an AWD configuration.
The updated three-door Thar will take a different approach as Mahindra will retain the existing generation while giving it a notable revision. Test vehicles have already appeared on Indian roads revealing design changes influenced by the Thar Roxx. Revised lighting and a new front bumper are expected too while the cabin could gain equipment already seen on the five-door SUV such as a larger touchscreen infotainment system and new features.
The recently unveiled Scorpio Lifestyler is also set to arrive next year while additional compact SUVs based on the NU_IQ architecture could enter production.
