It is capable of giving a mileage of up to 24.4-24.9 kmpl (petrol). In CNG it goes up to 33+ km/kg. Alto K10 looks more economical and refined, whereas Kwid feels a bit powerful. Mahindra & Mahindra has given a clear answer to the questions being raised regarding E20 fuel and said that all the petrol vehicles of the company can run safely on E20 fuel. The company has given this information through official social media post and customer care email. However, models manufactured after April 1, 2025 have been specially calibrated for E20, which will provide better acceleration and fuel efficiency.

There is concern among many vehicle owners amid the promotion of E20 petrol (20% ethanol blend). Mahindra has confirmed that older models (manufactured before April 1, 2025) are also completely safe on E20, but they may experience slight differences in performance or mileage. This statement has come at a time when many videos regarding E20 are going viral on social media.

Mahindra's official statement

In response to a customer's query, Mahindra said through customer care email, 'Mahindra engines are in full compliance with the current gasoline standards and all our vehicles can be safely run on E20 fuel.' This statement is bigger than the company's official tweet, which only mentioned E20-compliant vehicles.

These vehicles are out of danger

The company clarified that the vehicles launched in the market after April 1, 2025 have been specially calibrated for E20 fuel. In this, acceleration and fuel efficiency have been optimized. At the same time, owners of vehicles manufactured before this may experience some performance problems (like slightly less acceleration or mileage), but there will be no harm to the engine. This difference also depends on the driving style.

Mileage has decreased!

E20 has slightly less energy than E10, due to which there may be a slight reduction in mileage. This was also accepted by Mahindra and many other companies (Maruti, Toyota, Hyundai, Hero) in the recent government press conference. Toyota had blamed the viral Innova Hycross issue on bad fuel rather than E20.

This clarification from Mahindra is important amid the ongoing debate regarding E20. The government is promoting E20 as an eco-friendly option, while auto companies are continuously increasing communications to reassure owners of older vehicles. Mahindra stressed that all the vehicles have been tested on E20 and there was no significant impact on their performance.

Apart from the top-5 cars of the segment mentioned above, last month 15,215 units of Maruti Swift, 14,097 units of Mahindra Scorpio/N, 13,135 units of Maruti Fronx, 12,488 units of Maruti Baleno and only 10,776 units of Hyundai Venue were sold.

Hyundai stood fourth by selling 39,635 units in June 2026, but registered a decline of 9.97% year-on-year. Monthly sales also decreased by 17.15%. The company is facing challenges with 10.94% market share. Hyundai is trying to improve its position by working on new models and pricing strategy.

Toyota Motor

Toyota sold 28,441 units in June 2026, which is 7.52% higher year-on-year. There was a decline of 6.98% on annual basis. The company achieved 7.85% market share. Toyota is showing stable growth with a strong hold in the hybrid and premium segments.

Kia India

Renault Kwid has been launched in the Indian market with many updates. The company has introduced this hatchback with a new design, easy variant line-up and attractive price. Design and interior

The new Renault Kwid has been updated with the company's new brand identity. It has SUV-inspired design, high ground clearance and strong road presence. The Climber variant has special exterior accents, wheel arch cladding and rugged body styling, which gives it a more sporty and premium look. Ground clearance of 184 mm makes it a strong option in its segment.

Dual-tone interior theme has been given in the cabin, which makes the look of the car look more modern. Apart from this, the boot space of 279 liters provides good practicality for everyday use. Keeping in mind easy driving in the city, its compact size has also been maintained.

Features and safety

The new Kwid has an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. To reduce pollution and reduce dependence on crude oil imports, the government has started selling many types of petrol options in the country. Today, a total of 5 petrol options are being sold in the Indian market ranging from normal octane rating to high-performance and flex-fuel categories.

Depending on the engine of your vehicle, its capacity and your responsibility towards the environment, these fuels have been kept in different categories and their prices also vary widely. 1. Regular Petrol (E20 – 91 Octane)

This is the most selling normal petrol in India, which is used in every common bike, scooter and car. 2. Premium Petrol (E20 – 95 Octane)

Indian Oil's XP95 and Hindustan Petroleum's Power Petrol come in this category. This is also based on E20 standard (20% ethanol), but its octane rating is 95. It contains special detergent additives which keep the engine valves clean. It gives excellent mileage and smooth performance for modern turbo-petrol cars and premium scooters. Its price in Delhi is currently ₹ 109.24/litre.

3. Super-Premium Petrol (0% Ethanol – 100 Octane)

Indian Oil's XP100 is the biggest example of this category. This is the only petrol in India, which is completely ethanol-free (0% Ethanol) and its octane rating is 100. This fuel is very expensive and is specially designed for supercars, racing bikes and vintage cars, so that their engines can get maximum power. Its price in Delhi is currently ₹ 170/litre.

4. E85 Petrol (Flex-Fuel)

At present it is being looked at from the perspective of future fuel. E85 petrol is introduced only for flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs). It contains up to 85% ethanol and only 15% petrol. Toyota, Maruti and Hero MotoCorp have launched some models running on E85 in the market. It is very safe for the environment and much cheaper than regular petrol, but it can only be put in vehicles with flex-fuel engines. Its price in Delhi is currently ₹ 82.12/litre.

5. E100 (Pure Ethanol Fuel)

With the cooperation of the Union Transport Ministry, E100 i.e. 100% pure ethanol fuel has also got the green signal in India. It is a biofuel made entirely from sugarcane, corn and agricultural waste, which does not contain even a drop of petrol. It is currently being used in select pilot projects and specially designed flex-fuel bikes and cars. Its price has not been made public yet.
