600 KM range and ADAS! This 7-seater EV will make a big entry in the market

Tata Motors is rapidly strengthening its electric vehicle (EV) line-up. Recently the first test mule of Tata Safari EV has been spotted on Indian roads. This will be Tata's first 7-seater electric SUV, which will be built on the Acti.EV+ platform along with Harrier EV. Despite being highly camouflaged, the test car showed no exhaust pipes, despite housing the electric motor on the rear axle.

This model will have the same body shell as the petrol engined Safari, which will include connected taillights and roofline. The launch is expected to happen around the festive season 2026. Safari EV will compete with 7-seater EVs like Mahindra XEV9. This premium family can become the country's first proper three-row SUV in the EV segment. Long range and luxury features with AWD option will make it attractive. Let's take a look at its possible design, battery, motor and range details.

possible design

The design of Safari EV will be very similar to the ICE model. Closed-off grille, EV-specific badging, aero-optimized alloy wheels and revised bumpers will be the major changes. New color options can also be available. From the spy shots it seems that it will keep the same rear suspension setup as the Harrier EV.

Cabin and Comfort

No major changes are expected in the interior. The dual-tone theme, high-quality materials and 3-row seating will remain intact. Luxury elements like 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 10.25-inch digital driver display, panoramic sunroof and ventilated front-rear seats will be provided. EV-specific updates like new themes and trims can be added.

Features and safety

Safari EV can get advanced features like level-2 ADAS, 540-degree camera, wireless charging (front and rear), OTA updates, auto park assist and summon mode. Expanded terrain modes, V2L/V2V capability and a premium audio system are also possible.

Tata's strong 5-star safety legacy will continue. It will be equipped with 6 airbags standard, ESC, 360-degree camera, ISOFIX and advanced ADAS system. Being an EV, special attention will be paid to battery safety and structural safety.

Battery, Motor and Range

Safari EV can also get 65 kWh and 75 kWh battery options like Harrier EV. RWD and dual-motor AWD configurations will be available. The estimated range is 500-600 KM (MIDC), while in real-world it is likely to be 400-450 KM. Powerful motors will provide good performance and towing capability.
