Last month, MG launched the much-awaited Hector Tomahawk in electric and plug-in hybrid versions. The new SUV is an important model for the brand, especially with more buyers now looking at electric SUVs. Now, the Hector Tomahawk EV has started reaching MG dealerships across India. Test drives are expected to begin soon, and customer deliveries are scheduled for September 2026.
The electric SUV is offered with both five-seat and seven-seat layouts. It also gets a Battery-as-a-Service option that lowers the initial purchase cost.
Price And Variants
The Hector Tomahawk EV is available in three variants. The electric SUV is available in five-seat and seven-seat versions. Prices start at Rs 19.49 lakh and go up to Rs 23.49 lakh, ex-showroom.
The seven-seat Hector Tomahawk EV is sold in three trims:
- Excite
- Exclusive
- Essence
The five-seat model is offered only in the top-spec Essence trim.
MG is also offering a BaaS plan. Under this option, the SUV starts at Rs 13.99 lakh, with a battery rental charge of Rs 4.90 per km. This introductory price is available on a limited number of units.
Design And Size
MG has given the electric SUV a different front-end treatment. Some of the main exterior details are:
- LED projector headlamps and LED DRLs
- Illuminated MG logo
- Closed-off lower front section
- 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels
- Roof rails
- Black body cladding
- Wraparound LED tail lamps
- Powered tailgate
The SUV measures 4,745mm long, 1,850mm wide and 1,770mm tall. It has a 2,810mm wheelbase and offers 230mm of ground clearance.
Cabin Gets Plenty Of Features
The dashboard uses a brown-and-black finish with soft-touch materials. A large 15.6-inch touchscreen is offered on higher variants, along with an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display.

Safety And ADAS
Safety equipment includes six airbags, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring and all-wheel disc brakes.
Higher variants get Level 2 ADAS. This package includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and prevention, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and high-beam assist.
A 360-degree camera is also available with transparent chassis and wheel-view functions.
Battery, Range And Charging
Power comes from a 69.2kWh LFP battery pack paired with a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor. MG quotes around 201 bhp and 310 Nm with front-wheel drive.
The claimed MIDC range is 517km. The SUV can accelerate from 0-100kmph in around 8.2 seconds.Charging details include:
- 7.4kW AC charging
- Up to 90kW DC fast charging
- Around 35 minutes for a 30-80 per cent DC charge
- Around 12.5 hours for a 10-100 per cent AC charge
- V2L and V2V charging
- Vehicle-to-Home capability
Boot Space And Rivals
The seven-seat model offers 192 litres of boot space with all three rows in use. Folding the third row increases this to 528 litres. The five-seat version has 610 litres, which rises to 1,053 litres with the second row folded.
The seven-seat Hector Tomahawk EV will face models such as the Mahindra XEV 9S and Kia Carens Clavis EV. The five-seat version will compete with the Tata Harrier.ev and Mahindra XEV 9e.
With dealership arrivals now starting, the Hector Tomahawk EV is getting ready for its first customer deliveries. The combination of a large battery, three-row practicality and the BaaS option gives MG another strong electric SUV for the Indian market.
