Tata Sierra, Maruti E Vitara, Kia Seltos and Renault Duster are going to be launched soon in the midsize SUV segment with new technology and design. Tata Sierra has been taking the market by storm since its launch. From its look to its features and price, there is constant discussion in the market. Now many SUVs are going to hit the market to compete with it.

New Delhi. Tata Sierra has created a huge buzz among auto lovers. This SUV is coming to give tough competition to the segment leader Hyundai Creta and other midsize SUVs. Two big products are going to be launched in this segment soon – Maruti E Vitara, next-gen Kia Seltos and new-gen Renault Duster. Both these SUVs will be in direct competition with the upcoming Tata Sierra. Tata will also launch many more variants of Tata Sierra in the coming time. Let us know what is special in these three.

Maruti E Vitara
Maruti E Vitara will hit the showrooms on 2nd December 2025 (i.e. today) and its official price will also be announced on the same day. It is a 5-seater electric SUV, which will target the Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE6 and the upcoming Tata Sierra EV (which will arrive in early 2026). E Vitara will have 49kWh and 61kWh battery options, which will come with electric motor. The dual motor and all-wheel drive setup will be reserved for the larger battery variant. Maruti Suzuki claims that the E Vitara will give a driving range of more than 500 km.

new kia seltos
The second generation Kia Seltos will be launched on December 10, 2025. It will get the company's new design language and more premium interior. New headlamps and tail lamps, changed front bumper and newly designed alloy wheels are shown in the official teaser. The new Seltos will be longer and wider than the current model, which will provide more space in the cabin. Talking about the features, it will get panoramic sunroof, new seat upholstery and trims, redesigned dashboard and control panel. Mechanically, there will be no changes in the 2026 Kia Seltos.

new reno duster
The third generation Renault Duster will be launched in India on 26 January 2026. Its design and styling will be more mature and modern than before. Most of its design elements have been taken from the global-spec Dacia Bigster, which includes the new grille, Renault's signature logo, new headlamps, Y-shaped LED DRLs, new alloy wheels, rear door handle on the C-pillar and Y-shaped tail lamps. The 2026 Renault Duster will come only with petrol engines, in which 1.0 liter turbo and 1.3 liter turbo engines can probably be found.

New Kia Seltos is going to be launched in 10 days, official countdown has started

New Kia Seltos is going to be launched in 10 days, official countdown has started

New Delhi. December 2025 is going to be very interesting for the Indian automobile market. While Maruti is preparing to launch its first electric car, Kia is also going to update its Seltos SUV. Kia has started the official countdown for one of its most important global launches, the new second-generation Kia Seltos. The company has shared the first teaser image on its social media channels, which shows a glimpse of the updated design of the SUV. Its world premiere is going to happen on 10th December. These teasers make it clear that what was revealed in the recent spy shots is correct: the 2026 Seltos will be bigger, sharper and more premium than before.

boulder design
The teaser images reveal several key styling elements, such as redesigned LED headlights with Kia's new signature lights, a more sculpted bonnet and a cleaner, more upright body profile. The tail-lamp cluster has a new geometric layout and connected light bar, while the bumpers look more muscular than before. Roof rails, square wheel arches and new alloy wheels point towards the strong stance of the SUV. The entire vehicle has not been revealed in the teaser, but it is clear that its design is more mature and global than the current generation. This also matches with the spy shots released in India and Korea, which showed the new Seltos with flat body panels, a boxy silhouette and new detailing at the front and rear.

Large dimensions and spacious cabin
According to the internal SP3i codename and development leaks, the next-gen Seltos may increase in length and width. The current Seltos measures 4,365 mm in length and 1,800 mm in width, and the new model may exceed these figures, resulting in better legroom and shoulder space. Big changes are expected inside the cabin also. New dashboard layout, new upholstery and more features can be found in 2026 Seltos. The biggest change could be the curved twin-screen setup — as seen in new Kia and Hyundai models — with two 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment system and digital cluster.

New transmission and hybrid option expected
Engine options for India remain the same – 1.5-litre NA petrol, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. However, a new 7-speed automatic transmission is expected for the diesel, which will replace the old 6AT. Globally, the 2026 Seltos will also come with a hybrid powertrain with an electric motor along with a 1.6-litre petrol engine, which will produce around 141 hp and 265 Nm of power. Whether this hybrid option will come to India or not remains to be seen, but Kia is keeping an eye on this fast-growing segment.

Possibility of safety upgrades
Kia can also improve the ADAS features in the new Seltos. The current model has Level 2 ADAS features, and the facelift may bring better sensors, updated software and more features. Given the increasing focus on safety in the segment — especially with rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Grand Vitara, Hyrider, Elevate, Taigun, Kushaq and the upcoming Tata Sierra — Kia could further strengthen its safety offering.

India launch timeline
While the global and India premiere will take place on December 10, the India launch is expected to take place in early 2026. Test mules have been seen during testing across the country, which shows that localization and pre-production validation is going on at a fast pace. The new Seltos will continue to compete in India's most competitive SUV segment — and from these teasers it is clear that Kia is preparing a more advanced, more stylish and more premium SUV for its next generation.

Just wait a little! Kia Seltos will be launched in India in a new avatar

Just wait a little! Kia Seltos will be launched in India in a new avatar

New Delhi. Kia will globally introduce the second-generation Seltos in South Korea and India in early December, which will be an entirely new model for one of its most important SUVs. The new Seltos is coming after 6 years, when its first version was launched globally in India. It will get a completely new exterior, new cabin and updated engine. However, buyers interested in the stronger hybrid version will have to wait a bit, as this variant is expected to be launched about a year after the petrol and diesel models.

More competition in compact SUV segment
By then, the new Seltos will face more competition in the compact SUV segment, which will also include new rivals like the next-gen Renault Duster and the Nissan Tekton.

big and boxy design
Inspired by the Kia SUV, spy shots and teasers suggest that the second-gen Seltos will adopt a more upright and boxy stance than the current model. Its design is inspired by Kia's big SUVs like Telluride and EV9, which will have sharp lines, vertical LED daytime running lamps and connected light bars at the front and rear.

Redesigned bumpers
A new grille pattern, updated alloy wheel design and changed mirror housings complete its look. The new Seltos looks larger in size than the existing car, which can make the cabin more spacious and the boot space more useful.

New cabin layout and more features
Talking about the inside, the new Seltos will bring a big change in terms of design and quality. The dashboard will now have a more modern layout, with a large curved display that combines the digital instrument cluster and the touchscreen infotainment system, as seen in Kia's new models. Material quality and cabin insulation are expected to be better, which will increase refinement. The seats will also be more comfortable for long drives. Connectivity and safety features will also increase, although complete information about equipment, ADAS features and variant-wise features will be available only at the official launch.

Engine and Power
First the old engine, later the strong hybrid. At the time of launch, the second gen Seltos will only have the existing engine options. Buyers will get a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (115 PS and 144 Nm), a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Manual gearboxes and several automatic options will also continue across different trims.

powertrain
The biggest change to the powertrain line-up will be the addition of a strong hybrid, but that will come later. In this, a 1.5-liter petrol engine will be combined with an electric motor. According to reports, its combined output will be around 141 PS and 265 Nm, as is found in other hybrid models of Kia. Electric all-wheel drive system may also be available in some markets, but its chances are less in India.

price
Prices may increase compared to the current model, which currently ranges from Rs 10.79 lakh to Rs 19.80 lakh (ex-showroom). Prices for the top-spec variants may go up due to the larger body, upgraded safety kit and hybrid technology, while Kia will try to keep the base petrol trims affordable to maintain volumes. The new Seltos will have to work harder than its older version, because now more options and frequent updates are coming in this segment. The two-stage rollout, with the standard version coming first and the hybrid later, will help Kia retain customer interest in the long run and improve its positioning against its rivals. Currently, the focus is on the global and local debut in early December, which will give the first official glimpse of the SUV, which will replace one of Kia's most successful models.

Kia Sonet zooms past 4 lakh sales milestone in less than 4 years

  • Kia Sonet is offered in three engine options. There is a naturally aspirated petrol engine, a turbocharged petrol engine and a diesel engine.
Kia Sonet 2024 facelift SUV comes with host of updates that includes a new exterior look, an updated interior and features galore. The biggest bragging right now is the introduction of ADAS technology, a first in the sub-compact SUV segment.

Kia India has announced that the Sonet has received a significant milestone of surpassing 4 lakh sales figures in under 44 months. It is important to note that these sales figures include domestic and overseas markets. The Sonet commands 33.3 per cent overall sales with 3,17,754 units sold domestically and 85,814 units exported. The updated Sonet was launched in India in January 2024. The price

In 44 months since launch, 63 per cent of customers prefer Sonet variants equipped with a sunroof. Regarding engine preference, Sonet’s 1.5-litre diesel engine is preferred by 37% of its customers which is quite surprising as the market for diesel engines is slowly dying. 63 per cent of customers prefer petrol engine options. Kia has also observed a consumer shift towards automatic variants. This is probably because of the increasing traffic that our cities are facing. The 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission in Sonet has gained traction, growing by 37.50 per cent since 2020. While automatic transmissions (7DCT & 6AT) contribute 28 per cent, the iMT has a steady fanbase with a 23 per cent sales contribution to Sonet. In the iMT gearbox, the driver needs to change the gears but doesn’t have to engage or disengage the clutch pedal.

The price hike will affect Kia’s mass market models including the Seltos, Sonet and Carens. The increment will vary on the model and variant

Kia India has announced its plans to increase prices across its mass model range with effect from April 1, 2024. The Kia Sonet, Carens and Seltos prices will be hiked by up to three per cent from next month onwards. The automaker said that the decision was made due to the rising commodity prices and supply-chain-related inputs. Kia also emphasised that this was the brand’s first price adjustment this year.

Kia has not revealed the quantum of the price hike on each of the models but you can expect prices to vary depending on the model and variant. The Kia Sonet is the brand’s most accessible offering starting from 7.99 lakh, and going up to 14.69 lakh. The Kia Carens MPV is priced from 10.45 lakh, going up to 18.95 lakh. Commenting on the price adjustment, Hardeep Singh Brar, National Head – Sales and Marketing – Kia India said, “At Kia, we consistently strive to deliver premium and technologically advanced products to our esteemed customers. However, due to the continuous increase in commodity prices, adverse exchange rate and rising input cost, we are compelled to implement a partial price hike. The company is absorbing a significant portion of the increase, allowing customers to continue driving their favourite Kia cars without a major dent in their pockets.”

Kia is one of the most prominent players in the Indian auto sector, having made a remarkable climb on the sales chart since its arrival in 2019. All-new Kia Sonet facelift unveiled, India launch scheduled for 2024

All-new Kia Sonet facelift unveiled, India launch scheduled for 2024

The updated Kia Sonet was officially unveiled to the world at an event in New Delhi on Thursday. The latest Sonet gets some very significant changes to its exterior design styling while now also boasting of ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistance System. To launch in India in the first quarter of calendar year 2024 and the bookings start on 20th December. The Kia Sonet will look to intensify its rivalry against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Hyundai Venue, both of which were updated in 2022. It will also take on segment leaders Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.

The updated Kia Sonet has received key styling updates on the outside and now comes with ADAS. There is, however, no change to the overall dimensions and mechanics of the model.

View all Images

The Sonet remains an extremely crucial model in the Kia India lineup and was the third launch here from the Koreans, after Seltos in 2019 and Carnival MPV in 2020. While the Seltos received a significant update earlier this year, the Sonet was beginning to look jaded. But not anymore.

While the Sonet sells in very respectable numbers in the domestic Indian car market, it is also exported to select countries from the company plant in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur. On obvious lines, the updated Sonet will also roll out from this same facility.

Kia Sonet: Key design updates

The Kia Sonet is a sub-four meter SUV from the Korean brand and sits below the Seltos SUV in the product pyramid. That said, exterior styling has been as crucial for the Sonet as it has for the Seltos. The updated Sonet continues to sport the Kia signature Tiger Nose grille but the DRL placement and design has been tweaked slightly. The headlight units and the front bumper have been refreshed as well.

Watch: Kia Sonet facelift SUV first look

At the back of the latest Sonet, there is now an LED light bar that connects the two tail lights. The design of these tail lights has been refreshed as well and is now visually closer to the lights at the back of the updated Seltos and the Carens MPV. On the side, the alloy design on the 16-inch wheels too has been reworked.

Kia Sonet: Colour options

The new Kia Sonet is available in eight single-tone colour options, two dual-tone hues and a matte shade that is exclusively for the X Line. The monotone colour choices are Olive, White, Silver, Grey, Black, Red, Blue and Clear White. The dual-tone hues are Red with a Black roof and White with a Black roof.

Kia Sonet: Key cabin highlights and features

Sonet has always been one of the most densely packed SUV models in terms of features. The model boasts of a 10.25-inch main touchscreen display and another 10.25-inch LCD driver display unit. It also gets a 360-degree camera, smart air purification system, a seven-speaker Bose sound system, electric sunroof and Kia Connect Skill with Amazon Alexa.

A closer look at the dashboard layout inside the updated Kia Sonet. The car now comes with over 70 connected features while also sporting a 360-degree cam view car location function.

Depending on the trim selected, the cabin colour and seat pattern would differ. The X Line gets Sage Green Leatherette seats with all-black interiors. The GT Line sports Black Leatherette seats with all Black interiors and White inserts. The Tech Line gets Black and Brown Leatherette seats as well as Black and Beige semi-leatherette seats.

Since there is no change in the overall dimensions of the new Kia Sonet, the cabin space in both rows, as well as the boot space, remains the same.

Kia Sonet: Dimensions (in mm)

Length 3,995
Width 1,790
Height 1,647
Wheelbase 2,500

The biggest bragging right however comes from the addition of ADAS and the Sonet now comes with Forward Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, and Lane Keep Assist.

Kia Sonet: Engine and key specifications

There is no change in the mechanics of the updated Kia Sonet. The Sonet continues to come with two petrol engine options and a diesel motor. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor offers 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque. The 1.2-litre petrol motor puts out 81 bhp and 115 Nm of torque while the 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine develops 113 bhp and offers 250 Nm of torque.

The Kia Sonet facelift continues to come with a five-speed manual gearbox, six-speed manual gearbox, six-speed automatic transmission, six-speed iMT and seven-speed DCT unit.
