The three-row SUV records 30.76 points for adult occupant protection and 44.97 points for child occupant protection under Bharat NCAP
The Mahindra XUV 7XO has undergone Bharat NCAP crash testing for 2026 by recording 30.76 points out of 32 for Adult Occupant Protection and 44.97 points out of 49 for Child Occupant Protection. The assessment covered the AX7 diesel 2WD seven-seat automatic and AX7L diesel 4WD seven-seat automatic. The tested SUV weighed 2,059 kg. The XUV 7XO scored 14.76 points out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test and secured the full 16 points in the side movable deformable barrier assessment.
Bharat NCAP also lists the side pole impact assessment as okay. The adult protection result leaves the SUV only 1.24 points short of the maximum possible score across the two principal crash tests. The child protection assessment produced an almost perfect dynamic result of 23.97 points out of 24. An 18-month-old child dummy secured 7.97 points out of eight for frontal protection and four out of four for side protection.
The three-year-old child dummy received the full eight points in the frontal assessment and another four points in the side assessment. Both tests featured rearward-facing Britax Romer Dualfix Pro M i-Size child seats. The XUV 7XO also secured the maximum 12 points for child restraint installation but its vehicle assessment score stood at nine out of 13. ISOFIX and i-Size mounting points are standard on the second-row outer seats with neither available for the centre position.

The tested child restraint systems relied on ISOFIX and support-leg mounting in rearward-facing configuration. Standard safety equipment in the Mahindra XUV 7XO includes front airbags, front seat-belt pretensioners and load limiters, curtain airbags, side chest airbags and side pelvis airbags. The equipment sheet also lists ESC, pedestrian protection and seat-belt reminders as standard.
A knee airbag is optional for the driver and unavailable for the front passenger. Curtain airbags extend to the rear and ISOFIX mounts are standard for the second-row outer seats. The Bharat NCAP rating applies across a broad section of the XUV 7XO range rather than only the two crash tested specifications. Petrol manual, petrol automatic, diesel manual, diesel automatic and diesel automatic AWD versions are included in the applicability list encompassing AX, AX3, AX5, AX7, AX7T and AX7L trims – based on powertrain and seating configuration.

Mahindra also fits ESC, curtain airbags, pedestrian protection and seat-belt reminders as standard across the applicable variants. The result gives the XUV 7XO one of the highest score sheets in the current Bharat NCAP programme particularly in side impact and child dynamic testing. The three-row SUV achieved full marks in the side movable barrier test and missed the maximum child dynamic score by just 0.03 points with the overall assessment covering both 2WD and 4WD diesel automatic versions.
