To reduce the stock of these vehicles, the company is giving a discount of up to Rs 2 lakh on select Model Y variants. However, Tesla has not made any official announcement regarding this.

Model Y spoiled the game

Tesla's strategy in India currently rests on only one car, Model Y. Its starting price in India is around Rs 60 lakh, which makes it one of the most expensive electric vehicles in its segment. According to Bloomberg, around 600 bookings were received for Model Y in India, but a large number of them have not yet converted into deliveries. Official registration data shows that in the entire year 2025, Tesla has registered only 227 vehicles in India.

Custom duty increased prices

Tesla's biggest challenge is price. In India, custom duty on CBU units can be up to 110%, which more than doubles the price of vehicles. Tesla thought that its brand appeal would offset these costs, but so far this strategy has not proven effective. Indian EV buyers, even in the premium segment, are extremely price and value conscious. This is also a big reason for Tesla not getting customers.

New Delhi. Kia continues to expand its K4 range and the newest member of the K4 family is the much-awaited K4 Sportswagon. The brand had been working on this wagon variant for quite some time, especially after the launch of the K4 sedan in March 2024 and the hatchback in April 2025. Along with the Sportswagon, Kia is now offering all three body styles under the K4 badge to cater to the diverse preferences of customers. The K4 Sportswagon reflects Kia's “Opposites United” design philosophy, which combines sharp and modern looks with practical design. Its features include hidden rear door handles, attractive D-pillar design and sleek profile, which gives it a sporty and functional look.

Size and dimensions
Talking about size, the length of the Sportswagon is 4,965 mm, width is 1,850 mm and height is 1,435 mm, while its wheelbase is 2,720 mm. It is 15 mm shorter than the sedan, but 265 mm longer than the hatchback. The wheelbase is same in all three variants.

What's in the interior?
On the interior, the cabin layout remains the same as other K4 models. For Indian buyers, its design will look similar to the Kia Sciros, especially due to the steering wheel and 30-inch Trinity dashboard. It has two 12.3-inch horizontal displays and a 5-inch touchscreen in the middle, which is for climate control. The interior takes care of both technology and comfort, with smart storage solutions and space for five seats.

Features
Talking about the features, it includes wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, integrated streaming services, digital key, panoramic sunroof, full-width DRLs with LED lighting, Kia's signature digital tiger face grille, large alloy wheels, sporty bumpers and bold LED tail-light signature. All these features firmly establish the Sportswagon in Kia's premium lineup.

Talking about engines, K4 Sportswagon has many powertrain options. The base variant has a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which produces 114 bhp and comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox. There is also a mild-hybrid version of this engine, which will be available only with 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. For those looking for more power, Kia also offers a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine, which produces up to 178 bhp and comes mated to a 7-speed DCT. Going forward, a full hybrid version is also expected to arrive, which will be self-charging and will increase efficiency as well as attractiveness.

Mercedes-Benz has updated its flagship electric SUV, the EQS, for 2026 in India. Available in two versions, the five-seat EQS 450 and seven-seat EQS 580, the EQS is not about dramatic design changes this time, but about refining what is already doing well. Here are five things that show why the 2026 EQS still makes sense.

1. Flagship Positioning

The EQS remains the most expensive and most advanced electric SUV from Mercedes-Benz in India. With prices starting from ₹Going up to Rs 1.34 crore (ex-showroom) for the EQS 450 ₹At Rs 1.48 crore for the EQS 580, it clearly sits above the rest of the brand's EV lineup. In simple words, this is a no-compromise electric SUV from Mercedes.

2. Range

Driving range is still one of the EQS's strongest cards. The EQS 450 is estimated to go 775 km on a single charge, while the EQS 580 goes a step further and claims a range of 809 km. Both use the same 122 kWh battery pack, and while real-world numbers will be lower, these figures put the EQS among the longest-range electric SUVs on sale in India.

3. Strong performance with all-wheel drive

The EQS doesn't scream about performance, but it has plenty of it. The EQS 450 produces 355 bhp and 800 Nm of torque, good for a 0-100 km/h time of 6.2 seconds. The EQS 580 takes things further with 536 bhp and 858 Nm, reducing that speed to 4.8 seconds. Both versions have 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard and a top speed limited to 210 km/h.

4. Fast-charging capability and Airmatic

Mercedes has paired the larger battery with 200kW DC fast-charging support, which allows charging from 10 to 80 percent in a claimed 31 minutes under ideal conditions. Both variants come with AIRMATIC air suspension as standard, which plays a big role in making the EQS feel more comfortable and controlled, especially on long journeys.

5. Extended feature list for 2026

For 2026, Mercedes has made changes that owners will really notice. The AMG Line exterior package, previously limited to the EQS 580, is now available on the EQS 450 as well. Rear seat ventilation, which was previously exclusive to the top variant, has also been reduced. Rear passengers now get an MBUX tablet to control comfort and infotainment, cementing the EQS's focus on driving as well as driving.

It can be equipped with Mercedes' massive MBUX HyperScreen: a seamless curved display that spans multiple screens for driver, central and passenger functions under a glass surface. The interface uses Mercedes' “layer zero” concept, which shows key functions up front so you don't need to dig through menus, and it can personalize suggestions using built-in AI.

The special thing is that this SUV will have the badge and model name of JSW instead of Jetour. The SUV will be assembled at the brand's new greenfield manufacturing plant in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra and is expected to hit showrooms by the third quarter of this year.

Plug-in hybrid powertrain will be available in T2. Pure ICE versions of the T2 are also available, but in line with JSW's focus on sustainable mobility, the T2 i-DM in India will come with a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid powertrain. The plug-in hybrid is available in both AWD and FWD versions, although it is not yet known which version will be launched in India.

The T2 is a large SUV with a traditional boxy and upright design, reminiscent of the Defender. Like the Defender, it also has monocoque construction, not a ladder-frame setup. There is not much information about the price and positioning of T2 in India. However, the price of the FWD 5-seater T2 i-DM in UAE is around Rs 35 lakh (AED 1,44,000).

The central government said that in the last few months, more than 40 lakh Fastag annual passes have been sold. Now about 20 percent car drivers are using this annual pass. According to the government, this facility was started from August 15, 2025. Under this, any driver can either cross the toll 200 times for Rs 3,000 or travel for a whole year, whichever is completed first. This pass is valid at 1,159 toll plazas across the country.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said that this scheme is proving to be very beneficial for the people traveling on the highway daily. This has not only reduced the cost of travel, but the journey has also become easier and hassle-free.

People are saving money due to annual pass
A person resident of Yamunanagar, Haryana told that he has to travel to Chandigarh often. Earlier, one trip used to cost around Rs 150, but now due to the annual pass, their expenses have come down to around Rs 30 per trip.

The hassle of recharging Fastag again and again is over.
The government said that with this annual pass, the toll expense has already been fixed. People do not have to worry about different toll amounts every month and the hassle of recharging Fastag again and again has also ended.

25 percent reduction in cash payment
According to the ministry, between November 15 and December 10, 2025, more than 15 lakh UPI transactions took place at the toll plaza, the total amount of which was Rs 19.44 crore. During this period, cash payment has decreased by 25 percent, due to which the crowd at toll plazas has reduced and the system has become more transparent.

Toll payment of 98 percent vehicles through Fastag
At present, 98 percent of the vehicles in the country are paying toll through Fastag only. Rest of the vehicles are also gradually connecting to this system. The government is now promoting digital payments by providing easy and cheap facilities to the people instead of fines. Apart from this, the ministry clarified that if a road is being converted from 2 lanes to 4, 6 or more lanes, then till the work is completed, the commuters will have to pay only 50 per cent of the old toll.

New Delhi. Mercedes-Benz India has announced that it will start manufacturing the Maybach GLS at its plant in Pune. With this move, India becomes the first country outside the US where this ultra-luxury SUV will be manufactured. Earlier, the Maybach GLS was being imported into India as a fully built unit from 2021. This announcement comes with the launch of the new Celebration Edition of the model, whose ex-showroom price has been kept at Rs 4.1 crore.

Price will be reduced by Rs 40 lakh
Due to local manufacturing, prices of Mercedes-Maybach GLS will now start at Rs 2.75 crore (ex-showroom). This price is about Rs 40 lakh less than before. The company has taken this decision because for the first time India has joined the top-5 global markets of Mercedes-Maybach. With local manufacturing, the company hopes that the delivery time will be reduced and this vehicle will be easily accessible to more customers.

sale of 2025
Mercedes-Benz India said it sold 19,007 vehicles in 2025, which the company described as its most successful year so far, although total unit sales declined by 3 percent as compared to 19,565 vehicles sold in 2024. The luxury vehicle segment, which includes models like the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach and AMG, recorded 11% year-on-year growth and accounted for 25% of total sales. The AMG Performance lineup grew by a massive 34%, driven by the popularity of models like the AMG G63, AMG CLE53 and AMG GLC43.

Increase in sales of BEVs
Sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) grew by 12% and accounted for 20% of all high-end Mercedes-Benz vehicles sold in India. The company said that 70% of the electric vehicles sold in 2025 were priced between Rs 1.25 crore to Rs 3.10 crore, with the EQS SUV being the best-selling luxury electric vehicle. The brand also revealed that Mercedes-Benz will launch 12 new products in India in 2026, which also includes the CLA BEV with MB.OS operating system. The company will open 15 new dealership locations in three markets and upgrade 15 existing sites. Franchise partners will invest more than Rs 450 crore in the retail network.

New Delhi. Mahindra has started booking its new SUVs, XEV 9S and XUV 7XO. Both these models have received a total of 93,689 bookings so far, whose total value is more than Rs 20,500 crore (as per ex-showroom price) till 2 pm on January 14, 2026. With these launches, Mahindra is further strengthening its role in shaping the Indian SUV market. The XEV 9S and XUV 7XO expand the company's portfolio, offering customers electric, petrol and diesel options. These models have been created keeping in mind different driving needs and preferences, and also showcase Mahindra's innovation and manufacturing capabilities.

3 battery options
If we talk about details, Mahindra XEV 9S has three battery pack options: 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh. The 59 kWh battery delivers a peak power of 170 kW, the 70 kWh battery delivers a claimed power of 180 kW, while the 79 kWh battery claims to deliver a peak power of 210 kW. Mahindra It also has a large boot of 527 liters and best-in-class trunk space of 150 litres, providing ample space for every journey. 50:50 split seats have been provided in the third row, which makes it even more convenient for the family.

2.2-litre diesel engine
Mahindra XEV 9S prices start at Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 29.45 lakh (ex-showroom). At the same time, powertrain options are available in Mahindra Both engines come with a choice of 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox, providing flexibility for different driving preferences.

Ventilate Seats
Mahindra has also given many advanced features in this SUV. A 540-degree camera system improves visibility, while ventilated seats have been provided for the first and second rows. Mahindra XUV 7XO prices start at Rs 13.66 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 24.92 lakh (ex-showroom).
