Maruti Suzuki continued to have a strong hold in the MPV and MUV segments of India in June 2026. Ertiga maintained its dominance in overall sales, while some competing models saw a decline. Maruti's Ertiga and XL6 registered positive growth, while Toyota's Innova declined. Kia Carens Clavis sales were also down compared to last year, but Toyota Rumion surprised with an impressive 67.9% YoY growth.
This segment reflects the demand for vehicles that meet the needs of families, where comfort, space and fuel efficiency are in high demand. According to market experts, the demand for models with hybrid technology and better features is increasing, which will make this segment more competitive in the coming months. Let's take a look at the model wise sales report of the 7-seater MPV segment.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
Maruti Ertiga was the best selling MPV in June 2026, registering sales of 16,111 units. It appeared to be performing strongly with an annual growth of 13.9%. Ertiga is known for its spacious cabin, 7-seater capacity, low maintenance costs and good mileage. This remains the most preferred option among family users. Recent updates have added better infotainment system and safety features, which proved helpful in increasing its popularity. The Ertiga proved that the right mix of budget and practicality still works best in the Indian market.
Toyota Innova
Toyota Innova remained at the second position in June 2026, but its sales were limited to 7,332 units and a decline of 16.7% was recorded on an annual basis. Yet the Innova's reliability, strong engine and premium feel make it a favorite for taxis and families alike. Despite the decline, Toyota's service network and resale value will help the Innova remain in the top segment for a long time.
Kia Carens Clavis
Carens Clavis sold 4,847 units in June 2026, but saw a huge decline of 38.8% year-on-year. Despite attractive design, modern features and good driving dynamics, it lagged behind last year. The Carens Clavis was positioned as a premium family MPV, but it is being challenged by increased competition and few value-for-money options. Kia will now have to make a comeback through new updates and better pricing.
Maruti Suzuki XL6
Maruti XL6 took the fourth position with sales of 2,711 units and registered an impressive 34.8% YoY growth. Based on Ertiga, this 6-seater MPV is attracting family and status conscious buyers with premium looks, captain seats and better features. This model offers a great combination of comfort and style.
Toyota Rumion
Toyota Rumion took the fifth position by selling 2,376 units in June 2026 and registered a most impressive 67.9% year-on-year growth. Despite being a rebadged version of Ertiga, it is becoming increasingly popular due to Toyota's brand value and reliability. The Rumion is a good option for buyers who want the reliability of Toyota.
Apart from the top-5 cars of the segment mentioned above, last month 1,871 units of Renault Triber, 349 units of Maruti Suzuki Invicto, 140 units of Toyota Vellfire and only 30 units of Kia Carnival were sold. Total sales stood at 35,767 units, which shows a decline of 1.2 percent year-on-year.
