Kia is preparing to launch a new car with hybrid powertrain in the Indian car market. If you are planning to buy a new SUV with better fuel efficiency, low emissions and strong performance in the coming few months, then this article is useful for you.

The company's upcoming lineup includes the next-gen Sonet Hybrid, Seltos Hybrid and Sorento Hybrid, which will bring strong-hybrid technology to the sub-compact, compact and full-size SUV segments. Kia Sonet Hybrid

The second generation Kia Sonet Hybrid (codenamed QY2E) will mark Kia's entry in the sub-compact hybrid SUV segment on the K1 platform. It is likely to be launched in 2028-29 after the standard new Sonet (2027). It will be provided with 1.5L or 1.2L strong-hybrid petrol system, which will give excellent mileage in the city.

Its ARAI mileage is expected to be around 22-25+ kmpl. The price could be kept in the ₹9-16 lakh (ex-showroom) bracket. It will be an affordable hybrid option with new styling, better safety and feature-rich cabin.

Kia Seltos Hybrid

The launch of Kia Seltos Hybrid is proposed in 2027. It will have a 1.5L strong-hybrid petrol engine with an electric motor. ARAI mileage is expected to be 25-26 kmpl with class-leading efficiency, which will be perfect for both city and highway driving.

As a mid-life update or new variant, it will be costlier than the standard model. Estimated price will be ₹ 19-25 lakh (ex-showroom). It will get the benefits of hybrid with bold design, premium interior, advanced ADAS and spacious cabin.

Kia Sorento Hybrid

Kia's large three-row SUV Sorento Hybrid (about 4.8 meters long) can be launched in late 2026 (October-November). It will have a 1.6L turbo-petrol hybrid system (around 227 hp), which will provide both performance and efficiency.

Its estimated mileage will be 18-22 kmpl. Pricing could be kept in the ₹28-35 lakh (ex-showroom) bracket. With premium luxury, spacious 7-seater cabin, high-end features and strong safety, it will compete with models like Fortuner and Kodiaq.

Preparations for the entry of a new premium 7-seater SUV in India have intensified. Wuling Starlight 560 Plug-In Hybrid SUV is being tested on Indian roads. Its spy image has surfaced again. This SUV was captured on camera during testing near MG Halol plant in Gujarat. Spotted with GJ 17 temporary number plate, there is a strong possibility of this vehicle being launched in India under the MG brand. It will compete with 7-seater cars in the market.

Starlight 560 has length 4745 mm, width 1850 mm, height 1755 mm and wheelbase 2810 mm. It is slightly larger than the Mahindra Let us know what can be seen in it.

Design and interior

The design of the Starlight 560 is boxy and upright, giving it a strong SUV look. Features and safety

Major features include wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, 6-speaker audio, OTA updates and smart connectivity. It can be equipped with Ling OS or its counterpart system. Safety features include 74.9% high-strength steel body, 1500 MPa reinforced structure, advanced battery safety system (for PHEV/EV) and standard airbags, ABS etc. There is also hope for ADAS.

Engine and Mileage

PHEV variants will mainly be available in India. It will have a 1.5L petrol engine (about 104 bhp) coupled with an electric motor, which gives a total of 194 bhp and 230 Nm torque. With a 20.5 kWh battery, you can get 100-125 km range in pure EV mode and a total range of up to 1100 km. Fuel consumption is only around 5.3 L/100 km. The EV variant will have 500 km range with 56.7 kWh battery and 134 bhp motor. 0-100 km/h is completed in just 9.7 seconds. In this way the mileage can be around 20 KMPL.
