Mahindra Thar Earth Edition design and features
The Mahindra Thar Earth Edition is finished in a special shade of matte paint that the company calls ‘Desert Fury’, and also gets special ‘Earth Edition’ badges on the B-pillars and rear fenders.
The Mahindra Thar Earth Edition gets a similar colour scheme on the inside, with the leatherette upholstery finished in dual-tone shades of beige and black. Carrying on the desert-inspired theme, the SUV gets line art that replicates the shape of dunes on the headrest. There’s a dark chrome finish on elements such as the Mahindra logo on the steering wheel, cupholders, gear knob and gear console.
Mahindra has said that each Thar Earth Edition will get a vehicle identification plate on the inside, which will be numbered, starting from ‘1’. While this is a common practice for limited-edition models, Mahindra has not specified if this special edition of the Thar will be produced in limited numbers.

Mahindra Thar waiting period and upcoming launches
As of February 14, 2024, Mahindra had 71,000 open bookings for the Thar, which included 4WD and RWD models. According to our dealer sources, since the introduction of the RWD model, the 4WD demand has dropped considerably. This is reflected in the waiting periods, with the 4WD models demanding a waiting period of 4-5 months, and the diesel RWD models, a wait of almost 1 year. The launch of the Thar Earth Edition could be seen as a move by Mahindra to increase the number of Thar 4WD sales
Mahindra also recently confirmed that the 5-door Thar will be launched this year.
