Suzuki unveiled the Vision e-Sky BEV concept at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, hinting at an affordable and compact electric vehicle from Maruti Suzuki in India.

New Delhi. Japan's Suzuki Motor Corporation has showcased the Vision e-Sky BEV concept ahead of its debut on October 30 at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. Through this concept, the company has presented a glimpse of an economical and compact futuristic electric vehicle. Many people in India are wondering whether this platform could be the next generation Wagon-R EV.

Maruti's first EV

The launch of the e Vitara in India is expected by the end of 2025, and industry experts believe that Maruti Suzuki is looking to launch more affordable electric vehicles to gradually and stably capture the EV market. Rival companies like Tata Motors and MG are already selling entry-level electric hatchbacks in India, so Maruti's next EV could target the entry-level segment. The e-Sky BEV concept may give us a glimpse of what to expect.

Is Suzuki e-Sky Wagon-R an EV?
The Vision e-Sky is a born-EV concept with the familiar tall-boy styling, giving a hint of headroom for passengers – the hallmark of the Wagon-R. It has a flat nose and tail with short overhangs, maximizing interior space within its compact footprint.

Dimensions
In terms of dimensions, it measures 3,395 mm in length, 1,475 mm in width and 1,625 mm in height. It is taller than the current Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, but has a slightly smaller length and width, which falls in line with Japanese kei car regulations and hints at a hyper local compact EV for the Indian market.

Styling Highlights
Talking about styling, it includes a futuristic front fascia with multi-array LED light bar, C-shaped DRL and aero-friendly wheels. The exterior features a modern dual-tone color scheme with a white roof and a 'floating' C-pillar.

In a market where most public charger still has one or two sections tucking inside a mall or office complex, which matters on a scale. This means that less queues and less concerns for owners are wondering if they will be able to plug when they arrive.

Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power, stated that strategically located and fully operated by renewable energy, the new hub aims to set a benchmark for the EV infrastructure ready for the future. Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle Limited said, “The inauguration of this Tata.

More than just one Tata playing

Chargers are open to all EVs, although Tata.EV owners get allowances like concessional rates and priority access. This dual approach highlights the balance act for Tata. It dominates the Indian EV market, but also knows that the infection for electricity cannot be a wall garden.

Building large network

For Tata Power, this hub connects more than a thousand charging points already scattered in Mumbai, and more than 5,500 nations. The company's roadmap is ambitious, a target for 7.5 lakh domestic chargers and 10,000 public charging points by 2030. Tata Motors, meanwhile, dominates India's EV sales chart, but knows that its future growth depends on the infrastructure with vehicles on the road.

why it matters

Airports occur frequently where a city puts its best legs ahead. By choosing this place, Tata is making a statement about visibility as utility. The 16-bail hub is a small dent in the huge transport landscape of Mumbai, but if it is repeated in other high-density areas, it may begin to reduce very real concerns around the range and charging access.

Hyundai dropped the first teaser of a new concept model for debut at IAA Mobility Show 2025 in Munich, Germany on 9 September 2025. While the details are fully wrapped, the concept is expected to enter the production of the IONIQ 2 nameplate. The upcoming Hyundai IonIQ 2 Compact EV was first tested in July 2025, which was ready for production.

Teaser images reveal a design that recently persists to the IONIQ 6 facelift, with the upcoming model bearing smooth, with LED strips connected to the headlights and tail lamps. While the IONIQ cars typically embrace a crossover shape, the IonIQ 2 will feature a hatchback silhouette with a fastback-style rear end, which is rounded by an integrated dutby spiler.

Images perform large air interactions on front bumper, a major nose design and flared-out fender. The overall size appears to be similar to the camouflage prototype, but the concept will debut with a separate set of a bodykit and wheels.

Hyundai Ioniq 2: Expected Battery & Range

Hyundai Eonic 2
Hyundai Ioniq 2 has been first observed under heavy camouflage that reveals a production body (Autoevolution/Sh Proshots)

Hyundai Ioniq 2 is being developed in association with Kia EV2, in which two models share many features and components. Compact EV can be outlined by a low-level, front-wheel drive version of the eV-only e-GMP platform, similar to the 400V architecture that reduces the large Kia EV3. While Kia sells its crossover with 58.3 kwh and 81.4 kWh options, IonIQ 2 is expected to be limited to a small unit. An FWD Drivetrain with a small battery will allow Hyundai to adapt the cost in its effort to make mass-market EV.

When it comes to the limit, EV3 currently offers a single-charge of up to 605 km with its largest battery pack, excluding the torque of 201 BHP and 283 Nm. IonIQ 2 is expected to be slightly less than that, while still bringing decent figures for urban traffic.

Currently, there is no official term on whether Hyundai Ionic 2 will be launched in the Indian market, but compact EV can be well suited for our shines. The company is committed to expanding its electric range on our shores, recently launched IONIQ 5 and Creta Electric. Ioniq 2 can be an ideal contender in compact EV space with its practical design and features.

India-UK Trade Deal: When will electric cars be cheaper? Go here full details
New Delhi. India has given import duty exemption to UK auto exporters only on large petrol and diesel trains and expensive electric vehicles, while small and mid -size cars and low -priced EVs are preserved under bilateral trade agreement. That is, there will be no discount in import duty on them. This also means that FTA will not have any effect on their price.

No discount for 5 years
No concession has been given to electric, hybrid or hydrogen-guard vehicles for the first 5 years of the agreement. That is, by 2030, there will be no discount on electric cars, hybrids or green fuel vehicles. However, no budget cars are currently imported from the UK. But in this time frame, if such models are brought to India from the UK in the future, then they will not get a discount on import duty.

These models will not get concession

Under the agreement, India has offered the UK phased and quota-based Libelai in the automobile sector, limited to Complete Built Units (CBU). These include petrol-diesel vehicles and green fuel vehicles such as electric, hybrid and hydrogen-retarded models, however, in the initial stages, green fuel vehicles such as electric, hybrid and hydrogen -ward -ward models are out of this concession.

Rebate will be given after 5 years
There will be tax exemption from the sixth year of the electric vehicles agreement., And even then it will be only for luxury models that cost more than £ 80,000. Vehicles priced less than £ 40,000, mostly mass-market EVs, are deliberately excluded from the tax release. Let us tell you that recently the free trade agrected between India and the UK has been signed, so that import duty will be reduced on many goods to be exported between the two, not only the car.

According to the official records from the city's 4 regional transport office, 5,925 EV units were registered against diesel, while 5,897 units were registered for diesel vehicles. This is the first time that despite facing many challenges such as low charging network, long waiting periods and range concerns, the number of EVs in Kolkata has increased more than diesel -powered vehicles.

As you know, the public transport and commercial fleet of the city used to run almost completely on diesel fuel. This change towards EV reflects changes in people's mindset and more and more people are choosing clean mobility solutions instead of diesel, which is considered harmful to the environment.

Diesel pollution
Diesel fuel consists of 24 carcinogenic agents and therefore, it has long been contributed to people's health and increase air pollution. According to Kolkata government data, the sale of electric vehicles increased from 3,628 units in 2023 to 5,925 units in 2024. In 2022, this number in Kolkata was less than half of 2,197 units. Diesel vehicle registration declined from 5,994 units to 5,897 units in 2023. However, with the sale of 75,862 units last year, petrol -powered cars remained the top priority of customers.

Government gives tax exemption
One of the most important reasons behind the growth in EV's sale was a subsidy from the West Bengal State Government, including registration charge, road tax and exemption on the purchase of electric two-wheelers and four-wheeler models.
