Preparations for the entry of a new premium 7-seater SUV in India have intensified. Wuling Starlight 560 has been spotted testing in Gujarat and it is believed that it can be launched under the MG brand. With a range of up to 1100km, powerful hybrid technology, luxury features and great space, this SUV can directly challenge the big vehicles of Mahindra and Tata.

Wuling Starlight 560 Plug-In Hybrid SUV is being tested on Indian roads. Its spy image has surfaced again. This SUV was captured on camera during testing near MG Halol plant in Gujarat. Spotted with GJ 17 temporary number plate, there is a strong possibility of this vehicle being launched in India under the MG brand. It will compete with 7-seater cars in the market.

Starlight 560 has length 4745 mm, width 1850 mm, height 1755 mm and wheelbase 2810 mm. It is slightly larger than the Mahindra Let us know what can be seen in it.

Design and interior

The design of the Starlight 560 is boxy and upright, giving it a strong SUV look. The large blacked out grille, LED headlamps with DRLs, front and rear skid plates, roof rails and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels (215/55 section tyres) make it attractive. The rear features split tail lamps and an MPV-like upright profile. Despite the camouflage, its entire silhouette is now clearly visible.

The interior is minimalistic and modern. It has a two-spoke steering wheel, 3.5-inch instrument cluster and a large 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Wireless connectivity, leatherette upholstery and comfortable seats (front seats can recline 180°) give it a premium feel. Three row seating (5/7-seater) with 763 liters of boot space (expandable to 1945 litres) is perfect for family use.

Features and safety

Major features include wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, 6-speaker audio, OTA updates and smart connectivity. It can be equipped with Ling OS or its counterpart system. Safety features include 74.9% high-strength steel body, 1500 MPa reinforced structure, advanced battery safety system (for PHEV/EV) and standard airbags, ABS etc. There is also hope for ADAS.

Engine and Mileage

PHEV variants will mainly be available in India. It will have a 1.5L petrol engine (about 104 bhp) coupled with an electric motor, which gives a total of 194 bhp and 230 Nm torque. With a 20.5 kWh battery, you can get 100-125 km range in pure EV mode and a total range of up to 1100 km. Fuel consumption is only around 5.3 L/100 km. The EV variant will have 500 km range with 56.7 kWh battery and 134 bhp motor. 0-100 km/h is completed in just 9.7 seconds. In this way the mileage can be around 20 KMPL.
