Tata Motors announced that it has crossed 2,50,000 cumulative EV sales in India, a significant milestone in its electric passenger vehicle business since launching its first mainstream electric car, the Nexon EV, in 2020. That SUV is now the first EV in India to cross 1 lakh cumulative sales.

According to the Indian manufacturer, the latest milestone was recorded across its current EV portfolio, which includes the Nexon EV, Harrier EV, Tiago EV, Express-T EV for the fleet segment and the recently introduced Punch EV. Tata said its EVs now account for a larger share of the overall passenger EV market, supported by early entry into the segment and offering models across body styles and different price points.

The carmaker attributed this growth to growing EV demand among private buyers and fleet operators, especially in urban markets. Tata Motors further claimed that Tata EV owners have collectively driven more than five billion kilometers, a figure that reflects the growing acceptance of EVs in the real world rather than limited-use ownership.

Commenting on the milestone, Shailesh Chandra, MD and CEO, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited, said, “The sales of 250,000 EVs demonstrate that electric mobility is fast becoming a part of everyday Indian life. Tata's ongoing commitments towards the Indian EV landscape

Tata continues to invest in Indian charging infrastructure through partnerships and its Tata Power-supported ecosystem, which now has over 20,000 public charging points available across the country.

The company further said that it is preparing to expand its EV lineup with new products based on its dedicated EV architecture along with software and connectivity updates aimed at improving the ownership experience. It is set to launch the upcoming Sierra EV and updated Punch EV in early 2026, while the Avinya range of premium luxury EVs is due to be covered by the end of next year. This is a part of Tata's larger target to have five new EV nameplates, including Sierra and Avinya, by fiscal 2030, supported by major updates to its portfolio.

Ducati recently unveiled the Desmo450 MX at the Grand Finale of the Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL) Season 2 held in Calicut. This is the first Motocross machine from the Italian brand, and will be launched in India in the first quarter of 2026. It is the first model in Ducati's planned series of off-roaders, highlighting the brand's expansion into new markets and regions.

The Ducati Desmo450 MX is the only motorcycle in its class to be powered by an engine with a desmodronic valvetrain. It's a no-frills Motocross bike built around a lightweight aluminum perimeter frame designed for maximum agility and control on tricky terrain. The frame was built with a minimum of welding joints to ensure structural stability by eliminating weak points. While the frame weighs less than 9 kg, the total weight of the bike is 104.8 kg.

Ducati Desmo450 MX: chassis and technology

Ducati Desmo450 MX
The Desmo450 MX is the only bike in its class to feature Desmodronic valves and comes with a lightweight perimeter frame designed for maximum agility and control.

The perimeter frame is held up by Showa suspension units. It features a 49mm USD closed cartridge front fork with 310mm of travel and a black anodized rear shock with a 16mm shaft and 129mm of travel. The motorcycle rides on 21-inch front and 19-inch rear wire-spoke wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion MX32. These are fitted with 260 mm front and 240 mm rear Galfar discs and a Brembo braking system.

The Desmo450 MX includes the usual range of technology we've come to expect from Ducati. Via dedicated switchgear on the handlebar, riders can navigate through two riding modes, launch control, Ducati Traction Control, throttle response maps and engine brake control.

The Ducati Desmo450 MX is currently priced at $11,495 in the US market, which roughly means 10.32 lakh.

  • Delhi is set to bring out a new EV policy in the next financial year, which will focus on subsidies, charging expansion and incentives for scrapping old petrol and diesel vehicles.

The upcoming policy focuses on fiscal incentives, rapid expansion of charging infrastructure and encouraging removal of older, high-emission vehicles from the roads.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday said the Delhi government is preparing to introduce a new electric vehicle (EV) policy, the implementation of which is expected from the next financial year.

The Chief Minister said the policy framework has been completed and is designed to address rising pollution levels while strengthening the capital's transport system. He pointed out that vehicular emissions account for a significant portion of PM2.5 and PM10 pollution in Delhi, and the shift to electric mobility could help reduce this impact.

Incentives, infrastructure and exit plan for old vehicles

The upcoming policy focuses on fiscal incentives, rapid expansion of charging infrastructure and encouraging removal of older, high-emission vehicles from the roads. Gupta said the subsidy will be used to reduce the cost gap between internal combustion engine vehicles and EVs. He also said that Delhi has already removed road tax and registration charges on EV purchases.

As part of the policy, the government plans to introduce additional incentives for vehicle scrappage. Owners who scrap old petrol or diesel vehicles will be eligible for financial benefits when purchasing electric vehicles, with an aim to accelerate the phasing out of polluting vehicles.

How the government plans to implement the changes

Gupta said automakers have been asked to align production and supply with demand and maintain reasonable pricing. The government is also consulting power distribution companies, vehicle manufacturers and authorized scrap dealers. Once finalized, the draft policy will be released for public consultation to gather feedback from residents.

On charging infrastructure, the Chief Minister said the plan includes installing public chargers not only at prime locations but also close to residential areas. Provisions for battery exchange and proper disposal of used batteries are also part of the framework. He said that consumers will be given enough time to transition to electric vehicles.
