New Delhi. Hyundai Creta is a very popular compact SUV in India. The speed with which its sale is being done can cross the annual cell of 2,00,000 units in the careta 2025 calendar year (CY). However, there is a model that can prevent this popular SUV from getting the number 1 spot in the sales chart, and that is Maruti Suzuki WagonR.

Wagon R's strong cell
WagonR is the best-selling car in India with the sale of 88,494 units in 2025 (January-May). However, it is only 3,750 units ahead of Creta, which sales 84,744 units.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire

In this list, the second enemy of Creta is Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which has kept the sedan flag high with the sale of 80,617 units in the first five months of 2025. It is followed by the popular Maruti Suzuki Swift, which sales is 79,823 units and Maruti Suzuki Brezza, which sales 79,222 units.

Wagon R is being sold for 26 years
WagonR is one of the oldest cars in Maruti. Since entering the market in 1999, it has sold over 32,00,000 units. The price of the hatchback is between Rs 5,78,500 to Rs 7,61,500 (ex-showroom). The car comes with both petrol and CNG with powertrain options. It has two petrol engine options-1.0-liter-series dual-jet dual-VVT (67 PS and 89 Nm) and 1.2-liter-series dual-jate dual-VVT (90 PS and 113 Nm).

Creta's popularity is also no less

Creta is a volume driver in Hyundai's Indian market. Launched in 2015, this SUV has so far recorded sales of 12,52,000 units. The Creta, known for its several powertrain options, can be taken in the internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid avatar.

The Creta ICE version consists of three engine options-1.5-liter MPI Natural-Aspirated Petrol (115 PS and 144 Nm), 1.5-liter kappa turbo GDI Petrol (160 PS and 253 Nm) and 1.5-liter U2 CRDI Diesel (116 PS and 250 Nm). Transmission options include 6-speed manual, IVT automatic, 7-speed DCT automatic and 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Hyundai Creta offers two battery options with Electric – 42 kwh and 51.4 kwh. The range of small battery variants is 390 km, while large battery variants give a range of 473 km once the variants are fully charged. The Creta ICE is priced between Rs 11.11 lakh to Rs 20.50 lakh. Creta Electric can be charged from Rs 17.99 lakh to Rs 24.38 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom.
