Read these 5 important tips before going out with your car in the rain, you will be saved from damage.

As comfortable as driving in monsoon may seem, it can also be equally risky. Wet roads, low visibility and waterlogging can turn a small mistake into a major accident. If you want to keep your car and family safe in the rain, then definitely know these 5 easy but very important driving tips. This advice can prove useful for every driver.

Follow these 5 tips while driving a car in monsoon.

Monsoon season brings both relief and challenges to India. Heavy rain, waterlogging, slippery roads and low visibility make driving risky. Road accidents increase every year as wet roads increase braking distance, create the risk of hydroplaning and affect visibility. It is important to be careful in this season, because small carelessness can cause a big accident.

By good preparation of the vehicle, slow speed and vigilance, you can keep yourself and others safe. According to experts, the vehicle should be checked regularly before driving in monsoon. Avoid sudden braking, taking sharp turns or going to flooded areas during rains. Stay focused on the road, do not use mobile and check the weather forecast. In this article, we have brought top 5 tips, which will keep your car safe in the rain.

1. Check the vehicle beforehand

Before the onset of monsoon, get the grip of tyres, brake pads, wiper blades and all lights checked. Worn tires are a major reason for loss of control on wet roads. If the wipers are not working properly then nothing can be seen ahead in the rain. Also keep extra emergency kit like flashlight, first aid box and tools in the car. Regular servicing increases the reliability of the car.

2. Keep speed control

In heavy rain, always drive at half the normal speed. Braking distance doubles on wet roads and the risk of hydroplaning increases. Avoid fast speed, especially on turns and bridges. Slow driving results in better control of the vehicle and reduces the chances of an accident.

3. Maintain a safe distance

Keep a distance of at least 4-6 seconds from the vehicle moving ahead. Due to low visibility in rain and slippery road, extra space is necessary to avoid collision in case of sudden braking. Be more cautious especially while walking behind a truck or bus.

4. Use headlights and wipers correctly

Always keep low beam headlights on in the rain, so that you can easily see other vehicles. Do not use high beam because due to this the light does not fall completely on the water drops. Run wipers and defoggers regularly to keep the windshield clean and visibility maintained.

5. Avoid flooded areas completely

If you see water on the road, do not try to cross it, especially if the water reaches the floorboard of the vehicle. Avoid sudden turns, overtaking or non-essential trips. Check weather updates and do not leave the house if not necessary. If the vehicle gets stuck, do not panic, call help. By adopting these tips you can ensure safe driving in monsoon.

Volkswagen may sell its stake in India! Partnership plan with this company

Last Updated:

Volkswagen AG is in talks with JSW Group to sell stake in its subsidiary Skoda Auto Volkswagen India in India. If this deal happens then a big change can be seen in the Indian auto industry. This partnership can give JSW access to Volkswagen's global technology and platforms, while the German company will get a new way to expand in India. Know what has come to light so far.

Volkswagen may soon partner with JSW.

Volkswagen AG is in discussions with JSW Group to sell stake in its subsidiary in India, Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Pvt Ltd. To establish a strong presence in the world's third largest automobile market, the German car maker is looking for a local partner, in which JSW seems to be more interested.

With this deal, Volkswagen's years-long search for a local partner will be completed. JSW Group will get access to Volkswagen's vehicle platforms, while Volkswagen will get the opportunity to expand in the market. Top officials of both the companies have met recently, but valuation, capital investment and other issues are yet to be discussed. The deal may be finalized in the next few weeks. Let's take a look at the developments so far.

vw's plan

Volkswagen has been present in India for more than two decades, but has managed to capture only 2.5% market share across all its brands including Skoda, VW and Audi. The company had set a target of 5% share by 2030. Talks with JSW began three years ago, initially focusing on manufacturing plants (Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar).

where is the problem coming from

Volkswagen is struggling with the challenges of turnaround at the global level. The Indian unit has increased profits in the financial year ending March 2025, but the parent company is hesitant to invest further without a local partner. In this sequence, it reduced the investment on new EV platform in India from $1 billion to $700 million.

Benefits for JSW Group

For JSW Group (Sajjan Jindal), this deal can become the basis of global cooperation with Volkswagen. The company is already selling MG branded cars through JV with SAIC Motor and is also going to launch JSW branded cars soon.

previous attempts

Volkswagen had earlier held talks with Mahindra & Mahindra, but the deal could not be finalized due to development costs and cultural differences. Compared to the price sensitivity of the Indian market and companies like Maruti, Hyundai, Mahindra, Tata, European companies remain a challenge. Both sides are still trying to resolve many obstacles. If the deal is finalized then it can bring a big change in the Indian auto industry. This news has been developed with inputs from news agency Reuters.

Last Updated:

India has made a big achievement in ethanol blending by implementing E20, but do you know that E100 i.e. pure ethanol is also used in Brazil? How much ethanol is being mixed in petrol in America, Bhutan, Japan, Europe and many other countries? How much ethanol is being available in which country? Know (AI Image)

Bioethanol blending is increasing rapidly around the world to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and to protect the environment. Mixing bioethanol with petrol not only reduces carbon emissions, but also increases the income of farmers and strengthens energy security. Globally, different countries are setting targets for ethanol blending as per their needs, resources and policies. India is doing much better in this field. Currently E20 (20% ethanol mixture) is implemented here and the target of E30 by 2030 has been set.

Brazil is the world leader in this matter, where along with E30, E100 (pure ethanol) is also widely used. America, European Union and many countries of Asia are also taking important steps in this direction. According to recent data, many developing countries are also working towards reaching the level of E10 or above.

India's progress

As a result of sustained efforts by the Government of India, E20 blending has already been implemented. Due to this, dependence on petrol imports has reduced and farmers are getting better prices. The target of reaching E30 by 2030 is a big step towards making the country energy self-reliant. This policy of India is becoming an example at the global level.

Brazil: No. 1 in the world

Brazil is at the forefront in bioethanol blending. Here the use of E100 (pure ethanol) along with E30 is also common. The reason for Brazil's success is its huge sugarcane production capacity and long-standing strong policy. The country has brought a revolution in the energy sector by promoting indigenous fuel in place of fossil fuel.

Situation in America and Europe

In America, blending is done up to E10 and E15 levels. Taking advantage of their agricultural productivity, these countries are promoting ethanol production. E10 is available in 19 member countries of the European Union (EU). E10 has also been implemented in Britain. Europe is achieving blending targets by strictly enforcing environmental standards.

Asia and other regions

Japan has set a target of E10 by 2030 and E20 by 2040. E10 is already implemented in Nepal. In Thailand, Philippines and Vietnam also policies are being made at E10 level or above. Indonesia allows E3 in gasoline imports.

In Latin America, Colombia, Uruguay, Peru, Argentina and Paraguay are blending at different levels (E7.8 to E30). African countries such as Nigeria, Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi also have E10 or E20 targets. In Canada, blending ranges from E5 to E12 depending on the provinces.

There has also been no increase in the prices of XUV 3XO EV, BE 6 and XEV 9e.

advice for customers

For customers who have booked or taken delivery before July 10, the old prices will be applicable. New buyers may have to face additional expenses. Despite Mahindra's strong sales momentum (Scorpio, Thar, XUV series), this increase is a necessary step to save margins. If you want to buy a Mahindra vehicle, then check the updated price from the dealership before making the deal.

Petrol Types in India

Petrol Types in India: The Indian auto market is going through a major fuel transition, where traditional fossil fuels have been rapidly replaced by ethanol-blended fuels. To reduce pollution and reduce dependence on crude oil imports, the government has started selling many types of petrol options in the country. Today, a total of 5 petrol options are being sold in the Indian market ranging from normal octane rating to high-performance and flex-fuel categories.

Depending on the engine of your vehicle, its capacity and your responsibility towards the environment, these fuels have been kept in different categories and their prices also vary widely. Come, let us know about all the types of petrol available in India from E20 to E85. What kind of vehicles are these for and what is their current price? Will know this also.

1. Regular Petrol (E20 – 91 Octane)

This is the most selling normal petrol in India, which is used in every common bike, scooter and car. Now this fuel is available with 20% ethanol mixture i.e. E20 standard at all the petrol pumps of the country. This petrol with 91 octane rating is the cheapest and practical option for daily city driving and eco-friendly travel. Its price in Delhi is currently ₹ 102.12/litre.

2. Premium Petrol (E20 – 95 Octane)

Indian Oil's XP95 and Hindustan Petroleum's Power Petrol come in this category. This is also based on E20 standard (20% ethanol), but its octane rating is 95. It contains special detergent additives which keep the engine valves clean. It gives excellent mileage and smooth performance for modern turbo-petrol cars and premium scooters. Its price in Delhi is currently ₹ 109.24/litre.

3. Super-Premium Petrol (0% Ethanol – 100 Octane)

Indian Oil's XP100 is the biggest example of this category. This is the only petrol in India, which is completely ethanol-free (0% Ethanol) and its octane rating is 100. This fuel is very expensive and is specially designed for supercars, racing bikes and vintage cars, so that their engines can get maximum power. Its price in Delhi is currently ₹ 170/litre.

4. E85 Petrol (Flex-Fuel)

At present it is being looked at from the perspective of future fuel. E85 petrol is introduced only for flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs). It contains up to 85% ethanol and only 15% petrol. Toyota, Maruti and Hero MotoCorp have launched some models running on E85 in the market. It is very safe for the environment and much cheaper than regular petrol, but it can only be put in vehicles with flex-fuel engines. Its price in Delhi is currently ₹ 82.12/litre.

5. E100 (Pure Ethanol Fuel)

With the cooperation of the Union Transport Ministry, E100 i.e. 100% pure ethanol fuel has also got the green signal in India. It is a biofuel made entirely from sugarcane, corn and agricultural waste, which does not contain even a drop of petrol. It is currently being used in select pilot projects and specially designed flex-fuel bikes and cars. Its price has not been made public yet.

British PM Starmer's visit to promote auto industry. here's why…

  • UK-India trade deal cuts tariffs, boosts auto and defense cooperation, boosts £1.3 billion Indian investment in Britain, and targets £25.5 billion trade growth by 2040.

The recently signed UK-India trade agreement is set to reshape bilateral economic relations in the automotive and defense sectors. During his two-day visit to India, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, hailed the agreement as a foundation for deeper commercial cooperation between the two countries.

Preferred Source Banner
Preferred Source Banner

The agreement, signed in July 2025, aims to cut tariffs on key goods including textiles, whiskey and automobiles. It also provides greater market access for businesses in both countries and is expected to increase trade by £25.5 billion (approximately) 3,025 billion pounds by 2040. Within just three months of signing, trade and investment between India and the UK has already increased by £6 billion (approx.) 711 billion), reflecting an early surge in confidence among industries.

Impact on automotive sector

The reduction in tariffs on cars is expected to be a game-changer for the automotive industry in both countries. For Indian automakers, the deal provides easier access to the UK market, opening the door for brands like Tata Motors, Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki to expand exports of electric and small cars. This supports India's goal of becoming a global EV manufacturing hub, aligning with “Make in India” and green mobility initiatives.

For British carmakers, lower import duties will make luxury brands like Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin and Bentley more competitive in India. With tariffs on high-end vehicles reduced, Indian consumers may see more affordable luxury car prices in the coming years. It could also encourage joint research and development in clean mobility solutions, as both countries emphasize sustainability and innovation in transportation.

New investment commitments

UK confirms 64 Indian companies will collectively invest £1.3 billion ( 153.4 billion in the UK across all sectors including automotive manufacturing, clean energy and tech startups). “This is just the beginning. This is the time to invest in the United Kingdom, to invest in this relationship and to invest in our shared future,” Starmer said while addressing business leaders at the India-UK CEO Forum.

Political context and perspective

Despite occasional differences over geopolitical issues such as the Russia–Ukraine conflict, both governments stressed that their economic partnership remains strong. PM Modi emphasized the “unique synergy” between India's growth dynamism and the UK's expertise, while Starmer reaffirmed his commitment to operationalizing the trade deal within a year. For India, the deal not only boosts trade but also strengthens its quest for industrial modernisation, self-reliance and global competitiveness in key sectors such as automotive, defense and clean energy.
