The testing prototype of 2026 Maruti Baleno Facelift has recently been spotted on Indian roads. Hiding with camouflage, this prototype shows signs of a new design. This is a mid-life update of the popular premium hatchback, which is expected to be launched around April-May 2026.
Maruti Suzuki is focusing on upgrading the features along with cosmetic changes in this facelift. New tail lamps, sharper front and premium look have been seen in the spy shots. There is an effort to make Baleno more attractive while maintaining the success of the existing model. This update will especially target young buyers and family users. Where balance of style, mileage and features is important. Let us know what updates can be seen in it.
Expected Design
Changes are expected in the 2026 Baleno facelift to make the exterior more sporty and premium. A redesigned grille, sleeker LED headlamps and new LED DRLs can be found at the front, which will give the car a wide and modern look. The side profile will have new alloy wheels and sharp body lines.
Updated LED tail lamps, possibly connected light bar and revised bumper will be seen at the rear. The overall silhouette will remain the same, but improvements in aerodynamics will make the car look more stylish. Some reports also mention a sunroof, which may be available in the top variants. These changes will give Baleno a better competition against competitors like Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz.
interior update
There will be an emphasis on increasing the premium feel in the interior. New dashboard layout, better quality materials and improved seat upholstery will be available. Expect features like a large touchscreen infotainment system (possibly 9 inches or more), digital instrument cluster and wireless charging. The cabin space will remain as roomy as before, but better insulation and comfort will make long drives easier. AC vents and USB Type-C charging ports may be standard for rear seat passengers. Overall, the interior will become more modern and user-friendly, which is perfect for family use.
Features and safety
Many upgrades are possible in the feature list. Advanced features like SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, voice assist, connected car tech, 360 degree camera and head-up display (HUD) can come in the top variants. Automatic climate control, keyless entry, push button start and multifunction steering wheel will already be available. Some reports also mention ventilated seats and large touchscreen. These features will make Baleno the most value for money in the segment.
Improvement in safety will be a big highlight. 6 airbags will be standard in all its variants. Features like ESP, Hill Hold Assist, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child seat anchorage are stronger than before. The facelift may add a 360-degree camera, better structural safety (on the Heartect platform) and possibly some ADAS features (entry level).
Engine and Mileage
No major changes are expected in the engine setup. The existing 1.2 liter K-series Dual Jet Dual VVT petrol engine (about 89 PS power and 113 Nm torque) may continue. It will be available with 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. Some reports also talk about a strong hybrid variant, which may come at a later stage in 2026 and the mileage may be increased by 25-30 kmpl.
