600 KM range and ADAS! This 7-seater EV will make a big entry in the market

Tata Motors is rapidly strengthening its electric vehicle (EV) line-up. Recently the first test mule of Tata Safari EV has been spotted on Indian roads. This will be Tata's first 7-seater electric SUV, which will be built on the Acti.EV+ platform along with Harrier EV. Despite being highly camouflaged, the test car showed no exhaust pipes, despite housing the electric motor on the rear axle.

This model will have the same body shell as the petrol engined Safari, which will include connected taillights and roofline. The launch is expected to happen around the festive season 2026. Safari EV will compete with 7-seater EVs like Mahindra XEV9. This premium family can become the country's first proper three-row SUV in the EV segment. Long range and luxury features with AWD option will make it attractive. Let's take a look at its possible design, battery, motor and range details.

possible design

The design of Safari EV will be very similar to the ICE model. Closed-off grille, EV-specific badging, aero-optimized alloy wheels and revised bumpers will be the major changes. Luxury elements like 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 10.25-inch digital driver display, panoramic sunroof and ventilated front-rear seats will be provided. After petrol, now Tata Sierra will come in EV avatar, will get 500KM range in single charge

New Delhi. When Tata Sierra EV is launched in early 2026, its battery technology and range will be its biggest features. This electric SUV is expected to share its battery architecture with the Tata Harrier EV and its larger battery pack will give a real-world driving range of over 500 km on a single charge. Along with DC fast charging, it will also have the facility of bi-directional charging.

Tata will bring 3 new EVs
The brand has already confirmed three EV launches for 2026, including the Punch EV facelift and the first production model based on the Avinya platform. Positioned above the Curve EV, the Sierra EV will target customers looking for a premium midsize five-seater. Its design will be inspired by the original Sierra and its latest ICE version.

cool interior
Talking about the interior, Tata is preparing to make Sierra EV the most advanced digital car till date. The dashboard will get a triple-screen setup, which will include a large digital instrument cluster, central infotainment touchscreen and a separate display for the passenger side. Many features will be provided in it from the base variant itself.

Loaded with smart features
Features like Level 2 ADAS, connected car technology, dual-zone climate control, powered front seats, ambient lighting and premium audio system can be found in its top variants. Panoramic glass roof and upgraded interior materials can also be provided. The design of Sierra EV will remain as boxy and tall as before, but it will see many EV specific styling updates.

Apart from this, there will also be features like square wheel arches, muscular shoulder line, smart door handles, new alloy wheel design, connected LED light strip at the rear. Get ready! Tata Sierra EV is coming, seen for the first time during testing

Get ready! Tata Sierra EV is coming, seen for the first time during testing

New Delhi. Tata Motors recently launched the much-awaited Sierra SUV in India, with prices starting at Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Taking this momentum forward, the company is now preparing to launch its electric version, Tata Sierra EV. The test mule of Sierra EV has been seen on Indian roads, giving customers a glimpse of it. The spy shots show several mechanical upgrades and design changes, which make it different from its petrol-diesel variants. This is Tata's next big step towards sustainable mobility.

Tata Sierra EV
Battery pack options in Tata Sierra EV can be taken from Harrier EV, in which 65kWh and 75kWh configurations can be found. It is likely to come in both two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive variants, as seen in the Harrier EV. However, Tata may keep the power figures of the Sierra EV slightly lower than its elder brother, so that the difference between the two products remains clear. This will also improve efficiency and priority will be given to driving range. These changes clearly reflect Tata's strategy, in which the balance between capability, practicality and right place in the portfolio has been maintained.

Spy shots surfaced
Recent spy shots of the Tata Sierra EV confirm its electric identity, with the absence of an exhaust pipe clearly highlighting the change in powertrain. The most important thing is that according to media reports, Sierra EV will get independent rear suspension setup, which is much better than the beam axle arrangement commonly found in this segment. This advanced suspension is not only expensive but also provides many benefits. This reduces body roll during cornering and improves wheel articulation on rough roads, thereby increasing stability, comfort and capability. This makes Sierra EV a more advanced and versatile SUV.

Independent rear suspension
Tata Motors' introduction of independent rear suspension in the Sierra EV represents a departure from the affordable standards of the mid-size SUV segment. While most rivals rely on simple and cheap setups, this advanced design improves driving dynamics and comfort. With this, Sierra EV can be presented as a premium product, due to which its price can be higher in Tata's electric portfolio.

Interior Specifications
Although Tata Motors has not confirmed the interior specifications of the Sierra EV, the SUV is expected to get several cosmetic and functional upgrades in line with the brand's electric portfolio. This may include better connectivity through the Arcade.ev app suite, closed-off grille for aerodynamics, special .ev badging and aero-optimized alloy wheels to reduce drag. Apart from this, the Tata Sierra EV can also be given a digital interior rear-view mirror, as is found in the Harrier EV, in which the rear-mounted camera provides a clear and unobstructed view.
